Cesc off if Arsene is? 5 June, 2007

We all know that Cesc Fabregas loves Arsenal and is not going to be leaving but he’s just come out saying his commitment lies with Arsene Wenger more than the club. He just signed and eight-year deal recently but he has revealed that if the Manager goes, he will have to consider his future.

With David Dein leaving not so long ago, there’s been a bit of speculation about Arsene’s future. He’s meant to be selecting Dein’s replacement this summer but it’s unlikely he will be able to strike up the same sort of relationship he had with David with this new guy. I think I remember a few seasons ago Arsene saying that he would like to get us settled into the new stadium, and then move on. I think there would be a couple of players that would have a think about their Arsenal future if the great Arsene Wenger was to leave. He will one day.

It’s quite scary as a Gooner but there’s nothing we can really do about it. We just have to hope our players love Arsenal not Arsene. Cesc is a very big part of our future and I don’t really want to think about the possibility of him leaving.

Apart from the usual crap about Henry there’s a transfer link for Bakari Sagna. The Auxerre defender has set his sights on the Premiership and his agent has confirmed he wants to leave Auxerre and go to England. Whether or not we’re looking at him is another story, do we need him? Probably not. But we’ve been linked with him and now I’m just telling you.

One of our most promising youngsters, Fran Merida has caught the attention of Athletico Madrid. They are interested in a possible loan deal for next season, we would never sell him and I think Athletico have noted that. A good move for him? Well the lure of possible top-flight Spanish football is quite a good thing and the experience would do him a lot of good. However we’ve seen in recent years how Spanish players find it difficult to adapt to the Premiership and if Fran got used to La Liga then it might not be so much of a good thing.

Over on the other side of Madrid, Jose Reyes is focused on the remainder of the season and will think about his future when it finishes. In a few weeks he’s officially an Arsenal player again but don’t expect him to return to North London. He’s already said he wants to stay in Spain. Maybe he’ll join up with Merida at Athletico next season.

Thanks for reading

Thats all we need at the moment with Henry staring right at the exit. Hopefully they’ll all stay for at least one more season for one more title push.

i say if HENRY wants to go then let him go. he has served us well and maybe its time for him to move on. take the money and buy Anelka is my thoughts on this matter.
also WENGER has stated many times that he will move on and wants new experiences maybe at a national level. again the club is forever adn everyone else including fans players and managers are transigent.

I think that without a dynamic person on the board (i.e, a certain Mr Dein) then Arsene could well be off and who could blame him. All thats left on the board is a load of old dinosaurs, no modern forward thinkers and certainly no-one with dynamism. Why would AW want to stay with that lot ? Come on, someone please tell me! Unless Kroenke takes over and brings Dein back with him then we will lose AW, TH, CF and probably many more. We, no, ARSENAL NEED PHW etc to go now, times change, they were the right people at the time to have on the board BUT NOT NOW! We are in serious problems unless we get Dein back, PHW thinks we are still in the 50’s so unless he goes we will lose AW etc and then we will be doomed for years. We will never now exactly what happened in THAT boardroom meeting, but what I know is that the wrong man resigned. PHW and probably the rest of the board should have gone to leave Dein in control, this would have ensured AW would stay even beyond his managerial position as there would then have been many places on the board.
For the sake of AFC the board should go and let in a Kroenke and Dein partnership.
We need success, we need change, we need a new board.

Of course our 2 world class players will leave if the current lack of investment in quality continues. The board seem unable/unwilling to sanction the sort of spending required to make us truely competative again but continue to unrealistically expect that 5 or 6 top quality players will emerge from among the yougsters.

6. Glo - 5 June, 2007

This is not new and he said this long time ago. He said this a few weeks after Dein left.

I am suprise people have forgotten so quickly.

If that’s Fabregas’s commitment to the club that made him a top class footballer then i suggest he hurries up and sulks off back to Spain like that useless excuse for a footballer Reyes.
I think we are seeing the true side of these foreign merceneries now. Henry is looking for any little excuse to go, now Fabregas. Don’t these idiots know that if they want to win things then help the manager out. If you leave him thinking he’s gonna have to replace these players then he can’t set his mind to building a stronger team.
We had all this rubbish with Vieira and I think that’s were our problems started.
I suggest we cash in on these wannaways and put the money it to buying more committed players.

Bye Bye Cesc I don’t think you will be missed!!!!

8. Dan - 5 June, 2007

why does everyone blame the board, when time and time again we are told they have the money, wenger says he has the money, it is his stubborness not their lack of cash. we may not be able to spend 30m on a player but we clearly have enough money to buying better quality than we have been and the sort of experiance we need, we could afford to pay for parker, anelka, malouda etc, there are enough players out there in the 10m range we could get, but wenger doesn’t want to, he wants to spend 12m on walcott instead. as for fabregas, henry and gallas and co they can all sod off as far as i am concerned they are playing for arsenal not wenger. i am sick of hearing the if wenger goes story. wenger is too powerful and it is very unhealthy for the club. no other club has that man u or chelsea wouldn’t fall apart if their manager leaves. in fact we are so fragile that a if the assistant chairman leaves the world thinks the club will also fall apart it is pathetic. also dein is irrelevant we haven’t spent money for years and has nothing to do with his departure.

