Well Last night we lost to Red Bull Salzburg 1-0. Highlights are below.
It might be a nothing pre-season friendly, but still…we lost. And whatever game it is, when Arsenal lose I don’t like it. All the optimism I had ahead of the new season has died down and I’m starting to worry. It’s not becasue of last night’s performance or result…nothing like that. It is just the fact that Arsenal lost. That’s it. I dunno, I just don’t take defeat too well as some of you might’ve read in some of last season’s match reports.
All I saw of the game was the highlights above, however what I can note from that video is that Fabianski is definately a third ‘keeper. He’s going to have to do a lot of work to one day be an Arsenal first team goalkeeper. Also I did pick up of Eduardo’s talent; he looked exactly the player I thought he might turn out to be, everywhere on the pitch taking snap shots at goal at any oppertunity. Wenger said ‘he should’ve scored four’ and he’s right. I just hope he can transfer his skill to the Premier League. Diaby and Denilson looked good in midfield from what I saw and Sagna looks a good right back.
I can’t really comment on the gam from only seeing those hihglights but it still looked like we deserved the win. Their goal came from shit defending and mad goalkeeping with the shot going in with a deflection. Oh well, this loss doesn’t mean anything.
The next game is on Saturday in the Emirates Cup against PSG, then we face Inter on Sunday.
Yesterday I talked about our squad and how with the loss of Ljungerg we definately need a winger for the squad. Well after last night’s game Arsene said he will ‘not necessarily’ buy a replacement and that it is ‘too early to say’. Well if he doesn’t I personnaly think he should’ve done. Maybe he’ll wait until January? Who knows. In Arsene we trust.
Lastly there’s the news that Lehmann has been called up the German sqaud for the friendly against England at Wembley on 22nd July. Jens got a clean sheet in the first half of the Salzburg game last night. Also Traore has been named in the French U18 squad and Fran Merida gets a call up to the Spanish U17′s.
Thanks for reading.

YOU REALLY MUST TAKE A CHILL PILL DUDE.
The highlights don’t show what the true game was.
First gun.
damn i didn’t get first.
Farrukh you are so right. Dudu was not that good,he got muscled off the ball several times, he may be better on the wing,Hleb had a good game on the left wing, but his crosses were not great.
Wenger speak is the same as last year we could have, should have scored five, BS
Toure and Gallas no good together, Diably tacles were overzealous, and RVP was very moody when nothing went his way. Rosicky still injury prone.
solgooner – Rosicky was threatening until he got injured. I really like him but what is the deal with his hamstring??
Dudu doesn’t seem to have much pace so I’m worried about him on the wing!
Diaby was very reckless with his tackles… I see a few cards for him this year!
Fabianski is a lot better than the highlights show. His positional awareness was good and the goal wasn’t his fault at all.
The pitch was comparable to a mine field after an army walked over it. eduardo was great and had great chances but the weird bounces of the ball ruined his chances. Sagna looked good and made his runs felt and he has made a good impression. Eboue, as usual got pissed off with half the other team and beyond that he was average. I don’t want him on the wing. I have no belief in him as a winger.
i am for a 4-3-3 next season
with the right covered by Diaby in collaboration with RVP. middle covered by Fabregas and left by Rosicky. up front i count on the Ade, Eduardo, RVP line to really hurt defences as they are 3 different yet very complementary strikers! Defence Clichy, Gallas, Toure, Sagna.
However, I think we do need our gilberto so a 4-2-2(wide)-2 or a 4-1-3-2 could be options.
A news more efficient winger would be the key to returning to Wenger’s classic yet solid 4-4-2. at the moment we do rely on the polyvalence of players (Diaby, Theo, RVP…)
The match yesterday meant nothing as we were far from match fit but interesting points could be seen especially in the justification for the 2 new signings!
Cheers
I agree with post. I am worried.
I am a life long gooner but i watched last nites game & it looked alot like west ham & fulham (until last 10mins) & the rest of most games at emirates last season..
lots of passing/possession but no goals then the poorer side score..
Wenger looked in pain on the sidelines which is not good in a pre season friendly IMO..
I was at emirates last year for west ham & fulham & i really hoped Hleb would never pull on an arsenal shirt again.. he is awful
I was feelin positive before last nite but nuthin appears to have changed from last years frustrations except we have lost Thierry Henry.. Wenger needs to accept we need to spend decent money on at least 2 players.. A TEAM NEEDS AT LEAST 1 NATURAL WINGER!!
