GALLAS WON’T BE FUCKING CAPTAIN 26 July, 2007

Posted by lasagnechef in Arsenal News.
trackback

If he is I will eat my hat. Or a cake. I’ll eat something anyway but he won’t be captain. After last night’s game Arsene was questioned about why the new captain hasn’t been announced, here’s what he said:

“In every game you need a captain. William has all the ingredients needed to be a captain along with Kolo and Gilberto. He has a lot of experience. Also centre back is the best position to captain the team because you are in a position to see all the problems on the pitch. It is a better position than a centre forward or a wide player. But we go game by game right now. At the moment the captain problem is not the biggest one. The biggest problem is to be fit.”

There Wenger has explained why Gallas had the armband for the pointless pre-season game. Well not pointless but it didn’t mean anything. The reason Kolo was not captain is because he was brought in as a late replacement for Johan Djourou. Arsene would’ve told William some time before the game that he would be captain and I’m sure he was happy with that. However when it was decided that Kolo would play, Arsene couldn’t have exactly gone to Gallas, “Sorry mate, Kolo’s playing now. You aint captain anymore.” I don’t think Bill would’ve been best pleased.

So when Sky Sports News.com come out with this headline: Wenger: Gallas could be captain, it is absolute bollocks.

Yes Gallas does have the credentials to be a captain, but just because he captained a friendly it doesn’t mean he will be the new Arsenal captain. It will be Kolo or Gilberto as Arsene said in his interview.

That is all.

first

2. Farrukh - 26 July, 2007

Thank god for that.

3. Adams - 26 July, 2007

Gallas, Gilberto or Fabregas would be captain. But like weger say, if everyone can still fit and healthy that would be the best.

4. The Joy Of Cesc - 26 July, 2007

Fabregas for captain!!

1st gun?

5. The Joy Of Cesc - 26 July, 2007

damn!

5th gun?

:D

6. Uk bubbler - 26 July, 2007

It’s a good ploy wenger, whoever wears the band leaves within a yr or so. I be worried if he said Cesc.

7. Archie - 26 July, 2007

I respect Gilberto and Gallas but I think Kolo should be the captain. I like Kolo’s commitment and discipline. He beats the other two.

8. afc - 26 July, 2007

lehman for captain!!!!!!!!

9. TINY - 26 July, 2007

GALLAS FOR ME…..CESC TOO INEXPIERENCED AND GILBERTO NOT VOCL ENOUGH. I AGREE WITH WENGER AND CENTRE HALF IS BEST POSITION….WOULD BE HAPPY IF TOURE WAS CAPTIAN AS WELL….BUT I THINK GALLAS HAS MORE EXPIERENCE AGAIN.

10. NicktheGooner - 26 July, 2007

Make gallas the captain. Brand him as the best we ever had. Atleast then someone will buy him and put us all out of the misery.

11. rico - 26 July, 2007

Not Mad Jens – no way, i would rather Traore,

Seriously, it has to be Kolo or Gilberto, Cesc for me is a little young and such responsibility at this time could effect his game, which for me this year will be his best thus far.

Kolo – well he gives everything and the armband wouldnt make any difference, but I think the boss will give it to Gilberto – he raised his game last year

Willy – no way, when the chips have been down, he moans!!

cant wait for the weekend, should be good viewing and on TV, saves watching my laptop like last few games –

heres to 07/08 season you guys

12. luke d - 26 July, 2007

i agree with afc…jens will whip them in line!!

13. Kev - 26 July, 2007

Agree totally.
Anyone who wears the armband should have red and white blood running through their veins.Gallas is NOT an Arsenal man.He made this clear by his comments.Could you imagine Tony Adams spouting the same shit about his beloved Arsenal ? I know it could be said that Vieira was a good motivator and that he wasn’t totally commited to the club (and anyone who doesn’t remember him repeatedly fucking us about every summer must have a short memory).
I would go as far to say that the last time we had a truly commited captain was when Tony Adams did the job.(Vieira went down hill as captain and Thierry was basically no good at it.)The reason ? Tony Adams loved the club.
The only man for the job is Kolo.

14. Simon - 26 July, 2007

Fabregas for Captain, or else he goes to Barca next year. Gallas for Captain or else he will have a massive strop and join United. kolo for Captain or his brother will recomend Barcelona to him. Gilberto for Captain or …… well it would just be wrong not to offer him the arm band. I want gilberto as Captain, he deserves it, simple as.

15. rico - 26 July, 2007

Kev – couldnt agree more, and dont we see week in and week out how much our club means to Kolo…

Also, good time to mention little Gael, another one who seems to be very happy and good to see a younger member putting Freddie in his place –

Freddie was always one of my heros, but it saddens me he couldnt accept his age in the way Sir Dennis Bergkamp did – did he ever moan, or part with cruel comments – NO Freddie, he didnt

16. Emkay - 26 July, 2007

Arsene said:
“Also centre back is the best position to captain the team because you are in a position to see all the problems on the pitch. It is a better position than a centre forward or a wide player’.

