Gallas needs to learn to keep his mouth shut. 24 March, 2007

I know he means well but it’s happened on more than one occasion were he’s criticized his team mates, staff, fans or the club in general. I know he means well and these outbursts might just be an extension of how much he cares about the club but really he’s got to know when enough is enough. Here’s what he said recently in an interview with L’Equipe magazine:
“It has been my most difficult season for a long time. The most difficult part was remaining unclear. If I had known from the beginning that I would need three months, I would have accepted it. But at first they told me it was a cramp, when in fact it was a strained muscle. Do I have something against the Arsenal medical staff? A little, yes, with the error in diagnosis. The doctors did then do their best for me to come back, but in the end my season has not been satisfying.
I knew the Arsenal team was young, but day after day I have come to understand they really miss experience. We made mistakes that experienced players would never do. When I left Chelsea I knew we would remain behind for at least one year. We play very, very good football, but that is not enough. We have to fight, and have a killer instinct in front of the goal. We can’t always rely on Thierry and the youngsters have to understand it. Our young players have to do more.”
I do get what William is saying; the medical staff got it all wrong with his injury. However the bit about the youngsters giving a little more is a bit harsh. Some players have come through this year and have been amazing for us; they’ve more than just filled in when needed but actually given Wenger some thinking to do in his selection. He is right about the final quality in front of goal and I bet it’s just as frustrating for the players as it is for the fans.
I really like Gallas and I really admire the passion he shows for the team. However sometimes this gets the worse of him in little quotes like this.
Earlier in the season we wondered whether we’d actually see Bendtner back in an Arsenal shirt again but with Wenger saying he will return and Steve Bruce expecting him to leave it seems he will be playing at Ashburton Grove next year. He’ll have to fight for a place though; I see him as behind Van Persie, Henry and Adebayor but who knows, a good run or some injuries and he’ll get a good chance to prove himself.
There really is no other news regarding Arsenal. I’ll speak to you next when there is, see ya.

Remember, its those little things lost in translation that can totally change the meaning and emphasis of a piece like this.
You got sold an over the hill center back, with no loyalty, who did nothing but complain during his time at Chelsea, who always was looking at greener pastures…he came for the glory but got nothing…and he is kicking himself that he left. Chelsea got a younger defender in return who is ever improving and already this season has one trophy medal in his locker with 3 more on the horizon…Poor Billy has already had his end of season party, and is looking for another club to moan about….shame.
One trophy, Blue? you mean that carling medal he was kissing in front of arsenal fans when he didn’t play a minute of the game? wow. that’s one to treasure forever, huh? it’s rare that a player can show a class of class combined with an un-classy prize. you’re right, he’s the whole package.
I think it’s refreshing to hear a footballer speak his mind; most post-match responses are so tedious (what with players claiming they gave 110% and all) that it’s great to hear Gallas telling people what he really thinks, and anyway, a misdiagnosis is a serious mistake – it’s not right that they should just de able to get away with it. Good luck to him – I look forward to more inflammatory comments in the future.
fuck off blue ball bag…
i remember when you had a shit ground and shittier team.
your pleb team has not won titles – it has bought them.
and cole has loyalty? cole is nothing more than you – a dumb fuck.
Sorry Gallas but i suppose he forgot that at least our medical staff are better than Chelski, and he forgot what J.Terry has said about our medical staff.
I believe in freedom of speech….he commended the meds for assistance after correcting the diagnosis but if they got it wrong initially, he’s got a right to be upset, just as anyone else would be if they went to highly paid experts in their field and were mis-informed.
Is something wrong with the Arsenal staff? Three months for a pulled hamstring for Gallas seems like a long time. In Australia, the average for a torn hamstring is six weeks. And it’s not just Gallas. Henry, van Persie, Senderos, Rosicky and Clichy have all missed significant parts of the season. And we had a similar spate of injuries last year. That, more than the inexperience, is what’s really worrying. You can’t say it’s all just bad luck.
And regarding the youngsters, he’s not saying anything that Henry doesn’t say a hundred times a year.

What is wrong with a player saying we have some problems, when they are there to see. The first to do when you have problem is to accept you have problem. So let us look at the comments made in a positive way rather than a negitive way.
Penguin you can hardly blame the medical staff for an injury Senderos picked up at the World Cup nor is it fair to blame them for an injury Van Persie picked up while celebrating a goal. Clichy missed the start of the season but that was in recovery from a long-term injury. It is curious the way a lot of Arsenal players pick up little niggling injuries but there is no evidence to suggest it’s down to medical or fitness practices.
My problem with Gallas is that I don’t see him as a genuine Arsenal player yet. He’s a quality player but when I see him in the shirt, I always think ‘oh yeah… he’s with us!’. The injury didn’t help that. But he is a mouthy kinda guy – he was always moaning at Chelsea. Thus to have a guy who is not really established here moaning about it all, well it’s a little unusual and I can see why it pisses people off. In any case he states the obvious… young players have to improve. Well DUH. Then again, why didn’t he mark Alex at that corner kick rather than Diaby since he’s so big on taking responsibility… I noticed he was willing to mark Carew in the next game so perhaps the lesson was learned.
freedom of speech brother

Read the article first and not the tabloids and all sorts of shite websites.
And yes, there´s something with the medical staff. Should be sacked for the last 2 year shambles of a record they have.