We havent got one natural wide player its unthinkable????
Limpar, Overmars, Pires where is our player of the same calibre in this current team???
We have no natural width & we will not win anything unless they sign someone asap!! When will Wenger realise!! I am not sure he will….
Goona P: Hleb was by far the best player on the pitch last night.
People need to get off the blame Hleb bandwagon.
Farrukh – you are a fool if you think Hleb was the best player on the pitch last night – i dont know what game you were watching!!
He is useless – brings nothing to the team…
“was at emirates last year for west ham & fulham & i really hoped Hleb would never pull on an arsenal shirt again.. he is awful”
So in the light of those particular games you´ve come to the conclusion that he´s shit? I guess in your eyes he had stinker yesterday too?
Brings nothing?
He beat his man on numerouas occasions and creatd the majority of chances that we had in the second half. Did you even watch the game?
Unbelievable!

- need some kind of left winger.
- eboue is a tit.
- hleb might work well at Derby or somewhere.
- squad looks thin, which is a pity because there is so much talent.
- Gilberto for captain, Toure v-c.
Thanks Chapman. Matt is just a chump who’s flaming Hleb on every blog site he finds.
I stand by Hleb was the best player last night and Matt you need to open your eyes.
“He beat his man on numerouas occasions”
I agree ive seen him do that 100′s of times but there is never repeat NEVER an end result..
At the west ham game last year at one point a west ham defender feel over & was on his arse but still manged to dispossess Hleb i couldnt believe my eyes.. im not just blaming Hleb but i am entitled to my view & i dont think he is good enuf to play for arsenal.
Im not gonna argue i love Arsenal to death and always will i just want to feel we are goin to be able to compete for trophies this year but i seriously with the squad we have dont think we will…
Eduardo looked good tho i enjoyed his performance alot aswell as Abou & Denilson..
We just need some natural width esp with new pich at emirates..
Fair play Goona P, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
I was at the Blackburn Match (the 6-2 one) and Hleb was awesome then. He’s shown he can be awesome but he really is a hit and miss player. He needs consistancy; lets get behind out team and hope Hleb delivers this time.
I do not think i am in the minority when i ‘flame’ (what the fuck language is that!) Hleb…
Everybody who goes week in week out to the games – as i do – knows he is a poor player, with no end result…
and who is reffering to the past now Farrukh?
Hleb played well against Blackburn when we knocked 6 past them- woo hoo…. we won what for that?
Matt you’re a class A PR1CK. End of discussion.
He also scored the 7th against Boro.
LOL – highly intelligent end of discussion…….
If you cant have a sensible debate about football, dont come on blogs you muppet.
Now save up some money and get a season ticket – and then you will see how good Hleb is…
Ha Ha Ha…this game is a must win game for the Red Bull Salzburg cause is the official opening of their stadium…if this BULLS have lost their launching of their stadium would have been sad memory for their fans…..I believe Arsenal FC were soft on this so call BULLS!!!, that was ‘nt a true Arsenal team on their pitch!!!
Matt you’re genuinely one thick plank. Go support the spuds like you should.
I’ve stopped hating Hleb the same way that I’ve stopped hating George W Bush.
There’s no point – some people just seem to think they are great, for reasons that are beyond my tiny understanding of the world.
Life is too short to be bothered with it. They will both disappear, eventually.
Peace will return, and Arsenal will start to score goals from wide positions…
If you dont like Hleb, fair enough, thats your decision. Personally i think it will be a good season for him and i hope that some people on here will return and admit they were wrong.
In terms of the Salzburg game though, to say he was rubbish and had no end product is a lie.
Watch the game, or even the highlights.
He beat his man and found an arsenal shirt in the box on more than one occasion.
welcome to my site~:)
I will be the first person to come back here and sing his praises if he does well this season.
I am an Arsenal football club fan first and foremost, and want my team to do well – but this guy is not good enough.
He has had 2 seasons to show us he is – so why will this season be any different?
Oh and Farrukh – why would i support Spurs when i have been a season ticket holder at AFC for over 10 years??
Your intelligence scares me – i assume your Mensa application is in the post?
Firstly, every player takes time to adapt to the Prem in their first season (with one or two exceptions). Then, just as he gets used to our style of play, we move stadiums and he has to adapt again. This doesn’t just go for Hleb, i think that our overall performance will be significantly higher now that we are used to the Emirates now.
