Senderos and Clichy return 4 October, 2006

Phil Senderos and Gael Clichy made their Arsenal returns last night in the 2-1 reserve win against West Ham. This is great news for Arsenal, not sure if they’ll be 100% fit and available for the Watford game but at least they’re back playing football.
The Watford game may be too soon for these two’s 1st team return but it won’t be too long now. Clichy will slot right in at let back and Senderos will be the first to replace either Big Willy or Kolo.
It will be nice having some players back from injury and be able to play people in their proper positions and play quality players too. Senderos we all know is a rock in defence, Clichy we’ve seen less of thanks to Ashley Cole but he’s pretty much the french, faster, younger, better, less cocky, straight and less money-grabbing version of Cole.

Wenger has said RVP is a more physical player now. When he first joined us he was the weak little skilful player, now he has got some strength in him he is a much better player. Robin is going from strength to strength at Arsenal and I hope it continues. I’ve never thought of Van Persie becoming a world class player but I suppose he does have the potential there, he’s only 23 so hasn’t reached his peak yet.
Nick Bendtner is having a great start to the season on loan with Birmingham but has said he won’t return to Arsenal unless he’s guaranteed at least a place on the bench. It going to be difficult for him to fit in there just at the moment but if he stayed with us a bit longer this boy could be an amazing player. If he stays at Birmingham his talent will be wasted and will never develop into his full potential. If he can see past 1st team football just for a little bit and think about his future hen he should come back to Arsenal. We have some great coaches here and with their help they will turn him into a top player. I do fear that he’ll stay at Birmingham but hopefully he gets a loan extension rather than a permanent move.

Lastly, Arsene Wenger has been telling us we are strong contenders for the title. I dream of he day we lift the Premiership again, is it this year? I know we have the quality and potential to go all the way but we need a bit of luck along the way. We had a poor start to the season but that’s over now and since the United win we seem like a different team. However, if you asked me if I’d prefer us to win the Premiership or the Champions League, I’d say the Champions League. After the heartbreak in Paris it’s something that all Gooners want so badly. We’ve had a taste of the Premiership title; we know what it’s like. Our new target is Europe. Hopefully we’ll stuff Barca on the way to Athens.
Of course both would do just nicely but I’m not picky. I mean come on, all I’m asking for is the Champions League. We’ve played well in Europe so far, lets hope the run of form continues. But for now, lets keep pushing in the Premiership and see where a couple of win will take us.
Bear with this me in the drought of Arsenal news. Those evil internationals have stolen it…it’s tough times for a blogger. See ya when I see ya.

Bendtner would be made to sign a permanent deal with the brummies, the guy alrready is showing his quality and I would offer him a first team place if I was AW, he is already better than Aliardiere (unfortunately his injuries severely harmed his growth), and I would use him as the sub striker, with Adebayor and RvP competing to join TH14.
The Beast is a mystery!!! perhaps AW saw him train and said fcuk, he’s crap… …I don’t know, but until I see him start a few games I will never know!
All we need is for Lauren and Diaby to get back and we are as strong as we were 2 years ago
Oh yeah, Nick’s miles better than Aliadiere…I might even say better than adebayor…I dunno though. A huaranteed place on the bench at his age. Hope it all works out though
lasagne… …age has nothing to do with it! Csesc had it, Song and a lot of others do not!
Look at Niklas, he scores regularly in the championship, which is crap
AJ scored in the championship and is the leading scorer of the PL at the mo.
Niklas has also scored 2 in 3 Int’l games… …he is a pure finisher, just what we need.
Look at AJ, Saha (Fulham) and players who can score on crap teams, as soon as they get a little support they take off. Now neither is the finished article yet or may ever be. The fact remains that if Niklas is knocking them in at the moment, imagine him getting on the end of all those crosses/corners/FK
DAMN!
Welcome back lads. Lauren should be back soon too. Nice strong defence with good backup. Will Lauren get his place back ?
Doubt it, he’s been out too long and it will take him months to get back to were he was b4 injury… …in the meantime Eboue will get betta and betta
in all this confusion i wonder where that leaves Flamini!?
im now confused as to what his actual position is =)
i think he came on for Hleb in one of the CL games but i could be wrong he did come on for someone on the right flank..
he was great as LB last year and i was kinda surprised Wenger didnt play him there cuz Hoyte’s been average so far..
i just hope Nicolas B. doesnt go the David Bentley way… wud love to see him play some decent first team games for us
Amos, I don’t think Nicky B will, Wenger loves consistant players and he is, wheras Bentley and Pennant would be outstanding one day and pants the next…
I think Flamini is on the way out, I know he parties like a Rockstar and refusing to play LB when your team is in crisis doesn’t push the right buttons with AW… …It is just a hunch but it seems that Song is now ahead of him in the first team… …with Diaby comming back, Kleberson and Fran in the researves I do not see a bright future for flimflam
Who said Flamini has been refusing to play right back? o.O I reckon he’d jump at the chance to be starting…
and Kleberson… do you mean Denilson?!
Flamini didn’t refuse to play at left back. He just said he didn’t like it there and Arsene said playing him there would halt his progression as a midfielder. I’ll try find the link…
Here you go:

i think we have enuff of midfield type players
we have
rosicky | hleb | gilberto | fabregas | freddie | denilson | diaby and maybe Baptista
is Flamini superflous to the Arsenal midfield? i see Flamini as Ljunberg type player.. not someone in the Gilberto mould and Freddie has been disappointing lately so maybe le Boss could start Flamini in one of the less important games maybe Carling Cup games etc
just a thought
LordPersie, you are right Denilson…
LasagnaChef, I know what was said publicly… …but I am feeling that something else has happened… …stunting his growth or not, the TEAM needed a competent LB at the start of the season and Flamini, would have meant that for the first few games all the teams would have had to split up play rather then stream down the right every time (at rookies, Hoyte and Djourou), at the Villa game it seemed like 100% of the villa attacks targeted Hoyte and Djourou. Now Djourou is quality, but it is hard enough establishing yourself at CB while also covering for Hoyte.
Amos, I see Flimflam as more of a Hargreaves type midfielder, he has a great engine but not the tricks that Freddie (used to) have.
“He is unhappy at left back,” explained Wenger. “He is not comfortable there. For me it was a good experience but he does not feel comfortable in that role.”
Are those words not a Wengerism for him not wanting to play out of position?
I see your point gunner8, that could’ve happened.
Flamini is no Ljungberg though. He is a central midfielder, yes, like Hargreaves.
Dont you ever insult me with this ‘LasagnAChef’ ever again…its lasagnEchef. Pssshhh
