Gamst Pedersen to Arsenal? / Aliadiere all but gone 2 June, 2007

Hardly surprising news but ‘Boro are sorting out a deal for Jeremie Aliadiere. He’s spent 8 years here but never really lived up to his potential. I’ll do a proper good-bye Jem post when he officially moves but it does look very much like his next stop is Middlesbrough. The fee is probably not gonna be a great deal, couple million I’d guess but all the money we can get is very welcome and hopefully Arsene will do something with it.
Seeing as we’re selling Aliadiere and Baptista won’t be signed, we might be lacking strikers, especially if we’re hit with injuries like we were this season. One top striker the papers just wont stop linking us with is Samuel Eto’o. I know it’s stupid for me to keep bringing him up but what the fuck else is there to talk about? The latest on that is that Barca will do everything in their power to keep Eto’o at the Nou Camp. We wouldn’t be able to afford him anyway. Possibly one of the other top 4 clubs will have a go at getting him or maybe he could go somewhere else in Europe but really, I don’t think he’ll be going anywhere, it’s just a load of bollocks being stirred up by the Spanish press.
Apparently one player we are actually in for is Morten Gamst Pedersen, according to the player’s agent, the top 5 English clubs are looking at him. I would be delighted if Pedersen came to Ashburton Grove, I’m a big fan of the player and I think we could really do with him here. The story could be a bit of a lie from his agent just to raise interest in his player but if Arsene is actually serious about signing him then I think it’s great news. I believe he is one player that we could actually sign, Eto’o is nonsense we’re never getting him, but Pedersen, that sounds more realistic.
I went to Wembley last night for the big England v Brazil game, it was nice to see the amazing new stadium but the game wasn’t all that amazing in my opinion but it was a good night. Gilberto captained the visitors and scored a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside. Here’s a list of all our other players out on international duties.

I agree. Pedersen will finally fill the hole left by Pires, Ljungberg and Reyes and he is proven Premiership quality. This is the most sensible and needed transfer Arsenal could be linked with. Imagine what Van Persie could do with Pedersen supplying. Don’t forget RvP’s goal against Charlton last season. He would get that sort of supply from MGP every time out. Buy him now.

can’t see any deal for pedersen happening given that his agent is rune hauge and after the george graham/john jensen bung fiasco the club decided at a board level never to use this agent again. shame, as he would add something to team. but lets be realistic, even if he wasn’t with hauge can you see us signing him? i can’t. we’d procrastinate and dither for weeks and weeks until he ended up joining a team like west ham or newcastle. i’m worried that mediocrity is beckoning if it hasn’t already opened the door for us and invited us to comein sit down and have a cup of tea and a biscuit.

I think we desperately need a winger, not alot else. If RVP moves out wide however, then we do have space for another forward, and I’d love to see us finally splash the cash on Eto or Torres.
If the current Board have funds available, and either player was available for 25-30m what better way to show we don’t need to sell out and now we can fund the purchase of World Class players when we need to.
We have 15m extra TV revenue money.

All of that adds up to 30-32m without whatever we had available to spend in the first place.
I don’t think it is beyond the realms of possibilty that we get an Eto or Torres, these must be the type of “super super players” that AW was saying he would only go for after all.
I’m not at all surprised that we not moved for anyone yet. There are internationals on, players are on holidays, Spanish League hasn’t finished yet…

As good as Pederson is, EBOUE is better not just his shot which we all know is a BULLET but also his closing which Pederson is known for, so if you want to say a player is useless or rubbish say something that supports it instead of blaming him for getting irritated by Spurs or diving against Barca which to me is still inconclusion, I have seen clips over and over again and it seems he was hit in the stomach.
Even if that was a dive, comeon 1, Wayne Rooney has dived more than that or Gerrard who seems to have added it to his game.
Eboue is on his way to being the best RB we’ve ever had. So leave him alone.

I’ve ever seen the way he played but only once, it was a little bit eyecathing, how he run, dribbling, and how he cross the ball, but i don’t know whether he is the right man or not, if we compare him with pires, i think it sounds too rush, pires is a calm personal with high accuracy pass, he was not only play the game but he also decide the game. I prefer malouda or ribery, but do we have a chance ? But whoever the man that join us, i hope he can bring trophy for arsenal

I think that Pederson would be a fantastic signing for us. As has been said, a player that has proven himself in the Premiership, has a great work rate, is inventive and has come from a team like Blackburn, who are rarely shy when asked to get stuck in. If he can look quality in that team, can you imagine what he’d be like at Arsenal.
Referencing Eboue, I think your statement is somewhat unfounded. Considering his age, Eboue is one of the best, if not THE best RB in the Premiership. Hleb, has his downfalls, but this last season was a massive improvement on the season before, and personally I think next season will be the making of him.
I think our priorities for this summer are to sort out the Henry saga once and for all. He is one of the greatest to don the red and white, and walk the marble halls, however, if we are fortunate enough to be offered £17M plus Eto, I say take it. I’d be sorry to see him go, but at 29 and two seasons, where he’s been far from his sublime self, the economics speak for themselves.
We need to strengthen the midfield, or at least steel up what we have. Next season Arsenal can ill afford the likes of Cesc, Hleb and Rosicky pulling out of challenges. We have to be first to the ball, apply ourselves to every match – not just games against chelsea, liverpool, man utd and spurs, not allow ourselves to be bullied off the ball, and finally we need to SHOOT! perfect goals are wonderful and exciting, but results count.
Yeah Pedersen would be a good signing. That way he won’t be allowed to stamp on any of our players and get away with it anymore. I guess thats just the Blackburn way though! Fuckin thugs!

