What a fucking amazing game. Without doubt the best match so far at our new stadium. All the talk before the game was about who’ll play up front. Adebayor started with Henry but it took all four strikers to be on the pitch before we could score. Van Persie came off the bench to score the equalizer and Henry headed in Eboue’s cross to win it. Baptista wasn’t very influential but he was playing in a midfield position and didn’t get a chance to do anything.

The game started off as you’d expect. It was a bit shaky and nervous and nobody was going to force some early errors. I have to say I think we started off with having the most chances. United never really threatened a goal in normal time of the first half. Our centre backs were brilliant and had control of everything. Also before the game I was a bit worried about Ronaldo’s form but our full backs had him in their pocket the whole game. He started off on Clichy’s side but Gael was embarrassing the Portuguese winger; so he decided to switch wings and have a go at Eboue but it was the same story. I was also concerned about Paul Scholes but you didn’t even notice he was on the pitch. I just had to double-check the teams for yesterday to be sure he was. Fabregas was controlling the centre of the park with ease. And Henrik who? Our centre backs dealt with him easily and the veteran striker wasn’t able to create anything. I said this last week and how right I was:

“I can see it now, Senderos mastering Larsson, Clichy embarrassing Ronaldo and Fabregas dominating that ginger twat. We just have to hope that happens.”

Ronaldo / Rosicky

We had a few decent chances in the first half but nothing clinical or making Van der Sar work. The best chances fell to the visitors in extra time. The ball came to Rooney on the edge of the box who fired a ball just going underneath the crossbar. Lehmann made a brilliant save to tip the ball over the bar for a corner. Giggs took it and it was dropping nicely for Henrik Larsson who headed downwards, towards the bottom corner. Lehmann dived low to his left and just managed to stop the Manc’s going in one up at half time. Jens showing why we should be looking to extend his contract and he can still do a job for Arsenal.

Lehmann / Clichy

The second half started with a bang, Fabregas had an early long-range effort but it went straight into the arms of the ‘keeper. We were looking the dominant side again but we conceded on the counter attack. Ronaldo sprinted into our half and played a good ball to Evra who’d made a brilliant run. He played in a dangerous cross, Toure got a touch on it but it wasn’t enough and the ball fell nicely to Rooney had a free header from close range to make it 1-0 to United.

rooney / ferdinand

Arsenal picked up though after this, the crowd were getting behind the team and the boys were creating lots of chances. We were having some good shots on goal but nothing good enough to equalize. Cesc and Rosicky both coming close. Van Persie was brought on for Hleb in the 67th minute to help with the Arsenal attack. We had a sense of belief and the game was just non-stop attacking and non-stop time wasting from United.

In the 73rd minute there was a bit of a goalmouth scramble; Adebayor nearly managing to slide the ball in but the United players were just throwing their bodies at the ball and as a result Van der Sar went down injured for a few minutes. It was good for the visitors as they could slow down Arsenal’s momentum and take a break.

I was starting to wonder if this was going to be the day we lost our unbeaten run at the new stadium but in the 83rd minute Robin Van Persie came up with the equalizer to send 55,000 into hysterics. Rosicky got down the right and sent a low cross in. Henry tried a little back flick but his touch found Van Persie right by the far post. The ball was travelling at speed and it was a very tight angle but somehow our top scorer managed to steer the ball past Van der Sar into the roof of the net. I went mad jumping all over some old bloke next to me but I think he could understand my jubilation. It was a record attendance yesterday of 60,128 and they really made some noise at that goal.

1-1

Arsenal were definitely on top and we were pushing for the winner with 7 minutes remaining. Manchester United were tired and were hanging on for the draw. I said I’d take a draw before the game but now we were in a commanding position and all three points were there for the taking. I was praying for the equalizer but now I was thinking another goal would just be something special.

Thanks to United’s time wasting, cheating tactics we were awarded 4 minutes of extra time to find a winner, it took all four of them to do it and with the last touch of the game Thierry Henry headed in to give us the win. Eboue played in a great cross from the right and our skipper was perfectly positioned to head past the Dutch goalie. You thought we made some noise for the first goal but the second was something else. It was the most I’ve celebrated a goal since Campbell’s in Paris.

