Firstly I’d just like to say I’m not going to depress you with loads of pictures of Henry in the Barca strip and all that. If that’s what you want to see there’s plenty of other sites around showing them. Sorry, but I haven’t quite got over him yet.
Ryan Babel:

That is a quote from the man himself to a Dutch website. He also said that all the rumours linking him to Arsenal are just rumours at the moment but it’s interesting him saying ‘I will play at Arsenal’. So he obviously wants to play for us and surely him coming out saying this isn’t going to make the people at Ajax too happy and maybe they will get rid of him if they think his focus and commitment isn’t with Ajax.
His Dutch side won the under 21′s championship but all I’ve heard from people who had an eye on him was that he didn’t look good enough. He had flashes of good play but didn’t really look anything special overall. He seems pretty sure he’s going to Arsenal even though he says he’s had no contact with them…hmmm. We’ll see what happens with that one.
Another player who’s wants to move to Arsenal is Carlos Tevez. He says he’s exited about the possibility of Arsenal but adds he would also be interested in a move to Inter Milan. I’m not really sure whether I want Tevez; towards the end of last season I saw he is technically quite good and does know how to score a goal. He took time to adjust to the English game but I think he sorted that one out towards the end. He says he likes the Premiership and it would be good if he could stay in London and play for Arsenal. Whether or not we want him is a different story but I’ll leave that one up to Arsene. It is certainly interesting though.
Also, the Auxerre full-back Bakari Sagna has got an eye on a move to North London. He says he’s spoken to Diaby about the club and Abou said he’d like for Sagna to come. Auxerre have said there is a low possibility that he will be leaving the club however Sagna said he will not let them stand in the way if Arsenal do come in with a offer for him. I don’t know whether we actually need this player but the squad is looking very thin at the moment and I think he would be a nice little addition to the squad especially with our luck with injuries.
So there are three decent quality players who are licking their lips over the chance of moving to Arsenal. I’m sure all of their clubs will not be too happy about these recent quotes but oh well, at least they are letting it known that they want to come. I’m sure Arsene will know about this and maybe he’ll have to have a little think about each of them.
There is one player that looks likely to come though, and that’s Anelka. I’d just quickly like to say he can fuck right off. I don’t want him here. However it’s looking a strong possibility and I’ve heard he was at Arsenal last week on a good source. If he does come then I’m not going to be his biggest fan and he’s certainly going to have to prove himself to win me over. More on that one as it develops.

I understand why people are sceptical about Anelka, but you have alluded to one reason why I think he’d be a good signing, he would so have to prove himself and work so hard to win some fans over. So if he does come (if) you have to say fair play and give him some credit as he knows some (high%) fans are not happy with him.
He has been languishing around various leagues and as I have said else where, sometimes you have to go back to go forward, he has grown up and matured, if he moved here he might at last fulfil all of his potential and prosper.

Henry was my favourite player but has really dissapointed me. Tevez is excellent player and we must do everything to get him into Arsenal. And there is one more player we should get to replace Henry and it is Eduardo Da Silva one of the best forwards in the world.

Babel he has come out today and said he will sign next year, that must be to see if Wenger signs a new contract or not.I think what ever we have heard or seen of him if Wenger buys he he will make him a great player as he has done with others.I am with you on Anelka we don’t need his sort again and i don’t think Wenger will risk it.Tevez looked good but the money asked not worth it.My money would be on Huntelaar he’s top draw.Best of all would be Wenger signing then we can start the ball rolling.
i think the anelka signing would be a good one. RVP is good enough to be our 20 goal a season striker, adebayor will hopefully bring in 10 or so, bentdner and walcott are clearly still ‘works in progress’. if you bring in some like anelka for the value he’s being quoted (10m?) it makes great sense as he’s gonna take the burden of all 4 other strikers and chip in with say 10-15 goals. it was that time of experience we missed at blackburn in the fa cup game or psv at home in the CL last year.
as for babbel; i’d like to see the remainding 6 million spent on him and let him play on the wing for a couple of years. there’s a lack of quality left wingers at the moment and don’t even say malouda because that ridicolous money for somebody who is average. i’d rather bring in some one like pedersen who’d be a lot cheaper and has proven himself in the premiership.
as for sagna, if your gonna let eboue become a right midfield player then it might be worth the money, but i think this guy is just looking for a move.
i’m a bit worried that a lot of players who join our club only see it as a stepping stone to bigger things…i think this is an attitude we’ve got to get away from and promote the attitude is the ‘big club’, the ‘big move’ that you’ve always wanted…