If he blows hot and cold again this season, i’ll admit that he needs to go..
Poor Poor Reyes. Needs to go to a league that won’t kick him.
Poor guy. He needs looking after from those big bad bully English boys.
I am aware this is going to sound like a ‘my friends cats dogs aunts zen master’ story but I can assure you it is not. I went for a tour around the emerites yesterday and while waiting I asked the tour guide if they often have any players coming round before joining. He said he could not say. My brother asked if players go round who are not of AW’s interest to which he replied ‘no, there is no need unless they are joining’ We eventually managed to get out of his young assistant (I myself am 15, my brother 19 so he talked to us a fair bit throught the hour) said that Curtis Davies had been shown around yesterday and that Appiah is booked for the 19th August (just days before Ghana play at the den). The big news from this guy is that Arsene Wenger is trying to convince Shaun Wright–Phillips as Freddies replacement and that Arsene Wenger wants to resolve JA Reyes’ future, trying to negotiate either Robinho of Madrid or possibly Quaresma of Porto though the first is his preferred option.
As I said this is just information I have been passed and may be led on slightly but as a regular visiter, not really a poster on this site, I thought the Gunners on the site may wish to know from someone potentially in the know.
…. whats the latest on Reyes ( the big girls blouse)?
Reyes has been offreed contracy by Lyon and 8 million fee has been agreed.
All the crap on nessage 30 is just that
Farrukh,
Hleb is shit and so are your clothes.
Matt,
Can you please put your middle finger in my bum hole and then suck on the finger
…..is that really terry mancini?
Look its like this , lots of people are on hlebs back because it seems to be in fassion at the moment to be slating him, if people watch him play it is ery cear to see his potential.
Il put it as simple as i can for you , if hleb scored 10-15 goals a season he would be one of the best in the prem , thats all thats missing from his game, and i think his goal tally will increas this season
hleb needs a bloody good haircut……….and a chat with his agent!!
the arsenal forum,
“if hleb scored 10-15 goals a season he would be one of the best in the prem , thats all thats missing from his game”
That just might be the stupidest comment ever made in the history of stupid comments
Well said old boy
you lot make me laugh, hleb is world class, as i said in a previous post he created most our chances last season when it was our STRIKERS who failed to convert – but make no mistake hleb delivers. I wonder sometimes how sometimes some gooners simply do not understand the game it’s those who also cry out “we need big names”. well stuff u lot cause I for one am glad hleb is looking on form for the start of the new season. The result of this game is simply irrelevant, diaby was immense and yet i find myself rolling on the floor laughing as a lot of you still mock him..tut tut tut…eduardo might have missed a few but there is no doubt what so ever he will bang goals in left right and centre he looks ruthless and is willing to work very hard for the team. not to mention it was his 1st full game..just u wait till u see next season. Like wenger said we dont necessarily need 2 replace ljungberg, we just need 1 or 2 centre back’s who can dominate in the air and are good positionally on set peices. You Really Make Me Laugh – hahahahHAHAHA whinging and whining, i cant wait to see what u all say when we’re holding up that title come next may. Matt – u are the fool, oh yes u are. DEAR ME
Does everyone remember 03 /04 pre season, we lost to Barnet,BARNET and guess what happened
….please tell me
Dont worry,
All thats missing from arsenal is Hleb getting fifteen goals, Gallas getting thirty, Rosiscky 20goals and Flamini 50 goals. Thats all thats missing from theres games and then the title is yours
first of all – top blog,
second – I thoroughly enjoyed the “debate” between Matt and Farrukh but I would be leaning towards liking Hleb as a player (but also think he could do more) would like to see him have a really outstanding season this year.
Ye’s are all a bunch of Bitches Hleb is a good player not a great player that wereused to at arsenal. Don’t forget who bought the man, Arsene Wenger i’ve never seen a player like him before very technical. He just needs to put away his chances like the rest of the squad. Wait and see before you keep completely writing him off!!