2-1

The stadium was pretty full at 94 minutes but as usual a fair number had left. I hope that teaches you now. The last game early-leavers missed two goals and a lot of them thought I’d be a good idea to stay this time however you could see hundred walking up the aisles at 1-1. I hope they heard us screaming as they were walking to the station.

The stadium was pretty full well after the final whistle; everybody was still celebrating, singing and waving the United fans off ahead of their long trip home. By far the best day at The Emirates, it would’ve taken a lot to beat the 3-0 win over spurs but this was miles better.

There was a negative point from the game though, Robin Van Persie has broken his fifth metatarsal celebrating the winner. He’s going to be out for a number of weeks and this is bad news for Arsenal to lost our top goalscorer. At least we’ve got good quality back-up in that position and it might just give Baptista the time to shine. Not quite sure how long Robin’s going to be out for but I’ll keep you updated.

henry / van persie

It’s Arsenal vs. Spurs reserves tonight at Underhill. Get down to Barnet if you can tonight for the 7 o’clock kick off. Not sure what sort of team will play with the usual reserves making the trip to While Hart Lane on Wednesday but should be an interesting encounter. Entrance is fee by the way so why not? Have a good day, make sure you let some United fans know the score yeah?

what.. no more fotos.. who the f^^k are the football licensing body blah blah to prevent u from posting pics.. :(
you usually had great pics to post.. :( (you gotta love the one on arseblog ..)

the early leavers must be so regretting their decision.. Henry told them not leave early and he showed them why yesterday :)

Paul Scholes played eh!! :) good for him ; yep Ronaldo plays well only against weak teams :)

Great save from Lemon.. although that shot he had to save from Roo-knee came off the clearance he himself had made . ..but still a great save…

some fans were saying taht Rosicky was hopeless.. i reminded them that he provided the pass that led to our first goal and was great in his overall passing and play.. cept for his million attempts on goal..

Eboue vs. Cristiano made for some great TV moments but Eboue had the final laugh.. infact i dont think Cristiano was able to successfully pass Eboue the whole of the game.

Adebayor/Flamini/Clichy were tireless.. esp Clichy.. great performance. although in hindsight he shld have seen Rooney coming in for the pass from which he got the goal.

Henry is Henry… he likes to do things the hard way.. great header.. to win the game.

and was RVP aware that he had a broken toe? cuz if he he’d broken his toe during his goal celebrations then why was he still playing.. or did he break his toe during the 2nd goal celebration?

great weeekend altogether.. Chelsea lost..

12 points behind.. can we do it?

2. Mos - 22 January, 2007

oh okay sorry RVP broke his toe during the celebration of the winning goal.. :) didnt see that part..

PLEASE EVERYONE LOOK AT THIS LINK OUR ACADEMY WON 3-2 WHICH IS NO REAL SUPRISE! BUT WHAT IS A SUPRISE IS WE HAD:

TOM CRUISE playing for the academy surely he is over the age of 18!!!!

Hope the F.A don’t notice else the youngster could be in trouble! I mean I know his acting career is going down the pan but pretending to be 18 is desperate!!!

9. Mos - 22 January, 2007

mallouk come on now… we won fair and square .. now go home and go watch United beat watford (relegation suspects) 4-0 this weekend and ull be happy again..

10. Pabz - 22 January, 2007

I’m impressed at how many exclamation marks and letters mallouk fits in. His teacher might not be. Especially your use of the ‘word’ ‘begginig’. They’ll sort you out in Secondary School mate. No worries.

I think the big thing for Arsenal now is to maintain momentum across all competitions and see where it takes us. No sense worrying about the league (only gets mallouk’s knickers in a twist and sends his spelling out the window) but just keep winning matches and see where we end up. I’ve no doubt that we have the potential to be the best team in England – we are starting to play the best football, not just technically but mixing it up and using the full depth of the squad. Consistency is now the trick and if we keep it up, we’ll have trophies this season and really challenge for the league next year.

