A sad day :( 5 February, 2007

Today the new dates for the Villa and Man City games were announced. We will now be going up to Villa Park on Wednesday March 14th and we’ve got City at home on Wednesday February 28th. I’m going to Edinburgh for a week the morning after the Carling Cup final and I planned it so I wouldn’t miss any Arsenal games but thanks to our draw with Bolton the game against Man City has been moved to while I’m away. It will be the first Arsenal game I’ve missed at the new stadium, I always new this day would come but it hurts, oh yes. I think because the fixture’s been rearranged you can get a refund on the ticket but I’ll see.

Cardiff

Also today I’m thinking about going to Cardiff. Even though I’m going to Scotland early in the morning the day after and even though I don’t have a ticket I want to go to Wales and support the kids. It’s always a great atmosphere around the streets of Cardiff on Cup Final day; there’s such a buzz everywhere you go and the Carling Cup final will be the last time that happens with Wembley due for completion. I’m unsure how I’m getting there and how/if I will get a ticket but I feel it is my responsibility as a loyal Gooner to make one last pilgrimage to Cardiff. However, there are some negative points about going: 1. I won’t be able to do a match report on the final as I’m going away. 2. Would be even more money spent. 3. It’s a bit of a risk with trains to catch early in the morning. At the moment I’m thinking I will go but still not sure.

As you can probably tell there’s fuck all news today. My home town of Borehamwood will be hosting the UEFA Cup Final….the women’s one. I went to Semi Final at Meadow park and now the 2nd leg of the final is on Sunday April 29th at 12pm. Might go to that one to as I’ve never seen Arsenal win a European Cup before…

Theo Walcott says we can’t give up on the title yet even though we’re 17 points behind the leaders. And for some strange reason Henry’s been linked with a move away again. As you know it’s all rubbish and Henry will retire at Arsenal.

That’s your lot for today I’m afraid. Happy Monday.

What a pointless article.

I will never get those 20 seconds of my life back.

I feel robbed.

Sounds like a bit of dithering going on here. A proper fan wouldn’t book a week off in the football season – perhaps there is a woman involved, if so, enough said. Just climb out from beneath the thumb and get your arse to the Emirates. Who would want to go to Scotland anyway – it’s bad enough having to go to Wales. I’ve got my ticket, my mates, a hip flask of Bushmills and the key to the cupboard my wife will be locked in! Check out the ‘engine room’ to see if you have any balls and get to the game. Up the Gunners!

If you want my personal opinion, try and go to the final, otherwise, if we win, you will feel guilty for not going the trip, and wish you could have gone. If we lose, you’ll feel angry, but that’s part of being a fan, isn’t it?

Emkay that made me laugh, cheers! RC8, I might just have to.

If I didn’t have a ticket I would watch at an Arsenal pub near Ashburton Grove because the travel to Cardiff is far from fun. There’s no disloyalty in that, and when we win you can celebrate at the stadium.

Watch what your saying Emkay! What’s your problem with Wales then eh?! Not all us Arsenal fans are from In-gerland y’know. Wales is a top nation and also happens to include the best stadium in the UK. I’ve also met many Arsenal fans in Cardiff during cup final days who say they enjoy coming to the city and wish that the cup finals stayed here. Keep your mouth shut if you havent got anything useful to say and respect all fellow Gooners around you no matter where they’re from!

All the best for the Arsenal!

I arranged my marriage at the end of May to avoid any fixture clashes – my only disappointment was not getting married in the goalmouth at Highbury with Monsieur Wenger performing the ceremony – I’m sure he has the authority – like a ship’s captain

Welsh Gooner. Reading your comment makes me rest my case. Just a joke mate some of my best friends are Welsh. Will I need a visa to enter the country, certainly not one to leave??

Sig you are a star!

Just be glad you guys can watch it at all! I’d give anything to be over there! By the way, this may be off the wall, but I was wondering, did you guys like Princess Diana while she was alive? And what do you guys think of Prince Charles. Yeah, random I know, but I was reading a book that said all Brits loved the Princess and I was just wondering. Thanks!