Boy, this transfer window has made everyone crazy, huh?

I mean, is it really a surprise that fab will go back to his home country some day? did ANYONE expect something different? don’t worry, we’ll be well compensated when it happens. And yeah, if wenger let, of course he’d be gutted. Hell, I would to, and all I’ve done is watch arsenal, not play for them.

besides, wenger’s not going anywhere right now. he’s been building this new team ever since the invincibles and it’s still a few years until that project is done. after that, who knows? he may leave. but until then, everyone should just chill the fuck out!

In my personal opinion, there’s no loyalty whatsoever to club or manager, but personal gain and benefits of some sort come up tops for people.

12. Harry - 6 June, 2007

You have to admit. Things are looking bleak for us at the moment. I can’t believe we won the league only a few seasons back! What a difference 4 or 5 years has made. We look average and rumours suggest they are not going to get any better. What was that song by Bob marley? Exodus – movement of Jah people…

13. h0pper - 6 June, 2007

This transfer period is getting crazy. I can’t wait til it’s all over, and Henry is still a gunner.

14. jnmarks - 6 June, 2007

im a gooner myself, and without sounding to pessimistic, i have a horrible feeling we are coming to the end of an era with Arsenal being in the top 4. wenger leaves, then henry and cesc leave, gilberto will want to end his career with a trophy and he’ll go somewhere else to find it, and all of a sudden we are left with a very inexperienced team and maybe even a manager that doesnt know how to handle it. plus the huge debt we are in is not helping because we cant splash out on a good signing or two. i really dont know whats going to happen, but i dont like the look of it at the moment.

15. CLOCK END GOONER - 6 June, 2007

CESC TALKS TOO MUCH. HE IS NOT IN LOVE WITH THE CLUB AS HE LIKES TO MAKE OUT. TOO MUCH CRYING FROM HIM!

16. DeiseGooner - 6 June, 2007

Dont believe everything you read guys, thats just plain gullible. I can also quote some random words from interviews from our players and make it into an “exclusive”

Headline ” Henry loves Arsenal too much to ever leave, says Fab”
Cesc Quote “I know Henry likes Barca but he loves Arsenal for everything he has given the club and what he has lived through there. If it was up to me, Henry and I would play together for the rest of our lives.”(I wouldn’t leave) for nothing in the world,” Fabregas said. “If I’m not playing or if I having a difficult time, I’ll look for what’s best for me, but I will always know that if it wasn’t for Arsenal I wouldn’t be here.”

17. Ekow - 6 June, 2007

Powel, I agree with you. viera brought all this problems on us. they come to Arsenal pants down and after being developed they all want to go. look I,m an African but I love my AFC. We should try and get some English boys in, some of these foreigners behalf like mercenaries when problems start yhey are the first to leave. Let get Micah Richards or Curtis Davies to help strenthen the CB area.

18. fdsa - 7 June, 2007

I’d consider leaving Arsenal if Arsene Wenger left. He’s the reason I started supporting the club, and I’d have to see who we’d get as a replacement before I re-affirmed my allegience. If we hired a cheque-book manager and completely changed the style of play, I’d probably lose interest in the Premier League.
Fabregas is saying that the reason he stays at Arsenal is the mentorship that Wenger provides. It’s not the pay packet, not the fame nor success (or lack of). It’s not the weekly tea-parties at the Hill-Woods’, nor the croquet games with Fizsman. If Wenger leaves, he’d have to consider his options. Imagine if Mark Hughes was brought in; how long would Fabregas last in that environment?

19. h0pper - 7 June, 2007

go to http://soccernet.espn.go.com and watch the Henry interview. In an exclusive interview with soccernet PressPass he says “I am an Arsenal player”.

Henry will not leave this year.

20. h0pper - 7 June, 2007

“So the only thing I can tell you is right now I’m an Arsenal player but hearing that [being linked to AC Milan] is nice to hear, I can’t deny it.”

Shut up hopper, you talk NON-SENSE and you stink worse then the helmet of a dogs penis

22. h0pper - 7 June, 2007

Blog head, post something constructive you fucking cunt. Also, learn some grammar. You meant to say “than”, not “then”. Retard.

23. Blog Head - 8 June, 2007

hOpper,

I think that Fabregas is taking the piss and arsenal should sell him to barca for 3 million for looking like wee willy winkle. Then let Henry go there on a free for thinking he is a god who can do whatever he pleases whilst treating arsenal like a sad, desperate little friend who kisses is arse and is lucky that he speaks to them. Wenger has now lost the plot so maybe you should get the police to search his hard drive so he gets arrested for all that child porn he’s got. These three things is what arsenal need to do this summer.

This is a very constructive comment for me hOpper because I support Tottenham. I also dont like fat people so please lay off the doughnuts or I’m never putting it in your mouth ever again.

24. h0pper - 8 June, 2007

lol. Oh, Tottenham. So you come here to bach Arsenal and Arsenal fans out of jealousy. Go home, tool.
