Quick Sevilla preview 19 September, 2007

Tonight is one of the biggest games of the season so far. We can afford to lose, but it would put us bottom of the group and place pressure on us for our next group games. A win tonight would be fantastic but I think we would settle for a draw. We’re on form at the moment though and I’m sure the side from Spain are well aware of this.
There’s lots of quotes coming out of the Sevilla camp this week. Renato is aware of our tendency to try and dribble the ball into the net and the difficulty we sometimes have to score. I said before that Luis Fabiano, Seville’s 2nd top scorer last season, has been included in the squad. Tottenham old boy, Kanote is bound to get his fair share of abuse tonight but he’s not worried about that, it’s our midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas he’s worried about. He says if they can stop Cesc and get off to a quick start then this game can be won.
This week Jens Lehmann publicly declared himself fit but according to Arsene he’s still out with an elbow injury. So, it’s Gallas, Eboue and Lehmann who will miss this one as we now have Senderos back from suspension. Arsene will field his strongest possible team tonight; he has a dilemma whether to player Gilberto in defence or bring in Senderos. I think Phil should come in and the Brazilian be push up to partner Fabregas in the middle.
Tonight should be a good game, both sides will be pushing for the win. Here’s hoping the side that does it is The Arsenal. Right I have to get to work now. Match Report tomorrow, until then.

gues um the first then!!!its gon be an end to end game today,i feel either way sevilla play we still have chances to score it will be more of a question whether we can defend becoz they good from both open play and have a number of guys who can head the ball so we have to raise our set piece defending a bit more.
i think you right phil will stepin to the back and its matter of whther Gilberto can go another game before needing that rest,if not which i doubt there could be a case for Diarra to make his debut because although the Flamster is got bite and all that today requires a defensive foil for the attack which i feel Diarra has in his locker but then again a debut at this importabt stage might just be a bit too early .
first gun
3rd!!
is diarra eligible tho ? i dont see him on the squad list for tonite …
This is what AW said about the team for this game:
Finally, some injury news ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League game against Sevilla. Philippe Senderos is available after suspension and Lassana Diarra is also available. William Gallas, Emmanuel Eboue and Jens Lehmann will not be back.
So I Guess Diarra is eligible.
Go Gunners.

Flamini needs to be offered a new deal now, in January he will be able to talk to other clubs and we can not let this happen. He has shown this season that he is more than just a sqaud player and if he continues his form, he will be pushing Gilberto (Brazilian captain) for his place.
I am over the moon to see Eduardo come off the bench and score another poachers goal.
Quick Sevilla Review - We won. 3 Nil. Played some cracking football. More and more of the young and or new players are standing up to be counted.
Almunia - Looked a bit dodgy at times due to lack of concentration. Dropped a few easy catches but got away with em. That cannot continue.
Sagna - As they say “the muts nuts”
Kolo - Solid throughout - still trying to perfect that attacking header with the back of his head as he does a 180 past a defender. Keep to the old way of doing it and hel get a few headed goals from set pieces.
Swis Phil - Sloppy at times with attempted clearances and lost his man too often.
Clichy - another of those dogs proverbials.
Hleb - ran his socks off tracking back and was always a threat goin forward. A great link up player.
Rosicky - similar impact to Hleb until injury struck - AGAIN
Cesc - Ran the show - AGAIN
Flamini - Playing really well this year - can he keep it up - will he extend his soon to be up contract - Romford Pele Mark II
Diaby - Wasted on the left. Showed some good touches but he lacks the trickery cuteness of a winger (cause he aint one) He is only a danger going forward when played centrally and his tackling is really only effective when he can break up play in the middle and either spread the play or drive to heart of defences.
Ade - what a workhorse, but with some clever touches and great holding and linkup play. Always a threat.
VanP - Took his goal well. Dragged defenders all over allowing midfielders lots of space to come forward.
Eduardo - poacher we have waited for since Wrighty ??
Diarra - not enuff time to really show much - will probobly play at weekend though.
Great performance yesterday: most of the team put in great performances with the exception of Senderos. I think we could have still won 3-0 if we’d replaced him with a scarecrow.
Also, (even though its early days) i got worried when Diarra got the ball late on in the centre of the park and immediately turned to face our own goal and play back towards our own goal. I was thinking “you’re going the wrong way mate!”
Excellent performance otherwise!
Great indeed. I just keep dreaming….
I want to see Dudu for a whole match on the EPL.
Who should replace Rosicky ?
Rick
RICK - I would love to see Walcott given a run out against one of the poorer teams in the league.
Yeap, I agree Walcott should be option #1.
How about this squad:
Almunia
Sagna, Toure, Senderos, Clichy
Hleb, Cesc, Denilson, Walcott
Bendtner, Dudu
Just to rest Gilberto, Flamini, RVP and Adebayor
