Djourou looking for a loan move away from Arsenal? 9 June, 2007

Johan Djourou has told The Express that he might seek a loan deal next season to gain more first team experience. He’s a had a fair few games this season but he’s serious about his future at Arsenal and wants to get more top flight games under his belt. With Kolo Toure and William Gallas around I think Johan realises he cant realistically push for a starting place. I think a loan deal would be good for him; he’s the type of player that would thrive on more football and doesn’t seem to get phased by games. Also he’s promised that he will be coming back and won’t decide that the grass is greener somewhere else like we’ve seen recently with other players we’ve loaned out. He’s what he had to say:
“I will find out more when I get back, but my long-term future is very much at Arsenal. I have shown people I have enough quality to play in a number of different positions – midfield, right-back and centre-back. I have got a lot to learn still, so maybe I need to move to another club to get some more experience. I will have a discussion with the boss.”
I think it’s quite clear that he’s not moving just to get away, he genuinely just wants to, to improve his chances at Arsenal.
The only other bit of news really is on Aliadiere’s move to ‘Boro. He still hasn’t officially gone yet but it’s been announced that a deal will be done; it’s just that Jeremie is on holiday at the moment.
Thanks for reading, see ya.

Djourou suddenly seems like the most level-headed bloke in the whole club.
So far he’s the only player to actually suggest Henry might want to quit screwing around and make a decision for the good of everyone. Dead on, too.
Having these rumours about various destinations floating around — which I suspect TH kind of enjoys — unsettles what essentially is a very young team. What’s the point? A captain should know that. Instead we need a youthful but intelligent Swiss defender to spell it out for everybody.
And now Djourou even seems to have his plan for Arsenal stardom mapped out, even though it involves a loan which would allow him more first-team football to polish his game.
Hell, from the sound of things — and from what I’ve seen of this boy when he HAS played — why not give hm Gallas’ spot and let the world’s grumpiest man go whinge somewhere else?
Djourou can have the armband, too, since he’s the only person making any sense.
Yes, I’m exaggerating a little, but Djourou was right to suggest calling a halt to the Thierry circus — one way or the other — and for that he deserves wild applause.
I hope he doesn’t go anywhere , i would rather have him playing than Senderos
He’s a brilliant prospect, there’s no doubt about it but i think he should stay put this season. Toure and Eboue will both be off to the African cup of Nations or whatever they call it for a month or so this season so that leaves space for him to fit into the starting 11 and get some more games under his belt. We could even be seeing double swiss at the back if he pairs up with Senderos which would be awesome. He’s not really going to get a chance in defensive midfield because we have far too many central midfielders at the moment, with the likes of Gilberto, cesc, diaby and denilson. And i totally agree with California Steve about Gallas…he’s just a big whinging tit and i’d be more than happy to see him left replaced by Johan.
California Steve, very valid point about Gallas – I was warned about him by chavs and they seem to be right. He and Toure don’t make a good pairing because they are too small – Galls is barely 6 feet and Toure is 5 feet 10. Personally, I thought Senderos was outstanding the season before last, but got a really raw deal when AW left him out for the totally undeserving Campbell in last year’s CL final, and this seems to have dented his confidence. Also, I think it’s about time TH took his responsibilities as club captain seriously. As a season ticket holder (of 35 years), I’m a supporter of Arsenal F C, not Henry FC or, come to that, Wenger FC. That’s not knocking what they have both done for the Club, merely putting them in contexr with something bigger than both.
any top teams need 4 good centre backs and we only have 4, with Djourou probably being 3rd best (or whisper it quietly better than Gallas), while I appreciate what he is saying I think we need him. as soon as we get one injury, suspension or tired player and with Toure at the ANC for 5 weeks he should be in the team. he’d get plenty of games next season for us. I reckon at least 20 games.

SELL SWISS TONE AND KEEP DJOUROU. ‘AVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think he should go on loan for a season as he’ll play 2/3 times the amount of games he’ll get at arsenal and he seems the type who will learn and wants to learn. Gilberto can be 4th choice centre half for the season as if he’s required to play at the back we have enough cover in midfield.
Good God. Anyone who thinks we can cope without 4 first choice centre backs is having a laugh. Do you not remember the ANC in 2006? Combined with injuried we had to play Larsson at right back, Phil and Djourou (who had hardly ever played first team football before) in the middle and that’s when Flamini got converted to the left. If we are serious about next year, that is a situation we want to avoid and if we let Djorou go, we would be down to 2 centre backs in January. Hardly clever.
Lets not let Johan go anywhere. Give him what he wants.
