Defensive worries ahead of Chelsea clash 8 December, 2006

Djourou

Just before the massive game against Chelsea we’ve got really unlucky with our centre-backs. William Gallas targeted the Porto game as his comeback but wasn’t fit and is now only 20% likely to play against his old club. Kolo Toure is suspended after picking up a booking against Fulham and Senderos got red carded in that game but I’m not sure whether he’s suspended for this or not. Then to make matters worse Johann Djourou picked up an injury in Portugal and might miss the game too.

That’s all of our centre-backs out! However Wenger is “reasonably optimistic” that Johann will be fit for the Chelsea game and we really do need him to be. I think Senderos will be available though so it looks like it’ll be a Swiss pairing at the back on Sunday. If (touch wood) Djourou doesn’t make it then we’re going to have to put either Gilberto, Song or Flamini at centre-half. Hopefully Alex doesn’t set foot on Stamford Bridge otherwise we could be in for an embarrassment.

We've only got one Song

Even without these defenders AND Rosicky AND Henry I still think we have enough to cause Chelsea some problems. I’ll be sad if we lose but I’m half expecting us to pull off a result on Sunday. Even if things don’t go our way I’ll just be happy if we give Ashley Cole plenty of stick. I wish I was going but those who are have been asked to print off and take these Ashley Cole Banknotes along to wave at the bastard (you can see them on a link from this blog). I’m sure there’ll it’ll be great fun for all the Gooners going, I might go down to a pub in London to get a bit of atmosphere and sing “One man went to bed with Ashley…”. Jens Lehmann has been saying that Ashley Cole deserves everything he will get from the Arsenal fans, good on him. Alot of professionals would be saying he’s done alot for us and deserves some respect but Jens gets the idea. There’s a little less pressure off this game now seeing as we’re no longer challenging for the to spot, hopefully we can use that to our advantage and get a result.

In other news, Thierry Henry says he doesn’t regret choosing Arsenal over Barcelona despite Arsenal not challenging for the Title. He says there is such quality here and so many youthful players coming through we will be fighting for silverware. It’s really nice that Thierry has belief in this club and he will be very much a part of any triumph the club might have in the future. I’m sure he above all wants to win this Champions League after coming so close last year. Could 2007 be our year? Who knows?

That’s you lot for tonight, I wanna go to bed. Thanks for reading.

Lovely homophobic statements there. How does this square with the fact that Arse fans always consider themselves so superior, yet you peddle such a grubby bigotry?

Thats not homophobic. Its just like saying Thierry Henry is of african descent. Its just facts. Ashley Cole is queer.

I don’t give a **** about what anyone says about not abusing Cunt. I don’t care if i come across as bitter and immature. Cunt deserves all the abuse we give him and as Gooners we have that responsibility.
