Who’s fed up with having an injured squad? 27 January, 2007

Wouldn’t you like just for once for us to have a fully fit squad? I mean if we had all our players fit all season I think we’d have a lot more points. Just when it looked like we were pulling the squad back together we hit another load of injuries. Last week it was just Ljungberg and Gallas injured and both were coming back into the team soon. Now, to add to that we’ve got Van Persie, Hleb, Djourou and Eboue. Our recent form has been down to the squad coming back to fitness but these injuries are a massive blow. Robin is going to be out for two and a half months, he’s our top scorer this season and has been in great form and to have him out for so long is not good. Gallas is still ‘two or three weeks away’, Arsene has put it down to trying to rush him back. Hopefully in a few weeks he’s playing again rather than being another two weeks away. Hleb’s going to be out for at least month after picking up a hamstring injury against Spurs. We’re running a bit low on wingers at the moment and young Theo Walcott might have to start a few games.

One player who certainly is fit is Cesc Fabregas. He doesn’t want to rest, he wants to play every game but Arsene’s said he will get a break soon. Cesc has been incredible this season and if he was one of the players we’d had out then we would’ve been in more trouble. He’s run every game he’s featured in and has been a key player for us this season. He’ll play tomorrow but I don’t expect him to start the 2nd leg of the Carling Cup Semi. Gilberto is back from suspension for that one and I think he’ll captain a youthful side at the Emirates.

Cesc

Aliadiere will not be leaving Arsenal this month. He’s been linked with a move away for a while but with an injury hit squad he may be called upon in the coming weeks. He’s not a bad player, I’m a bit of a fan of him but he’s just not Arsenal standard to be honest. I’d love to see him do well but he’s just not good enough. He suffered a back injury at White Hart Lane but it was only minor and he’s in tomorrow’s squad.

I’m not too sure what the team will be tomorrow. Almunia might be in goal, he started up at Anfield and I think he’s being used in the FA Cup. He’s a good ‘keeper but I’d much prefer Lehmann and I don’t really get why he’s playing. Then across the back I guess it’ll be Hoyte, Toure, Senderos and Clichy. In midfield I think we’ll go for Rosicky, Fabregas, Flamini and Walcott with Henry and Adebayor up front. There are options with Diaby, Denilson and Baptista but I see that as the most likely line-up tomorrow. Walcott wasn’t amazing on Wednesday but I don’t see any other option for the wing unless we play Denilson or Aliadiere.

Theo

I’m pretty confident ahead of tomorrow, I think it’ll be a convincing win. Bolton are our bogey team but we usually struggle up at the Reebok, if our fans get behind the team and they lads don’t allow themselves to be push around they shouldn’t have any trouble.

Have a good weekend.

Flamini and Walcott will not start together tomorrow and Cesc won’t play. My guess will be Rosicky, Diaby, Flamini and Baptista in the middle, then Henry and Adebayor upfront.

Denilson might be for replace adebayor, with Baptista upfront.

One thing about Almunia starting is we wont have the continual tactic of winding up Lehmann if nothing else this will confuse Davies .

Fabregas won’t start, nor Henry.

Line up:

Almunia.

Hoyte-Toure-Senderos-Clichy.

Rosicky-Denilson-Flamini-Diaby.

Adebayor- Batista.

We seem to have more injured key players than any other team. It
seems to happen every season.

Maybe AW will field a 4-5-1 formation.

Cesc – What a pro. God I love that kid. I hope we never flog him.

As for the injuries, maybe that’s the price we pay for having players who all have to be total athletes as much as they are footballers?

hey guys what are we moaning about? We’ve only got a trillion players out due to injury… Look at Chelsea. They’ve got bigger problems! They’ve got TWO players out! Man we’re so lucky our club.

i’ve been a gooner for the last 38 yrs… i’m the grand old age of 42 now! never have i been so positive about the future… the kids really are alright! we’ve got a good few years of entertaining football ahead.
it looks like we will salvage something from this season, either a trophy or a champions league spot, or both… we’re still alive in everything that matters, and next year we may realistically challenge for the title. we do get alot of injuries, but like mm says, that’s what you get for having a team of athletes…
things have never looked so good for the arse, and as long as wenger remains, there will always be a future to look forward to.
hoping for a win over bolton… it’ll be tricky i think… i find it impossible to guess at a team, the managers advantage of seeing everyone in training is crucial:-)… but any of the teams suggested above should really be strong enough to beat bolton.
roll on 3.30!

Fab will play as will Henry since neither will play midweek. Gilberto will play against Spurs on Wednesday, so Fab can rest then.
