Injury problems and we’ve only played two games 18 August, 2007

Fair enough they’re not anything serious but we’re picking up early knocks all over the place. Maybe you could put this down to not being fully match fit at this early stage of the season but it is still not good. Maybe this will tempt Wenger into the transfer market but I have a strong feeling the chequebook is firmly closed.
The new injuries to report are Rosicky and Eboue with slight problems from Wednesday night’s physical game. Our squad was thin in the winger department before these injuries and now it does give us some problems. I think Denilson is back now and it looks like Eduardo could be too:
“Eduardo might be back. I’m not sure if he will start because he has not done a lot yet. He had a little session today, but that was the first time with the team. He will have a test tomorrow morning and then I will decide. At the moment I am tempted to say no but he will be in the squad. If he is ok physically that means there’s no big pain in the ankle, but I will see. He is a brave player.”
It is only a might but if he’s back then that’s good news. Ade, Gilberto and Diaby are all still unavailable. So, in my opinion, these our the options for tomorrow’s game:
Hleb’s done really well for us in the middle and I think he would’ve started there tomorrow if it weren’t for these injuries but he might be put out on the left wing. Then I think little Theo will have to come in on the right. It’s bound to be a physical game so he’s going to have to show how much he’s grown up this season. Denilson played out wide against Liverpool last season and I was really impressed with him so he is another option but I think Hleb and Walcott are the most likely options.
Then up front I think we should start with Van Persie and Bendtner. Nick’s power and heading ability might come handy this game and it could be his chance to shine. If Eduardo is fit then I think he should be an option Wenger has on the bench if we have to chase the game.
If we wanted to go with 5 in midfield then it could be Hleb – Denilson – Fabregas – Flamini – Walcott with Van Persie up top. We know Robin can play on the wing too but he is wasted there and he is by far our best striker.
We can cope with the injuries we have but it’s getting down to the bare bones. Ade should be back for Man City and Gilberto comes back in September. All the others will return in one, two or three games I hope. We’ll be alright then but touch wood we’re not adding more names to the injury list come Monday.
The only other bit of news is on Arsene’s contract. On Friday Arsene said with a big smile, “We are very soon. Very, very soon.” I hope once his contract is all sorted he can convince some new players to sign contacts at Arsenal too.
Tottenham are winning 3-0 at the moment. Don’t worry, it’s only Derby. Thanks for reading.

EXACTLY INJURIES SO Y THE FUCK DONT WE SIGN ANYONE
- – - – - – Lehmann
Sagna – Toure – Gallas – Clichy
Walcott – Cesc – Denilson – Hleb
- – - – Rvp – Bendtner/Eduardo
Eduardo/Bendtner off the bench
Wenger is overly cautious, I’m sure he rests players under the guise of injuries too – better than having a rotation policy scrutinised.
A knock on the nee. Thats not an injury. Thats Rosicky being dropped for poor form.
sign sign sign sign sign!!!!!! is that all we fans think about????
listen to the boss – we are fine…..
hat do you want, a hat full of unhappy players, sitting on the bench week in week out, SWP comes to mind, or a happy squad full of desire
the boss will sign, dots and t’s need to be crossed
this season will be great……
I’d like to see this line up for tommorrow, to provide addtional height and muscle and to make the team more robust than usual, given the nature of our opponents:
Lehmann
Sagna Senderos Gallas Clichy
Toure
Van Persie Fabregas Flamini Hleb
Bendtner
Priest i agree with you, i’ve said that for a while. I think he wants to see Eduardo have a dip, he looked good in preseason. Also Eboue has hardly set the world on fire. I’m mildly worried about tomorrow. I think we could really use a big lad a DCM to support the two boys at the back who aren’t the tallest especially with Santa Cruz about who looks a monster in the air. Does anyone know anything about Gilberto? I heard mid September till he’s match fit? What was he doing in Brazil? Captaining the side or smoking crack? Sounds strange especially with all of this Juve talk following on from his obvious unhappiness about being captain.
congratulatios arsenal for doing us proud without henry.you can do better and better without him.gallas we are looking upon you to lead arsenal to major trophies this season
Magneto,
that team would not work at all.
Senderos is very left footed, so he cannot play as a right centre-half.
Despite being right sided, Gallas play mainly as the left centre-half. With regard to your team, they would have to switch their respective position.
Kolo Toure is not a midfield enforcer. His main force is his combination of pace and power to either retrieve situation or go forward. That was tried during some pre-season games and it was shown to be less than successful.
The season before last and last season, Van Persie played some game as right midfield, however a winger he is not. That experiment was not successfull as we were lacking width. And the season before last, we had Pires bringing something on the left side, with now Hleb on the left, it will be a very narrow midfield. Very easy to defend against.
Fab,
Gilberto is not in Brazil anymore, he is not training at Arsenal.
After captaining Brazil to their victory in the Copa America, he was given three weeks off by Arsene Wenger.
Now back, he is doing the pre-season training on his own to avoid injuries, and mid-season dip in form.
He will miss most (nearly all) of the programme of August.
Regarding the comment by Dunga, it was a question like do you think that Gilberto Silva would be a success in Italy. His answer was then picked up by the Bristish Tabloid and sensationalize, knowing that the interview was given during the tournament when Juve did made a bid.

