Henry’s going nowhere 19 May, 2006

Today we heard the news that all gooners were hoping for, and that is that Henry has signed a 4 year extension to his contract earning him an staggering 130 grand a week. He says the Champions League defeat only made his ambition to walk us out at Ashburton Grove greater.

Henry: “The game reassured me of one thing I wanted to know – how far I can go with that team. I know we lost but they showed me they are a team with heart and lots of quality. We can be so proud of what we did.”

Henry staying is brilliant news for us not only because he is simply the best player in the world but for many reasons. If he left I think Ashley Cole would have followed, I know it’s still not certain he will stay too but, he wants to win trophies and an Arsenal side including Henry is probably the best place to do it. This is also true of other players including Sol, Bobby and anyone considering leaving; I will talk further on this another day. Another factor is all the extra merchandising that will be sold due to his stay including replica ’14′ shirts, and all this will pile up into some much needed cash for the club. Also, Arsenal is now again a very appealing club to come and play for as anyone would love to play alongside Titi, Ronaldinho included. So hopefully Fernando Torres will be a one of many exiting summer additions.

The timing of Henry’s decision actually turns out to be quite useful to us. We are all on a little bit of a downer after wednesday so this will have lifted everyone’s spirits. I agree with Henry that we can reach the final for the 2nd successive year, but only if wenger does actually bring in some proper talent like Torres, like Ledley King and I think that Henry may have had a word with Arsene on this.

Also the news brings a cheeky smile to my face because of how Barcelona must be feeling now. I have seen a few ‘Henry 14′ Barca shirts and 1 kid walked passed Kitty’s on wednesday with one of these and I just love how fucking stupid he must feel now! Wasting that money on that shirt! haha! As we chanted to him the other day: ‘DREEEEAM ON! DREEEEAM ON!’

Finally, in more personal news: gilbertosilver and I appeared on the ITV show last night about Highbury. It was before the Wigan game and I came up to the camera and waved, I wasn’t watching but people have told me. Woo! I’m famous!
