Alexandre Song has left the building… 30 January, 2007

Many Gooners were waiting for the day that Alex Song would leave The Arsenal, and that day is today. He’s joined Charlton on loan until the end of the season, Arsene’s revenge for the little scrap at Upton Park. With Fabregas, Gilberto, Denilson, Flamini, Diaby plus other players who can play in the centre there was no way Song was going to get any games this season. We may have seen the last of him but at the moment he’s due to return in the summer. I wish him the best of luck at Charlton.
I’m afraid it’s not all good news today, Julio Baptista has been ruled out of tomorrow’s game with that groin injury picked up against Bolton. He took a late fitness test today as there was a chance he might play but Arsene’s decided not to risk him and will go for Aliadiere/Adebayor up front. Gilberto will captain the side after serving a three-match ban for his red card at Ewood Park.
Nicklas Bendtner has extended his loan at Birmingham until the end of the season. His current deal expired this month and with our current striker shortage there was an option to bring him back but Arsene has allowed him to complete the season with The Blues. Whether or not he’ll return to Arsenal in the summer is a different matter but for now he’s still officially our player. On the subject of Birmingham, Fabrice Muamba has said it’s up to him whether he decides to return to Arsenal or move elsewhere. I’m a fan of him and his tough style but with Diaby, Fabregas and Denilson I don’t think he’ll ever get that many games here. He’s a good player but to be fair we’ve got even better ones in that position so we don’t really need him.
And finally, we’ve apparently signed some French 15-year-old striker. Gilles Sunu has completed talks with Arsenal and will finalise a move to London in the summer. They’re getting younger and younger. If Wenger has confidence in this kid at such a young age then he must be good. Well we’ll see in about 5 years time.
That’s it for today. A preview of the scum’s 2nd trip to the Grove tomorrow, until then.

Song’s gonna be alright!
Apparently sings a good tune playing for the reserves
Methinks he has more potential than Flamini
Hopefully gets in the Charlton team and improves
Thanks fe dat Pardew
leave Song alone you pricks.
Cannon,
I like your site mate but your attitude toward Song stinks!!
Hopefully his performances at Charlton will enlighten you.
Dick!
I more than most people would love for Song to become a great player. But at the moment, he’s just not arsenal quality what-so-ever. Hope he does good at Charlton though. I’d love to be proved wron and for him to shut me up. I don’t hate Alex Song, I just don’t think he is good at football.
Song is a fantastic young player, miles more talented than Flamini. The anti Song merchants are dumbos who don´t know anything about football. The spell at Charlton getting first team experience under Pardew and in a team fighting for PL survival will do him good. Whether or not he comes back to Arsenal, he´s got a big future.

It’s a bit strange seeing the likes of Stoke and Muamba (if he does) leaving the club so young. It seems Wenger’s evaluation process has been accelerated by a couple of years. Bentley, Upson, and Pennant all left when they were around 20. Just hoping they have first option and sell-on clauses built into their sales contracts.

its fun, free and easy. good luck!
I am going to make Alex Song bend over. I am then going to go to work on his ass with my willy which is stinky like lasagnechefs wifes fanny
Jesus, can everyone stop obsessing over song?! He’ll either improve or he won’t and he’ll be gone like Cygan (check that rhyme! “gone like cygan” man. I’m awesome!)
anyways, does anyone else think that our winger situation is insane? we don’t have any! rosicky’s good but he’s out of position there. Much as I disliked reyes’s attitude an flopping, he helped stretch the field and now we just don’t have that.
I’ve seen Babel play quite often, and I’d take him in a second over the summer. He’s got real quality.
Yeah you’re right. I’d love for us to have (pardon my french) a Ronaldo type player (skills wise not the dickhole attitude). Also yeah i’m not a fan of Song but if he proves us all wrong i’d be more than happy to say i was wrong. Despite him moving to Charlton, I sincerely hope they go down if only to give that prat weasel faced ferret Pardew a few sleepless nights.
I’ve never understood the stick Song has gotin what has thus far been a very limited Arsenal playing career. I may have only a scrap of the understanding of football & player abilities that Wenger undoubtably has but even I can see the boy has potential. He performs very well regularly for the reserves & has all the makings of a carbon copy of Gilberto if he was only given the chance to develop. He seems to have the same positional sense & discipline to hold a midfield in a very attacking side (a vastly underrated skill) while showing some of the same faults our World Cup winning midfielder has often been derided for himself up until very recently – chiefly, an occasional lack of intensity to his game coupled with a desire to linger on the ball for far longer than is necessary while yes, his passing could improve a fair bit too. If this move does turn out to be a permanent one I wish him all the best, however, if he does return I’m sure he’ll be much improved for the experience.
nightmook,
I’ve never understanded bum sex
I’ve seen Song many, many times for the reserves and still he’s not that good there. He should be proud of his last game in an arsenal shirt though.
Lasagnachef, I defer to you & your reserve game knowledge, my wife only let’s me out for first team home games. Alan Pardew – I defer to your knowledge of bum sex, whether you or not you undertanded/understand it.
This is a good move for both Song and Arsenal.
Hopefully he`ll get regular football while at Charlton and also hoping for no injuries.