My team
Almunia
Sagna, Toure, Captain Marvel, Traore
Hleb, Cesc, Dennilson, Clichy
Robin & Bendtner
Subs – Dudu, Theo, Flamini, Hoyte & Senderos
Ok – no way you all shout – but if we need to change big time, Hoyte can come on as RB and push Sagna up into midfieled, Theo can come on at LM and psus Clichy back to LB
Or – Senderous can come on to free up the defence to allo us to push on – Dudu – well i think he needs the last 30 minutes, break him in gently -
heyho, im just a girl!!
Cheers Valentin I hope you’re right. The final was on 15th July, 3 weeks from that would be the 5th of August and then i read the other day he was not expected back in the line up until mid-september due to poor fitness, does he really need a month and a half to get fit? Hopefully you will be right and he will be back in late August.
Also regarding your point about Senderos being right footed, Tony Adams made a very good career at being a right footed LCB.
Playing the usual back line but with Senderos replacing Toure and Toure pushed into midfield seems like a good move to me. When Arsenal played Inter in the Emirates Cup they used that backline and Inter (admittedly under par) only managed one decent chance in the whole game if I remember correctly. Senderos was used as the left centre back and Gallas dealt with that fine. People have criticised Flamini’s ability to clean up the midfield defensively and nullify attacks before they begin, so perhaps chucking one of our hardest working players who’s a beast defensively and can surge forwards in front of the defense is actually a wise move. Toure only played in that role for 20 minutes or something against Inter and never really found his feet and I was on holiday during the preseason games before the Emirates CUp so maybe I missed something, but on paper this seems like an ideal way to add height to the back line and create a far more solid midfield. Not to mention being in midfield Toure would be more free to go on his storming runs more often which could be quite effective. I agree that Nichlas should start up front, I think having 2 up top is required when we’re creating so few chances at the moment.
I would not move Toure to cm, I would move Gallas to left back and bring Senderos in to deal with Santa Craz. This would alow us to move Clichy into left midfield and replace Rosicky. We would still have a solid back 4 and would be stronger at set pieces (both attacking and deffending), it would also let Wenger have the option of playing Hleb in his new position or playing 4 4 2 with Hleb on the right and Eduardo/Bendtner up front.
rico and magneto its not time we can risk by switching positions to players we did that in pre-season..my team for tomorrow is:
Lehmann
Sagna | Toure | Gallas | Clichy
Flamini
Walcott | Cesc | Denilson
Hleb
Van Persie
Subs: Almunia, Senderos, Bendtner, Hoyte, Eduardo.

omg how r we going to win againts blackburn tomorrow with all of this injurys..
thank u so much
not bas bad as man u
no roooney or ronaldo … say goodbye to the title
overly cautious.
Jens should be seated on the bench for our next game, Almunia has shown last season that he is up to the job and deserves a chance.
I know he has only made 2 big mistakes, but it is 2 in 2 for him and I would rather do something about it sooner rather than later.
This weekend we had a great chance to put a bit of distance between us and Man Utd (Iknow its early but these gaps make all the difference at the business end of the season) and because of Jens we missed that opportunity.
blackburn are a disgrace, and should be sanctioned for taking cheap shots whenever they can.
but that said, gallas’ injury highlights how thin this squad is. wenger needs to buy at least one more player.
PLEASE GET ALMUNIA OR FABIANSKI ON FUCK LEHMANN.
ARSENAL ARE LOOKING AT BESIKTAS AND TURKEY DEFENDER GOKHAN ZAN HE´S 25