So why did we have to endure TH14 as the worst capatin in our history?

Kolo would be my man!

17. nick - 26 July, 2007

are u stark ravin bonkers or hasn’t your meds kicked in yet???? gallas for captain??? no soddin way should that reprobate be our captain! Ever since he got here all he’s done is cry, moan and bitch about chelsea and then cried about us not bringing in players etc He’s not been here long enough to be made captain. Paddy was here for a few seasons before he was given the armband due to Captain Marvel (Adams) retiring For me Bert should be captain and Kolo vice. At the end of the day Bert is probably the best in the world in his position. Kolo fights for everything and always has a smile on his face but captain I’m not 100% on that part. Cesc I’m sorry to say is too young at the moment and I don’t think he needs that burden on his shoulders. The same would happen to him as it did Henry – take him off his game mentally and would suffer for it. Cesc hasn’t got the presence of Viera or Adams on the pitch. Don’t get me wrong Cesc is a brilliant player but the captaincy might spoil that magic he has. Lehman would be absolute pyscho captain and the players would listen to him but he does have his moments that would cause a few rucks within the camp. So all in all Bert for the armband 110%

18. Passenal - 26 July, 2007

Emkay – I think the Henry experiment taught him the error of his ways!

19. MJ - 26 July, 2007

Got to be Gilbeto !!!! Unlike Henry, Freddie, Pires and Campbell he loves the club and respects Wenger enough to accept the gaffas decisions without looking to jump ship. No ego, no attitude just cool, calm commitment. He’s also raised his game over the last few seasons and has the respect of the younger guys.

Also gotta mention that i LOVE the attitude of the young guys in a sqaud. They donlt ca re that the old guards left, they’re focusing on their game and Wengers instilled confidence in them in their own abilities. You can see that their up for the challenge and ready to kick ass so roll on the start of the prem, GOONER FOR LIIIIIIIIIIIIIFE !!!!!!

20. KarlAFC - 26 July, 2007

It has to be Toure for captain. I’m more inclined to have a defender be our skipper, so I would opt for Kolo who is 100% Arsenal, if you know what I mean.

If Gilberto gets it, I would be very happy with that too, as he did well enough for me last season.

21. goonerinbeds - 26 July, 2007

It has to be Gilberto for Captain.
Now that Henry has gone Gallas is the last inflated ego left at AFC. He can fuck off now. We don’t need him or Kroenke or that dwarf Ecclestone.
With Hill-Wood, Edelman, Fiszman and Wenger we have long term stability, maturity and dignity. What Chelski would give for that!!
The cash is there if AW needs it but who is better than we already have. Providing we keep our young squad intact we will be at the top for the next decade at least.

22. rico - 26 July, 2007

Has anyone read the crap on soccervoice about West Ham ‘highjaking’ our target Anelka –

What a joke – he is not a target of ours, when will people learn to stop making up this crap about our team

will freddie be replaced – hope so??

23. GJ - 26 July, 2007

The new captain will be the mysterious super super quality player that the boss is shortly to unveil.

24. BERRY - 26 July, 2007

we should buy stephen appiah he would make a good captain……but i want toure he will be a good captain…..gallas captain things couldnt get no worse who ever the captain is

25. V - 26 July, 2007

Please no…….Gilberto for captian! Has to be!!

26. John - 26 July, 2007

When at Chelsea he was influential as Terry. Please do your homework before dismissing him.

27. afc - 26 July, 2007

lehman for captain! he wont take no schit.

28. geez - 26 July, 2007

Kolo or No one

29. Dermo - 26 July, 2007

who give a fuck who your captain is. It will matter NOT!

Cmon you SPURS

30. Donjohnni - 26 July, 2007

Song for Captain.

To Dermo the spurs fan – isn’t there a dogshit you should be feeding off – you disgusting parasite.

31. Ad - 26 July, 2007

Why are some wanks so proud when they post first to threads like this. Especially when all they do is say “First”. FFS grow the fuck up.
Toure will be captain, he just wasn’t last night for the exact reasons mentuioned in the main thread. Toure was a late stand in and Gilberto is having a rest. What you can take from Wenger’s statement is a thinly veiled announcement that kolo is our new captain. Then sometime soon Fab will take over. End of!

32. Al - 26 July, 2007

Gilberto Silva – Captain of Brasil, the best country in the world – Captain of Arsenal Football Club, the best club in the world. The best defensive midfielder in the world.

33. txetoo - 26 July, 2007

Gallas nooooooo

34. DeeOzGooner - 26 July, 2007

I think Gallas has been a prik recently, but to get the absolute best out of him (and he is fkn good!) i think the armband would be the best thing. He’s the most experienced, has won trophies and would take it very very seriously!

