Newcastle Preview: No Hleb, Flamini or Cesc…ouch 4 December, 2007

The injury problems are the same as Villa. However two start performers from that game, Hleb and Flamini are out. This really does present quite a big problem. I was worried going into that game wondering if there’d be enough creativity in the side, however Flamini and Hleb were brilliant and pretty much ran the game.

We wont have that luxury tomorrow night now and you have to wonder how we can fill their void, not to mention that we’re missing RVP and Cesc too. Gunnerblog reckons that Eduardo and Rosicky can add some inspiration to the team. I think Theo Walcott could also do a job but you never know what you’re going to get with him; it could be a Sparta Prague-type show or another one of his nothing-performances. The talents thee, its just whether he can apply it to the game.

Adebayor will have a big job to do. He might be partnered with Eduardo, Bendtner or Theo, or be on his own again like he has recently. I’d kind of like to see Bendtner start this one, we could use him in a game like this but I don’t think he’ll be in the line up. I want us to go 4-4-2 but I’m guessing at another 4-5-1/4-3-3:

Almunia
Sagna - Toure - Gallas (c) - Clichy
Eboue - Diarra - Gilberto - Denilson - Rosicky
Adebayor

Denilson would add some attacking quality in contrast to the more defensively minded Diarra and Gilberto and Rosicky and Eboue can get down the sides and cut in to provide Adebayor with opportunities. There are other options; as I said we could add a second striker, or Walcott can come in for Eboue.

I am worried, but I don’t know why. That’s still a good side and Newcastle haven’t been great recently. A loss would be unacceptable, a draw would be a bit disappointing and a win would be great to keep Man United and Chelsea at distance.

I’m quite looking forward to this one; I’ll get a match report up probably Thursday evening. Thanks for reading.

:) Why are you worried mate? Newcastle is in the worst time ever in entire history, we the fans have no support to the team and manager :D that’s what the papers said.

I guess, may the best (and lucky) team win tomorrow.

Howay the lads!

I think there is reason to worry. Every team has a lot of pride, especially at home, Newcastle included. Their backs are really to the wall right now and it is all the more reason for them to play with nothing to lose. Plus, our injury list looks like half the PFA team of the year: Cesc, Flamini, Hleb, Van Persie. Plus Diaby on top of that. Without Cesc and Hleb, we didn’t looks so good at Seville. Without Flamini, we lack a lot of bite. Plus, Newcastle will want to avenge that humiliating Carling Cup defeat against our youngsters. Our record there our last few trips is D-L-L-D. I think there is ample reason to worry.

I am thinking:

——–ALMUNIA————-

SAGNA–TOURE–GALLAS—CLICHY

EBOUE–GILBERTO–DENILSON–ROSICKY

BENDTNER——–ADEBAYOR

I think Wenger would try to make up for creativity with power, hence Bendtner.

I like Ole’s line up. That it as a tough a line up as you will see for the Gunners. The Geordies have a couple of players back from injury who could make an impact…this soon after their return remains to be seen. Barton can be dangerous and Big Sam has had a good track record against the Gunners having taken advantage of a “soft middle” the last couple of years. A powerful line up will give newcastle less of a chance to knock our boys around whohave toughened up this year anyway.

It will be tough and may require another late goal to make the difference, but we cant slip up now…not after Fergie’s comments. I hope wenger has the players extra fired up just to shut Fergie up.

Dude, I’m scared, more scared than I was for the Villa game.

But, at least we have our 4 back bad asses!!!

If we go with a 4-5-1, we are fucked!!!

And, Theo did not do so well last game, as much as I hate to say it.

Almunia

Sagna - Toure - Gallas - Clichy

Eboue - Diarra - Denilson - Rosicky

Adebayor - Eduardo

If Bendtner doesn’t play, he cannot score, and there goes our chance of scoring up there. I don’t believe Ade or Eduardo will be able to plow their trade up there–mostly because we have no creativity (the injuries are mounting!) in the midfield except for Denilson and Rosicky (Theo sometimes) playing.

If Bendtner and Diarra do play much of the game, at least they can’t come back to Wenger and whine that they don’t get enough playing time (LOL).

0-1 Arsenal

8. lasagnechef - 5 December, 2007

I want Diarra to start. Despite what some people said he was brilliant against Villa. Not so much so in the 2nd half but he was still very good.

9. Ryan - 5 December, 2007

He was sooooooooo good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Diarra!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he will start, and he was somewhat good in the 2nd as compared to the rest of the team.

10. DeiseGooner - 5 December, 2007

Dont think there much of a choice with starting with Diarra. Ill go with

Almunia
Sagna Kolo Gallas Clichy
Eboue Denilson Gilberto Diarra Rosicky
Ade

11. Denis González - 5 December, 2007

I think Arsenal have many choices to cover those injured players. That’s the new Wegner’s style, to don’t depend on a single player, like the Henry’s times.

12. Cupid - 5 December, 2007

I like that theory. He doesn’t like to only have to rely on one player for a position. But whats this with Chelsea wanting Bendtner? FUCK OFF!

13. Casicky - 5 December, 2007

if Denii plays then he has to show that flair we all know he has and so should Rosicky,if those two perform at their peak or near there um sure we are gauranteed to leave with all three points.my formation would be somthing like this

_____________Almunia
Sagna__Toure__Gallas__Clichy
_______Berto____Diarra
Eboue____Denii_____Rosicky
_______Adebayor

if Denii can play a good defensive wing role then i would prefer him on the wing with Rosicky centrally behind Ade,if not then 4-4-2 would be a better formation so that from the off we will be on top of the like the Gunns we are..

We Gunner Gunn Em…

14. Alex - 6 December, 2007

Sell Gilberto, he´s doing nothing. Sell Senderos, we lost to Seville because of him.
Get this Ibrahim Affelay or Van der Vaart and a good central defender like Garay from Racing Santander.
We´re still top of the league 4 points clear and we play Boro on Sunday.

15. Newcastle 1-1 Arsenal - 05/12/07 - (Barclays Premiership) « The Cannon - 6 December, 2007

[...] to our downfall. If we wanted to go with a five-man midfield then I would’ve much preferred the team I selected; Eduardo was completely out of the game once he got move out [...]
