It’s the news we all wanted to hear. Wenger has revealed we could be getting some of our best players back for that extremely important game against Chelsea. Arsene says that Matty Flamini has the biggest chance of returning with Robin van Persie and Abou Diaby also close to fitness:

“The one who has a realistic chance is Flamini. One who could be in the squad is Van Persie. Diaby could be in the squad too. We don’t know about Cesc and Hleb.”

From the sounds of that we could have Flamini starting with Van Persie and Diaby on the bench but Hleb and Fabregas will miss out. I’m sure we’ll get more details on the fitness of these guys nearer Sunday’s game. It’s great news though, the thought of playing Chelsea with anything like the side that lost to ‘Boro is quite scary even though Wenger says yesterday’s loss was not down to the players we had missing. Hmm, I’m not so sure. Yes, it wasn’t a great performance but we would’ve won comfortably if it weren’t for injuries.

I’m really looking forward to the Chelsea game, so is Gael Clichy. However, we’ve got Champions League action before that on Wednesday night. It’ll probably be a slightly weaker side with qualification already secured. It’s only the matter of coming 1st or second now but Wenger says he doesn’t really mind.

One play who I’m expecting to start is Lassie Diarra and Captain Gallas has been talking about his ex-Chelsea team mate. I’m a big fan of Diarra and I like to see him get games. He’s got a big opportunity at the moment with Cesc and Flamini out and this could be his last week to prove himself. I’m looking forward to a big game from him Wednesday night.

I’ll write up a preview for the Steaua Bucharest game tomorrow. Until then.

It is not often that wenger would get our hopes up for something that may not happen. This was shown when hleb and Clichy were brought back at the villa. They should all play in my opinion. Diaby in the middle with one of the other three.

He surely deserves it after Gilberto and Diarra being crap.

Van Persie will be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the formation should be:

Almunia
Sagna-Toure-Gallas-Clichy
Walcott-Flamini-Diaby-Rosicky
RVP-Adebayor

(subs: Diarra, Fabianski, Senderos, Eboue, Bendtner

It’s great you all want Diarra to do so well…I prefer midfielders who can pass, he’s a right back to me. Even Sagna has better ball distribution than Diarra (as tenacious a tackler he is it’s all to no avail when you dont know what to do with the ball once you’ve won it, in Diarra’s case he likes to give it back to the opposition so he can win it back again or he’ll float a chipped pass so the opposition have time to tackle the receiver then he can go win it back again). Against a team like Chelsea I’d prefer to see a more established midfield minus Diarra!

no way will rvp start the game. not after such a long lay-off. at best he’ll come on for the last 10 minutes.

it’s strange that we’re all pinning such hopes on flamini after everyone bollocked him for the last few seasons.

I wouldnt pin too much on Flamini. Yes hes been super this season. And yes he will improve the midfield by making it a quicker and more energetic unit. But the real losses here are Hleb and Cesc. Hleb for his trickery and passing and Cesc for his passing and goal threat. We have done great without VanP because these 2 have been ultra creative and have been scoring also. But with all 3 missing we cant create enough and we dont have that killer touch in front of goal. Although Ade has scored plenty so far hes really had no partner up front for the last few months and thats been sapping his energy no end. So yeah welcome back Flamster but please hurry back VanP , Cesc and Hleb.

i cant believe most of the readers have actually fallen for this???Van P will be on the bench but he is nowherenear fit at all..he will be on the bench jus to try and give us a psychological edge which i dont think will work and then Le Boss might actually take a risk and play him which we will regret even more…rememberTH14 against PSV running around holding his groin coz he had been rushed too soon???…thats the way it will happen if Van P gets on that pitch.

the current squad has to adapt if we are to have any chance of gettin anything against e Chavs..Flamster will provide that bite alongside Diarra i feel giving Berto a game against those guys is jus shooting ourselves in the foot..

as you can tell i aint looking forward to the grand slam no-more,what is there to look forward to we have seen our team gradually decline over the past three games and there wont be any change of personnel,so jus waking sunday and hoping Eboue is going to be class, and Berto is going to gain extra speed and Rosicky will finally produce wat we hope he can is jus plain fantasy…

expect the worst!!!!!

I didn’t see Diarra against Middlesborough, but i did against Newcastle, and he was crap! Everytime he got the ball he just paused trying to make up his mind about what to do next. 2 seconds before he finished thinking, he’d lost the ball!

What a disappointment! When we got him from Chelsea i thought we’d got a good player, but he’s done bugger all so far.