I haven’t seen Babel or Sagna play but they sound alright – maybe they might work out or not. I think you underrate Tevez, however. Sagna or Babel or anyone else has achieved anything like what Tevez has before the age of 22. Tevez is the best player in the world, not because he is technically gifted or particularly smart, but because he has balls the size of watermelons, the hunger of a lion and the humility of a monk. He is the anti-Henry and is exactly what Arsenal need. He is capable of single-handedly making Arsenal or any other club that he joins into both league and Champions league champions.

Anelka is a C*nt, i have to give credit to him though he can come up with moments of magic. Tevez and Babel would be fantastic. 6m for Babel and perhaps 20m for Tevez seems more than an adequate price, and to be honest if Man U can spend £50m easliy for us to contend again im afraid we need to be at least hitting the £30m mark. Sagna is needed Gallas as much as i love him he is getting old and Bakari would be a good signing. I will say one other point we are not screwed if we dont sign Tevez, Anelka or Babel we do have Ade and of course we Van Persie who untill his injury was likely to be top scorer, he got 11 goals before he injured himself, although it was worth it to see those stupid mugs of the united fans!

Tevez or Martins are both great signings imo. Huntelaar seems a good signing, but have not seen him much. Without the MSI problems, I guess Wenger would buy him in a snap.

Lots of hate for Anelka I see. I’d like to see him here but he’s proving to be quite pricey at £11 million. He might be better suited to our style of play than say someone like Tevez who’s more of a pitbull type of player who happens to have finesse.

I don’t have a good feeling about Anelka so I’d rather not want him. I had a feeling that Baptista would come good at the Arsenal though so that doesn’t mean too much.
Basically Tevez would fit us but again – strange feeling in my gutts, but since it has mostly to do with the way he came to England it’s not his fault.
Robinho could be available and would be a good choice.
Sagna should be bought because he can play in any position in the back and has loads of talent.

Thanks Anon – Truth is, it is stunningly close to the truth. I fear that the answer may be from within the squad. Would it be so bad, perhaps some of the “sit down” brigade might bugger off now Henry has gone and the stadium would be full of proper fans. That way we may have songs which take off and a real atmosphere in the stadium. I would rather support Arsenal in the lower leagues than start throwing toys out of the pram because we haven’t spent Chelski style. Get realistic chaps, we aint gonna spend millions, but we have a half decent team in a stadium which will pay for itself in 2 years. Patience, Liverpool have gone 18 years and no English title. I may not be an Arsenal fan but I definitely would not have liked to see Henry leave, especially with the way he lights up matches ( even though he tends to score against the team i support ). The real challenge is to convince a World class striker to head to Arsenal. Anelka has experience. That is the real reason for anyone wanting to sign him. Besides, he is aware of the Arsenal style of play, and knows how to score goals from distance as well as from through balls. He is a tough guy to outmuscle off the ball. If you can’t already tell from my article above (heh heh) I think signing Anelka would be a big mistake for the club. Sure, he might do well in the short-term but I would be disappointed to see 10million of the money from Henry go into a short-term prospect.
I think it would be a big step backwards, purchasing a player who is an inferior carbon-copy of the man leaving. We need to freshen up our attacking structure and look to long-term solutions. Having said that if Anelka did come in I still think he would get us 15-20 goals – I just don’t think he’d do much else in the long-term.
