Wenger

I’m back, and as I guessed, there was really fuck all news about. Apart from that there was the announcement of Arsene Wenger’s new contract; He’s signed an extension of 3 years and is set to become Arsenal’s longest serving manager. I don’t need to tell you that this is good news. There’s an interview here.

The general feeling behind the new contract is that Arsene is in the middle of creating something special here at Arsenal and he can’t leave now. The development of these youngsters are very important for our future and we have a selection of players whose futures are very exiting.

It did get worrying whether Arsene would sign another deal but recently it’s become obvious that he would. It’s such a relief to have him finally extend his contract. I think that this may well be his last one, I imagine he will see that state of the club three years down the line and choose whether to stay a bit longer or move on. However if there was an extension I guess it would only be another year of two; he said on his 10 year anniversary that he wouldn’t be here for another 10 years, and I don’t blame him.

Other news…well in the internationals Eduardo played really well as he usually does in his national colours of Croatia; he scored both goals in the 2-0 win against Estonia and got the fifth in the 6-0 thrashing of Andorra. Van Persie played the full 90 minutes of both Holland’s games against Bulgaria and Albania but couldn’t manage a goal; hopefully all that football doesn’t leave him fatigued for the trip to Shite Hart Lane. The ‘injured’ Jens Lehmann has been playing for Germany, he picked up a clean sheet against Wales but that’s really not that amazing is it really? Sorry Welsh readers ;)

That’s really about all the news there has been in a week. Crazy. We play Spurs away on Saturday lunchtime so build-up to that to come. It’s an early kick off, but it’s not on TV (in England anyway), which is stupid. I found out this is because police ask for the 1.30pm KO to stop fans from getting hammered before the game causing trouble.

Anyways, talk to you tomorrow I guess. See ya.

Like a 1.30 Kick Off can stop people being drunk before the game…

Exactly my thinking, Cupid.

Van Perise only played 45 minutes yesterday against
Albania. He had some problems from the Albanians,
who looked like a poor man’s version of Blackburn,
i.e., a lot of kicking and falling down. VP got himself
a yellow for a completely incidental slap to the face
of an Albanian (he didn’t see him as he turned and his
arm swung around innocently). Of course, with the
idiotic Mike Riley as ref, the yellow was sure to come.
The good news is that it means Robin will miss the
next qualifier and prevent him from being injured
in the process. Good for Arsenal, bad for Holland.

By the way, for all us state-side gooners, the game
is being shown live on FSC. Beat those Scum!

The game will be broadcast in America by Fox Sports Channel (I hope). Is there anyway that signal could be watched in England ???

Lasagnechef, what will be the squad for this game ?

How tired will be Dudu, Gilberto, RVP, Rosicky, Diarra (did Hleb payed for his country ?)

Another question, has Diarra been able to tarin with Arsenal ?

Reagrding the back centres I don really know who is going to play alonside Toure but I am actually happy that Diaby can play with Cesc on the center of midfield.

Regards,

Rick

RvP didn’t have a full game against Albania, he was substituted in the second half so its good that he’s had some rest. I’m rather suprised that Brazil went ahead to play Gilberto for full 180 minutes in the two friendly games. With Gallas still unfit, don’t know what the make-up of the team will be against Spurs; its a match we have to win though if we want to put up a title challenge.

Howard, Dunga used these two games as preludes to the upcoming wc qualifying round, starting next month. Also, the game against Mexico was psychologically more than a friendly — Dunga and the entire team went out against Mexico in a far more serious, determined manner than against the US. That’s because of Mexico’s recent run of victories against us and esp. because of Mexico’s win against us at this summer’s Copa America in the first round.

I just can’t wait to see spurs get disappointed saturday :) mostly becuase in the last week ive read atleast 5 stories talking about how they wana upset us and how their players are ready. ahhh those stories give me a great laugh.. 2-0 TO THE ARSENAL

America Gooner: I guess you didnt see the game well, as being an Arsenal fan, you are saying that he didnt deserve a yellow card, i guess you are not being fair. RVP was getting upset because the Alb defender didnt give him an inch to move, and that was the second time he slaped the defender like that. Van Basten took him off due to poor performance because he was going to get a red card if he was going to play in the second half. About Mike Riley you are right but dont forget that he disallowed a clean owngoal to ALB that Melchiot scored on his own net. Just trying to be fair on your comments. Rather than that, I love the way Arsenal plays it makes you love football more. In my opinion one of the best teams in the world with Barca. Cheers to all of you and good luck on the next game.
p.s Cesc is amazing I give him preps.