Gallas as captain would force him to play at his utmost, without being a whinging bas***d!…and if we’re not gona sell him, then i’d want him at his best…

35. Jack - 26 July, 2007

seems you are as outspoken as gallas is. maybe you should reconsider your arsenal blog.

36. may2689 - 26 July, 2007

It don`t matter a fuck who is captain. The real problem is that we are not good enough to challenge for the Premiership or the Champions League because we are FUCKING BROKE! That`s why DD is gone and the rest of the board don`t give a flying fuck as long as their investment in our beloved club pays them a fuck of a lot of money. Why are we the only club of the big four who never spends big dosh? Even spurs are out spending us. Expect another frustrating season!

37. One_Touch_Genius - 27 July, 2007

Kolo or Gilberto really, i think it would make more sense to have Kolo as captain as i see Denilson and Diaby fighting over Gilberto’s place in the coming seasons. Toure is younger and in theory should have a longer career than Gilberto has he is in his 30’s. Basically don’t be suprised to see Gilberto replaced in midfield in a year or two times, so why make him captain? Though he proved himself as a class act as captain last season and behaved more of a captain than a certain dancing(not with the ball..) frenchman

38. P - 27 July, 2007

I don’t know that Gilberto will be guaranteed his place this season and certainly won’t be available for the first couple of games. 34. DeeOzGooner makes some good points (you do know something about footie Down Under!). Making Gallas captain will improve his game. However like many other Gooners I’m not convinced about the Gallas/Toure partnership. For me that concern is only second to the lack of goals from midfield.

39. sanfrangoon - 27 July, 2007

yeah, what that guy said.

40. Archie The Leper - 27 July, 2007

That Archie above is an imposter Lasagnechef, it wasn’t me anyhow

41. nottagooner4sure - 27 July, 2007

Stop worrying about your captain, you’re gonna be shite again anyway.
This morning’s headlines had a Wenger quote about your new boy de sliva in your last friendly, “he could have scored 4, and should have had a penalty”…..

…er, this sound familiar.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

42. afc - 27 July, 2007

COME ON YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPER GUNNERS!!!!!
We’re gonna win the lot this year,
league, fa cup, champs league and the two bob cup to boot !!! Its all coming to highbury (emirates) and no one is going to stop us!!
With lehman giving those young heroes a rocket every now and again as captain we cant go wrong.
Mark my words…. “we’re in for one heck of a season”.

I cant fucking wait!!!!

45. alfa - 27 July, 2007

GIlberto is brilliant but he is too quiet. Gallas would be a disaster.Cesc should be a future captain but now he is too young. Kolo should definately be captain. He is outspoken, mature, energetic and a good leader

46. lillywhite - 27 July, 2007

I reckon you should make gallas captain, he’s a cunt like the rest of you gooner scum!!!

47. Kingston - 27 July, 2007

Gilberto did a fine job in Thierry’s absence last season. He seemed to get the guys going in the matches i saw him in. Yes, he may not be the most vocal of players, BUT his attitude and displays on the pitch last season did a lot of his talking for him. Plus, I would have thought that the whole of the squad respect him as a senior player; perhaps more so than Gallas, who needs to learn to keep his gob shut. If the extract from Wengers statement is true, it is finally admittance that he only gave the captaincy to Thierry to try and keep him at the club. Not sure that this should be a determining factor in bestowing such a honour on a player. So, to return to who should be captain, Gilberto is the man to lead Arsenal and I would have a loyal, committed, inspirational, never say die centre back as the vice captain….not Gallas but King Kolo! Then when Gilberto moves on, pass the captaincy to Kolo and vice captaincy to Cesc.
I live in hope of a fruitful 2007-2008 season. If we convert half the chances which were missed last year, we’ll be right up there in the mix. Expect midfield to contribute much more this year. I have put money on Cesc easily reaching double figures. COME ON THE MIGHTY GOONERS!!!!

48. luke d - 27 July, 2007

lillywhite………the name says it all you fukin yid cunt..fuck off and die!!!!

49. arsenalist - 27 July, 2007

Yeah, I agree. Gallas is about as fit to be captain as Fabregas is to a translator.

Some news from today:
Benfica just got Angel Di Maria
Darren Bent thinks he can take Arsenal

50. limpar - 27 July, 2007

what a load of self righteous crap. gilberto’s far too introverted to be captain. this guy is so chilled he’s half asleep most of the time. not what we need. kolo’s a fucking headless chicken and cesc is only 12. that’s what happens when you sell everyone with any real experience, god knows i wouldn’t make gallas captain if i had the choice.

