You may have notice I haven’t been around for two weeks! I moved house last Tuesday but the useless wankers who supply our internet never came to deliver the hub thingy so I haven’t been able to log on the net. Finally today I set it up and The Cannon is back up and running.
In the past fortnight I’ve missed quite a bit, sorry. I won’t bother recapping it all because, 1. I’m sure you’ve read it elsewhere by now, and 2. I can’t be arsed to. I have got a match report from the Chelsea game up finally, I wrote it out last week and when I got a chance to I was going to post it up on the site, I thought that was going to be the next day but yeah. There’s no report from Pompey game because to be honest, I didn’t see it. I watched the highlights last night but I didn’t really get a great deal of information. It finished 0-0, Baptista missed a penalty and had a few shots saved in what could quite possibly be his last Arsenal appearance. If we’d won we would’ve finished the season in 3rd as Charlton held Liverpool at Anfield but oh well, 4th doesn’t really bother me.
I’ll get a proper post up soon…I know, I know, I’ve been away for 2 weeks and don’t even write anything. Well there’s the Chelsea match report below if you wanna read that. To come there’ll be a 06/07 season review, player reviews, transfer targets and all that sort of stuff. Plus, The Cannon’s 1st Birthday is soon.
Right then, I’ve got fuck loads of work to do this week but yeah, see you soon.

We have no real wingers to speak of but Alves and Clichy are great going forward. Van P and Henry both like to drift wide and also drop deep into midfield. Eto’o , well that just speaks for itself dont it.

Denilson – Diaby – Hleb
Huntellaar – Bendtner – Ade
And if we do buy a winger to add to Walcott as a wideman how about Ribery or Babel

Personally I hope we do indeed swap Eboue for Richards. Or, well just about anyone really.
His constant cheating and theatrics are a disgrace to the club.
RobM – I think you are being unfair on Eboue. He has been scapegoated but he has not done anything to disgrace himself lately so give him a chance. Maybe Arsene has had a word and he has listened.
Mr. TIMMAL – people like you lead me to support mandatory eugenics.
I think we had a problem upfront and we lacked support from midfield. We never looked like scoring because of people like “Beast.” That lack of cutting edge always put our defence under pressure. Imagine RVP missed for four months but still was the club’s top scorer.
I believe we need a faster midfielder and that is if Reyes comes back and we sign Eto’o then trust me the team will be unstopbable. With Henry coming from the left RVP from right and Eto’o central then we will be champions material.Midfield should be improved and consist Fabregas, Gilberto, Reyes and Either a new signing or Rosicky. Diaby, Denilson are super stars but should be injected later as they develop. In defence Eboue, Toure, Gallas and Clichy are fine with the bench of Sendoroes and Djorou. Eboue is fine and has nice footwork than any defender at arsenal and his critics should back off and give him a chance.
Maybe I am being a little harsh Passenal, we’ll see. But clearly the player has a problem with his behaviour and he’s had it for a couple of seasons. Maybe it’s fixed, or maybe he’ll fall over and play-act while the opposition are on the attack and his theatrics will put our team under more pressure next season too. I’d rather not take the chance.
And I’m not convinced he’s a ‘great’ player. He’s got talent. He has potential. I’m not convinced he can translate that into great performances week in and week out.
Frankly, I’d be happier to see Hoyte as first choice, or someone like Micah Richards come in (not that I expect the latter to actually happen).

I thought Eboue showed that he can be an excellent right winger playing in front of Hoyte who, by the way, scored an excellent goal too. Our first choice team/back ups should be:
Fabianski/Mad Jens
Hoyte/Gilbert, Toure/Djourou, Gallas/Senderos, Clichy/Traore
Eboue/Hleb, Fabregas/Denilson, Gilberto/Diaby, Rosicky/Walcott
Robin v. Persie/Adebayor, Henry/Bendtner
Hleb, Ljungberg, Baptista, Aladiere, Song should be sold to free up cash in case a great deal comes up in the transfer window so that combined with what the board makes available for spending, we may just get Eto or some other great super player that happens to be available at the time.

Anyway Toure didnt play in midfield, Djouru did. It was big Phil (who looked a bit more like his old self of the champions league run) and Toure at centreback.
Look, i didnt say Eboue was a bad player, he clearly has potential and when on his game is very dangerous and his pace allows him to recover. But thats kinda the problem, more and more hes had to try and recover from bad positional play, but hasnt been doing it. All defenders will make mistakes, the good ones make less, and those they do make they are good enuff to recover. Eboue however seems to like to take the “easy” way out and fall over and hope he gets a freekick awarded. I believe he is good enuff not to have to resort to this but he needs to get his head right and take a leaf out of Kolos book.

We’re not gonna get Eto’o. That’s just how it is. Chances are we won’t get Alves either. I also think Eboue is overrated and wouldn’t mind Micah Richards coming in. Next year we’ll have about the same team as this year, hopefully without Hleb. Put Theo out on the right.
hleb should stay, and lets sign aplayer who can cause havoc from the flanks ie ribery