P.S. For the sake of accuracy Liverpool actually have the best defence in the league. Seeing as United conceded two goals to a superior team yesterday and all…

11. gazzap - 22 January, 2007

mallouk, you are embarrasing yourself and the red half of manchester. BTW, which part of manchester do you come from…Essex or Surrey?
we wont talk about the penalty incident which would have put us 1-0 up. you would then have been chasing the game and we’d have picked you off for an easy 4-0. so the ref was paid off yet again by yanited, but we can do it the hard way if we have to.

12. Jack Scurvy - 22 January, 2007

Excellent game. If Rosicky had been on target like he was up at Anfield, we might have had a 3-1 drubbing. He certainly took enough shots.

13. Pabz - 22 January, 2007

Hhm. Exciting… no… Strange as having a Tom Cruise in our U18s, it’s worth noting Merida banged in another couple of goals.

I wonder if any of them can be as good as Cesc. I think he’s a once in a generation player. He’s outstanding at 19 and so level headed. How good will he be at 28? His potential is amazing, more so than any other young player in Europe.

Did anyone see that bullshit on MOTD2 last night where they did the 12 year old kid thing of predicting scores til the end of the season to see who’d win the league? Unsurprisingly the positions and points difference were more or less identical to now. Such an incredibly retarded thing to do… Cause you can predict form, injuries, suspenion for ALL the teams in the league a few months in advance. Considering everyone in that studio though Liverpool would push Chelsea for the league, safe to say they know fuck all.

14. gazzap - 22 January, 2007

whats that disgusting smell? oh yes its united fans shitting themselves.

15. Mos - 22 January, 2007

fair play to the ref for letting play go on when scholes was trying to keep the ball between his legs with Ro and Cesc trying to get at it..
i was half expecting him to blow the whistle any moment.
kinda made up for not giving us the penaly in the first half.. i guess :)

16. Justin - 22 January, 2007

Clichy was really good last night. Kept both Giggs and Ronaldo quiet. Should have kept closer to Rooney for their goal I suppose but yeah he should have been up there as contender for the MOM. Yeah Eboue did alright but I miss the badass attitude that Ralphy used to bring. Eboue’s not half as hard (althought effective). That said he put in a magnificent cross for Titi. The reason I love Cesc is that he not only gets forward but if you watch closely, try counting the number of times he runs back to slide tackle the opposing players. What a champ. Yes Rosicky’s passing and dribbling can be pretty good but if he works on his shooting, this fella will make us say “Robert who?” (no not really actually, RP7 is still a legend). Adebayor was superb. His enthusiasm is something we really need and I was glad he was down on the team sheet. Yeah and I cant understand the skysports ppl saying manure dominated the game… In any case, in the game I was watching, we had lots more possesion. Bring on the spuds. 10-0 to the Arsenal sounds about right.

17. lasagnechef - 22 January, 2007

Possesion was exactly 50%-50%. We had more attacks but I wouldn’t say we dominated the game. Man United didn’t deserve to win but it’s debatable whether we did. But do I give a shit about any of that? NO HAHA! 2-1! STILL LOVING IT!!

18. Pabz - 22 January, 2007

A draw was fair but great teams win games they don’t totally deserve. For a while I thought they’d pull it off. Then we showed just how good we are.

I’m not sure about Lauren’s ‘basass attitude’ against Ronaldo. He crucified him in the 2005 FA Cup Final. His famous hoof, while amusing, was all he could do. Eboue and Clichy both had him contained and I don’t think they conceded more than one free kick against him between them.

It’s cleearly annoying that Eboue goes on about getting smacks. But that should not detract from the excellent performances he puts in. He defended and attacked yesterday to a very high standard.

19. Pabz - 22 January, 2007

By crucified, i don’t mean Lauren was booting Ronaldo around. I mean he couldn’t even get close to him.

20. Pabz - 22 January, 2007

And the hoof i meant was the Man Yoo game last January… not the FA cup final.

21. jogamike - 22 January, 2007

MAN-U ? who the fuck are they?

OHHH you mean that team with a bunch of twats who lost 2-1 to arsenal ?

i think i remember now

OHHH YEAH THEY LOST TWICE

and the first time they didnt even have henry

manchesterufaggots got arsenailed

22. amiripz - 22 January, 2007

What an extraordinary win.
I jumped from my sofa when Henry nailed that header.