You lot are a bunch of cunts. Use your own eyes, and stop repeating what other thick fans say. Hleb will be our best player in 9 games out of 10, but every game I have to read this shit. Just watch the matches will you. There’s no complaints about Rosicky .. yet he doesn’t beat any men like Hleb does, and doesn’t create any chances like Hleb does. Last night, our only chance of creating a chance is Hleb, it was the same all last season, the entire team plays through Hleb, WAKE UP donuts! You’d have to be a blind man now to see how well he played last night. Slagging off the player that is behind the majority of our good football is disgraceful. Hey, try watching us without him, see how much you like that, not much I can assure you, we were dogshit in every game he was missing from last season.
We simply need quality within the team and squad. Look at Man utd, Chelsea and Liverpool at the moment they are way ahead of us and I not like it. I’m fed up of looking on teletext, the net and newspapers for potential signings only for nothing too immediate to be happening.
We need to get these 4 players:
Adriano (Inter Milan) Replacement for Henry
Nasri (Marsille) The new Zidane
Phillipe Mexes (AS Roma) Rock solid
Daniel Alves (Seville) Adaptable RB/RW
Then We can challenge on all fronts.
Hleb has potential. but he is 26 or 27. Last season like Ljungberg and Henry he had very bad games. He shows signs of genius sometimes where Ljungberg had to go. He still has something to offer. He must deliver this season.
I like the pace and directness of Dudu. he will win many pens like AJ of Everton. they are alike but Dudu is better i believe. I cant wait to see more of him.
Diarby is class, alot like Vieira and will get carded just like him.
we did need the rback. last season we had so many injuries it was like a joke. Any decent defender is a plus to any side. it cost chelski the title.
i hate chelski
stop slaging of hleb!! he has skill and goes past people, last season he was involved in alot of quality goals, he can open up defences,so what if the odd pass goes astray…who would you rather have pennant or someone who just passes or crosses as soon as a defender comes along!!!
another thing…the commentaters said that hleb had a good game!! there the ones getting paid for there views whilst you lot(matt..goona pee…)are just chatting shit on these fukin joe blogs!!! cunts!!!
50th gun!!!! way hay!!!
I seem to remember, just sitting here off the top of my head, two very nice “results” created by Hleb last season in big matches, 1) Flamini’s goal v. Chelsea, 2) Rosicky’s 1st v Liverpool in the FA Cup. He has a bad habit of making shocking passes at time, true, but he’s got huge talent, works his ass off, and creates a fuck of a lot.
hleb cant shoot and cant pass that well…but he is great controller of ball and dribbles beautifully…he shud carry ball from deep positions from our mid filed to opponents and give it to likes of fabragas to do something about it…
A real view of arsenal chances this season
The 2 questions which really matters are:
1) Are we, position for position, stronger this year ?
2) Can we cope with injuries and the african cup?
1) If you look at the arrivals and departure, this arsenal team is a bit weaker than last year with the lost of Henry.
Whatever people said, you are kidding yourself if you believe that we are not losing one of the best player in the world ( Which player could fetch a fee of £16 millions at 30 and 2 seasons with plenty of injuries). Why do you think arsene wanted to keep him for 1 or 2 more seasons.
The arrival of Dudu, an unproven player in the premiership (even if he looked quiet good in youth tube and the friendly) and Bakary is not the kind of signing who will make a real difference (at least the first year). Which player in the premiership did really well the first year?
Dudu is probably a 10 or 15 goals player the first year which is about the same as a half fit henry.
On the positive side we are stronger because of the increase of premiership experience for the majority of our team and simply the fact that our young player are getting physicaly bigger (see clichy, fabregas etc…).
It is as well the third or fourth years that those young players play together and the team spirit, unity must be quiet strong now ( probably the hunger as well).
POSITION FOR POSITION WE ARE DEFINITLY NOT STRONGER THAN LAST YEAR BUT AS A UNIT WE PROBABLY ARE.
I think that unity will take us in the top 2 of the premiership .
Unity and experience is probably the most important over the all season (look at chelsea, liverpool or man u the last 4 seasons when they were all winner without big stars).
Chelsea didn’t win the moment they started to rely on Drogba, Man u won without Van Nis and Liverpool play as a unit.
2) I think this team is big enough to cope with injuries or the african cup. Obviously there is no much you can do when you lose your 2 main strikers ( arsenal or any others teams ). Does chelsea, liverpool or man u have better player on the bench ( with more experience maybe but better no). Are they better than Diaby, Denilson, Walcott, Bentner, Dudu (depend how you see the first 11 ) ?.
On the paper those players have as much experience in the premiership than theirs.
Arsenal forever