No doubt, MGP is hell of a good player but garnering his service will be an erroneous decision, mainly because he isn’t the kind of player that will fit Arsenal’s style of play. AW’s vision is pretty obvious – he wants our team to emulate the Ajax of the pass who played ‘total football’. This effectively indicates that we need players with good dribbling skills, pace and power. With that being said, MGP is undoubtedly one of the best crossers/marksman in the game but i sincerely doubt his ability to actually link up with Henry/ Van Persie. In addition, the system doesn’t include a lot of crossing. Some of you might think, why not change the system, bring MGP in and add another dimension to our game…. well it’s pretty obvious that AW IS going to stick to his ‘total football’ philosophy even when the team was utterly denounced by the British press for trying to ‘walk the ball into the net’, so why bother to suggest a player that will never fit into our system?
well they should sign someone like Ryan Babel and Ribery ( which will definitely be better than the new signings Man Utd made) and get Micah Richards cos everytime i watch him play, he just gets better – a definite class player.

actually i dont think we need a lot when all the players are fit, but tevez is always welcome. Its not just because of his stay at West Ham I say this, as I’m in love with everything that is Argentina I have followed him for years. He is still as young as Ronaldo and even though he is not as pacey as Ronaldo he can do as much with the ball, in fact he is a better dribbler.

Ribery is what arsenal need, a winger who is direct, appreciates a quick passing game and is not afraid to get stuck in. He would give the midfield the penetrative kick up the arse they missed last season and bring back the high adrenaline wing play of overmars.
Wenger doesn’t need or want another central midfielder, but in home and away games against shit teams who simply put 11 men behind the ball, the ‘invisible wall’ gilberto is not needed and a pairing or diaby and fabregas should be given a chance to win the ball higher up the pitch.
Gilbert and traore are good young understudys for the fullbacks and we have four centrebacks plus gilberto to fill in, so the defence is fine.
As said above bentner, adey, henry and vpersie, plus walcot (league cup) are adequate for the attack but the problem is goals and penetration from midfield, and that is something ribery’s direct style could solve.
Eboue is not a fucking right back. Wake up.
I agree all you say about crossing and goalscoring etc. But how does that make him a defender?
He is shit in defence and every serious opponent identifies him as the weak link.

Babel is the answer he can play as a striker or as a Winger hes more of the mold that AW will buy and he can get him for 6 mill….. Pederson will do fine for me he is top notch and he has excellent ball control…. in terms of striker options i think we are doing fine we have four excellent strikers in Ade RVP Bendtner and Titi Walcott will do good cover in emergency cases and nect year we will have Vela….. what we are lacking is midfield goals and if that happens it will be great….

Pederson is not in Arsenal’s class…comparisons to Pires are laughable..If any of you have actually watched us under Wenger you would have seen that apart from Overmars we have not played with traditional wide players but play makers who link up with the overlapping full backs to provide width…we don’t play a direct crossing game that may suit Blackburn but would not fit in with our style…we create enough chances with the way we play but just haven’t had any fit strikers to take them…
Ribery will not sign for real for sure cuz he wants to play for a french manager abroad… any idea who that could be??
MGP is awesome, young and probably more affordable but we have funds so why not get both?
Ribery can play also upfront or in the middle as an attacking midfield.

Eboue is the worst cheat to ever play for Arsenal. If he left tomorrow I wouldn’t give a damn. The amount of goals Arsenal concede because he cannot cut out a simple cross or is it out of position is amazing. He cuts out 1 in 10 crosses – he’s hopeless. I would get a powerhouse central defender in and play Toure as right back – seeing as Toure can’t jump but he’s great going forward. Maybe Eboue could play right midfield, but you will never win the Premiership with a dummy like that at the back.

The reason why we need a real winger is that the emirates stadium isnt like highbury. It is much wider and using only our short passing style doesnt suit the new stadium. We need to adapt quickly to make the emirate stadium a fortress once again. Getting wingers will add a different dimension to our slick passing. Height is also an issue across our team, we lose out when trying to win balls in the air.

Reading this post reminded me just how desperate a team we have become. The fans have become very very sad and pathetic since our fall from grace and the exit of Patrick to Italy. The team that went for a whole season unbeaten is now just a distant memory and to be honest I am looking seriously at Frank’s offer from Catalonia. All these blogs springing up on Arsenal reeks of supporters who are beating a dead horse and I am looking over my shoulder now at a certain North London team who we always seemed to get the better of through the 90s. Pedersen will be an absolutely brilliant signing but I don’t see it happening somehow. United or Chelski will probably outbid us or he’ll stay at Blackburn. He is a brilliant crosser and would score goals with that peach of a left foot.

Do NOT buy M.G. Pedersen. I am Norwegian and shood know. Yes, he has had some good games and goals in the Prem, but he is nowhere near the quality we are looking for. Did you see him in the national side on saturday? He got booed off the field and was substituted early in the second half. He has a decent foot, but come on… he’s NORWEGIAN! As much as I’d love to finally see a player from my native country play for the Arsenal, I must admit that they simply lack the quality. Work ethic they have in abundance, but technique and pace… I think not.
I don’t know about Gamst Pedersen but as a big fan of Marseille, I would say that Ribery is a great player maybe slightly overrated but full of provocation, dribble, courage, implication and instinct.
Certainly better than Hleb…
He is not a real winger and can play both on the left or right, even behind two strikers.

Ribery is in love with Real Madrid? What is wrong with that bloke? I like Gamst but Norwegian Gooner is right, he does score some good goals but then takes the next few weeks off and doesn’t do anything. Arsenal have seen that kind of a pattern with their strikers before and its not pleasant. But I think if you stick Gamst in a situation like Arsenal where we are constantly attacking he’ll find himself at home.
The reason he struggled with Blackburn at times was because they decided not to even try to score goals for long stretches in a game which is completely detrimental to his style of play. I think he’ll be a fine Gooner.
