Fulham Preview - The Prem is back. 11 August, 2007

Ashburton Grove

Yes the opening weekend of the Premiership (or whatever the fuck it’s called now) is finally here and it’s started with a bang…a 94th minute Sunderland winner against the scum. Haha love it :P

We play tomorrow at home and Fulham are the visitors. I mentioned yesterday that Gilberto is out and Ade is unlikely to play, well you can add Eduardo to that list now as he’ll have a late fitness test. He looks likely to feature though and this is what Le Boss said about him:

“Certainly I would not be scared to play him. Maybe he will need a little bit of time but he is a fighter. He has the ability to score goals, he is quick and a team player so you are never scared to put in these players.”

If there’s any doubt about his injury I don’t think Arsene will risk him in a game like this. We could go with Hleb centrally behind Van Persie but that might be a bit defensive so there’s also the option of having the hungry Theo Walcott partnering the Dutchman.

The result of tomorrow’s game could really be anything; we’ve looked up for it this pre-season and we could thrash Fulham by a few goals, or maybe just nick it by one. However, I’m sure Fulham won’t be there just to make up the numbers, we cant underestimate them…last season Villa came on the opening day and frustrated us to a 1-1 draw. Don’t be too surprised if that happens again.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the atmosphere will be tomorrow, it was quite disappointing last season at times and with the departures we’ve had this summer we really need the fans to get behind this young side. I’m thinking it’ll be good but we’ll have to wait and see.

Right-i-o I have to get to work now. Enjoy the game tomorrow and should have a match report up Monday.

So, what’s your predictions? Mine? 2-0 Arsenal.

got a bet on 2-0, i just can’t see fulham really going at us. Love the sunderland spud game! lol. It’s ridiculous to see them spending over 16m on an area of the team which didnt need strengthening, instead of their worrying lack of creativity in the middle of the park. ha

8. gazzap - 11 August, 2007

thing that will harm spuds is they have 4 strikers who all beleive they are equal to one another and they all think they should play. the best teams have 4 good strikers but normally one or two of them know their place and take their chance to play when it comes their way. I think the 16m was a complete waste of money as well. they did not look that great in midfield or defence either, but then they rarely ever did so nothing has changed. Blackburn and Everton are the ones to watch for.

I wont predict our score, but Fulham will know their limitations and will get men behind the ball in an attempt to frustrate us. it’ll be a good test of what’s to come this season, espeically at home.

Wow… you gotta give it to the scum to make me feel better about us not spending much money. What a way to spend/waste like the largest amount of money ever (well 2nd most, i think this year and last 2 years) and well… simply, play like crap. Scum finish above us… yeah right!

Oh yeah, Arsenal wins 3-1

12. Adz - 12 August, 2007

Fulham 1-0

13. Alex - 12 August, 2007

Adz you are a SCUMBAG.
Arsenal have given a trial to Honduras 23 year old winger Wilson Palacios. He looks reasonably good on Youtube.

Gazzap after todays display do you think we will finish in top four with existing squad?

15. Jack Scurvy - 12 August, 2007

Way to go, Gunners! Yeah, I know… same old shit, come from behind win. We can’t do another 22 come from behind wins this year, but a win is a win. Fucking Jens Lemon. I felt embarrassed for him, but he did pull off some nice saves after the blunder @ 0′56″. He almost looked as good as Warner, despite the score ;)

great win, great spirit n resilliance 2 come back, main thing for the 1st couple of games is to win and we’ll eventually get into our stride i’m not worried about that. what really pissed me off in a big way was sanchez’s comment’s after the game, was he watching the same game? hleb didnt dive once…he’s not the biggest guy in the world hleb and it wouldnt take that much to get him knocked over, he is no cheat. he had the audacity to bring up the premier league meeting talking about cutting down on simulation saying wenger was there too and shudve took note…and THEN, to have the BALLS, to say his player had been “clearly tripped” in the box by fabregas just was the tip of the iceberg 4 me, he clearly TRIPPED OVER HIMSELF, sour pratt. I genuinly hope his side get relegated he’s put the game in disrepute in my view and he should be dealt with by the f.a. If there’s one thing arsenal are not, it’s cheats..our team couldnt be more honest compared to every other 1 in the league.