A ManUTD fan, forum friend of mine said that on the same moment he broke a glass. hahahah

Outstanding lads really. :)

23. lasagnechef - 22 January, 2007

Badnews about the site. That licensing company say I cant use photos, crests, fixtures etc. I’ll do my best to get around it but shhh (hence the changed title pic, that may be temporary)

24. stacey elvy - 22 January, 2007

i sport man u so i am upset oh no m bro sports arsenal and he is happy x

25. Gunner8 - 22 January, 2007

Chef, does that mean if you get a licence they will give you free tickets to go and report on all Arse home and away… …that would be worth the fee…

…disgusting really

26. arsenalist - 22 January, 2007

I thought the key to this game was not allowing Ronaldo to create anything. Eboue and Clichy deserve a lot of credit.

I uploaded goals, highlights and the Henry interview.

27. throttle em - 22 January, 2007

top 4 moments;

1. Eboue motioning “dive” to girlie boy.
2. Henry yelling in Neville’s face as he ran past him to celebrate
RVP’s equalizer
3. Alex Fergs face when Henry scored.
4. Lehman sarcastically acting hurt in response to Manc
timewasting.

Love it…. Love it…Love it!

28. lasagnechef - 22 January, 2007

I dunno Gunner 8, maybe. But I have other things to do, I am no journalist, theres spelling mistakes all over the shop. This is just a hobby.

29. Justin - 22 January, 2007

hey chef so is it only your site or did arseblogger and goodplaya and them get the same notice from the liscensing ppl?

30. Nuwanda - 22 January, 2007

It’s a real shame that van Persie is injured, we really do need him! He really turned the tables on Utd, which may have happened eventually, but the fact remains that it was his awesome goal (insane angle!!) which set Arsenal on the right path. I suspect a week or two without RVP won’t be too much of a problem as I’m quite sure we got the Carling cup squad covered – but any more and we may just get a little uncomfortable with our restricted lineup.

On another note, I kinda like the Emirates Stadium in the banner at the top. It looks just as good as the crest. It’s a shame about the fixtures though. It doesn’t make sense…I can’t believe they aren’t letting those to be put up!

31. Pabz - 22 January, 2007

Poxy licence crap… Maybe you’ll have to start calling the team this website refers to Barsenal. Report how Robert Percy and Terry Henry scored goals in the game with Munchester United.

Shame about Robin. Just as we were getting everyone back. I hope he’s the only one… With any luck Baptista will make an even bigger case for himself against Spurs on Wednesday. Adebayor is looking excellent too.

32. Gunner8 - 23 January, 2007

Chef, i know… …sometimes things happen, for others there’s always spellcheck

33. J Peem Organ - 23 January, 2007

YAAAY!!! The Dallas Mavericks beat the Miami Heat 99-93 bringing their season record to 34-8 after an 0-4 start to the season.

They’ve already played the Spurs 3 times, winning their last two meetings. They don’t play them again until April 15th.

GO ARSENAL!!!

P.S. Did I mention that Dirk Nowitzki is the baddest dude on the planet? Just in case I haven’t, I’ll go ahead and say it: DIRK NOWITZKI IS THE BADDEST DUDE ON THE PLANET!!! He’s 7 feet tall and plays like he’s 6’5″. There’s not a thing in the game he can’t do and HE’S SEVEN FEET TALL!!!

watched the match, think that arsenal did a great job pipping man u to the win. i’m a man u fan by the way, but i really must say that the 2 arsenal goals were fantastic; near impossible to stop. however i do agree with lasagnechef; though man u didn’t play like they were going to win, arsenal, for most part, wasn’t either. i’m impressed with the great passing (btw i think the reason why man u lost twice this season was cause they can’t contain nor match up to arsenal’s awesome passing), but other than that arsenal really wasn’t really getting anywhere near the net in the most of the time; you must at least give man u the credit for fairly good defending. the last henry goal was heart-break, but yeah; saw it coming, and good for you arsenal fans. :)