Di maria is on his way to benfica as arsene Wenger could not get a work permit for him and didn’t want to send him out on loan. When reyes gets sold he will move for a left sided winger either vicente of Valencia or royston drenthe of feyenord. you could also see Arsenal move for some wonderkids as well, hector moreno a center back from mexico, lebohang mokoena a attaking versatile midfielder from southe africa and will also he very cheap.

Come on you gunners

just read this on a rumours blog, so pasted it.

60. willie young - 27 July, 2007

does anyone know if the emirates stadium has the capability of increasing its capacity, i heard on sky that there is a 20,000 waiting list for season tickets.

61. morph - 27 July, 2007

willie young

its true there is a fat waiting list!! they should of made the ground bigger ,say 80.000 we would still fill it!! its a joke it will take years to get a season ticket if at all!! and no it doesnt have the capability to expand!!

Anyone ever heard of an african getting heat exhaustion before? Adebayor is out of this weekends tournament because the heat at our training camp has had a bad effect on him – you could not make this stuff up could you?

I am getting a bit worried now – less than 3 weeks until the new season kicks off and we have 3 players injured (well sort of) and our new striker has been knocked back for a work permit. Wenger has said that we have a squad of about 20 players, 3 players out and 1 who cant play for us yet, this leaves 16 players – the exact amount we need for each game, actually it means we will also be having 2 keepers on the bench.

If we dont bring in a player or 2 now Wenger will be shitting himself any time one of our player gets tackled incase they get injured. Its a good job we have the likes of Brady, Rice and Bould at the club as we are going to have to register them as players again.

65. kiki.manga - 28 July, 2007

A real view of arsenal chances this season

The 2 questions which really matters are:

1) Are we, position for position, stronger this year ?
2) Can we cope with injuries and the african cup?

1) If you look at the arrivals and departure, this arsenal team is a bit weaker than last year with the lost of Henry.
Whatever people said, you are kidding yourself if you believe that we are not losing one of the best player in the world ( Which player could fetch a fee of £16 millions at 30 and 2 seasons with plenty of injuries). Why do you think arsene wanted to keep him for 1 or 2 more seasons.

The arrival of Dudu, an unproven player in the premiership (even if he looked quiet good in youth tube and the friendly) and Bakary is not the kind of signing who will make a real difference (at least the first year). Which player in the premiership did really well the first year?

Dudu is probably a 10 or 15 goals player the first year which is about the same as a half fit henry.

On the positive side we are stronger because of the increase of premiership experience for the majority of our team and simply the fact that our young player are getting physicaly bigger (see clichy, fabregas etc…).

It is as well the third or fourth years that those young players play together and the team spirit, unity must be quiet strong now ( probably the hunger as well).

POSITION FOR POSITION WE ARE DEFINITLY NOT STRONGER THAN LAST YEAR BUT AS A UNIT WE PROBABLY ARE.

I think that unity will take us in the top 2 of the premiership .

Unity and experience is probably the most important over the all season (look at chelsea, liverpool or man u the last 4 seasons when they were all winner without big stars).
Chelsea didn’t win the moment they started to rely on Drogba, Man u won without Van Nis and Liverpool play as a unit.

2) I think this team is big enough to cope with injuries or the african cup. Obviously there is no much you can do when you lose your 2 main strikers ( arsenal or any others teams ). Does chelsea, liverpool or man u have better player on the bench ( with more experience maybe but better no). Are they better than Diaby, Denilson, Walcott, Bentner, Dudu (depend how you see the first 11 ) ?.
On the paper those players have as much experience in the premiership than theirs.

Arsenal forever

66. peter hill wood - 28 July, 2007

your shitty website is crap.
why the big letters, you are that old!
gallas is right in everything he says!
he will be the next one to leave!
then fabregras then lehman will retire and gilberto will leave after only being offered a 1 year deal and toure eboue and akinbayor will be the new arsenal!
we will never win anything again with wenger FACT!
he will sign a contract, where else would he get away with what he’s doing now!
plus if he signs ,he would get paid the whole ammount should he get sacked this year , when we are out the title race in 1st 8 games and out the champs league in qualifiers.then those cunts can take action and sack him!

67. peter hill wood - 28 July, 2007

why all you mo fo’s moaning at gallas?
there was nothing wrong with what he said!
shame wanker ,sorry wenger hasn’t as much passion to say, and just pockets his huge bonus’s via the jersey islands that you cunts don’t know about!
wenger will not take this club any more forward only backwards, but he is making us very rich! and we in the board say!! SOD YOU PEASANTS! we are making money and as long as he delivers champs league football we will be rolloing in it!
if any of those saps, who purchase expensive season tickets don’t return ,then there is plenty more who will purchase, and we know that! hence why wwe can do what we like!!!!HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHA, YOU MUGS ,,,AND WE ARE TAKING YOU FOR EVERYTHING THAT YOU GOT, SUBCONCIOUSLY!!!!!!!
