Blackburn vs. Arsenal Reserves Preview 18 December, 2007
Posted by lasagnechef in Cup Games.trackback

It’s an extremely young and inexperienced squad that travelled up to Blackburn today for tonight’s Carling Cup clash. Only Nicklas Bendtner and Phil Senderos we in the squad of two days ago. With players still recovering from the Chelsea game and with Spurs on Saturday it was always going to be a young team.
I’m not expecting us to win this one, I have to say. You have to think that Blackburn will be far too strong for such a young side. However, you can’t be so sure. They’ll play with so much determination and they will be fearless. They’ve got nothing to lose and they probably realise they will be big underdogs, but I bet they’ll be proud to represent the first team and they’ll do their very best.
The bigger names in the squad include Diaby, Senderos, Diarra, Eduardo, Denilson and Bendtner. Theo Walcott was due to start but he was unwell today and was excluded. Here’s my guess at the team then:
Hoyte - Senderos - Song - Traore
Randall(?) - Diarra - Denilson - Diaby
Bendtner - Eduardo
Bench: Vito Mannone, Gavin Hoyte, Kieran Gibbs, Fran Merida & Nacer Barazite.
When I actually pick a team, I think that group of 11 players could beat Blackburn and it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise ever. It’s a very young bench though, but I bet they’ll be dying to get on the pitch. I’ve gone for Randall at right midfield; don’t ask me why, I don’t know either.
Man of the Match Gael Clichy gets rested for Armand Traore. Arsene’s been talking about him saying how much he’s matured and he’d have no hesitation starting him in the Premier League if something happened to Clichy. I like Traore too; I hope he does well tonight.
I’m sure Blackburn will go with a full strength squad and they’ll fancy themselves for this. I’m not too bothered if they win, I’ll get over it. However if we win it’d be amazing. Not just because I want us to do well in this competition, but I’d love to see the look on Robbie Savage’s face when he’s beaten by a load of kids.
I’m quite looking forward to this now. Good luck to the kids. Thanks for reading.

Bang Bang
I think Barazite would be a better on the right
A win would be fantastic as it would the reserve team yet another opportunuity to play again! Other than that, not really bothered about the outcome.
Maybe Diarra on the right, Diaby in the middle, and Gibbs up the left? He is more of an orthodox wide man than Randall. Either way, another Englishman in the starting line up, and two more on the bench. Good to see.
I’d prefer to see Gibbs play but Randall would be good as well. Barazite has looked very good for the youth team.
Blackburn have hit some bad form and conceded 5 to Wigan. They will be well fired up for this and I expect a really tough match physically and I doubt it will be pretty. But if we can stand up to the fight I think we have a chance to win.
a lot of their players would have played on saturday so their energy levels might be low by the end of the match. if we can hang in there I think we can pick them off at the end.
Mr Piggot,
I’d like to invite you to a party I’m having in my pants, bring a bottle and stick it up my ass if you like
I don’t think this particular squad would be able to contest with Blackburn team. This is a very good squad, but at least they need some experience players in the defends and the mid-field. I am not sure if this team would able to have something today at Blackburn. If they do, I’ll be happy about it. But I’m confused about it.
When he says Armand Traore has matured I think he’s just referring to the fact that he doesn’t carry knuckledusters to games anymore.
Hey Bloggie waiting for the usual whooping on Saturday or do you think that one-day might have helped your girls?
If the squad is the same as what you put out Chef I would rather see this in action.

Gunner8,
Dude you know whats going to happen. Keane will score first, then Adebeyor will equalise and then our whole team and the fans, including the ones at home or in the pub will shit our pants and we’ll be hanging on for dear life untill some lemon like Flamini will score a thirty yarder in the last five minutes.
Its the tottenham way
Amazing, you predicted both the starting squad AND the confused look on Robbie Savages face after losing to our kids!
This week, my beloved Arsenal have let me use the word ‘brilliant’ twice! Once after beating Chelsea, and now after beating Blackburn.
Now onto the scum from down the road.
Keane is not playing Bloggie poop da pants now… …come back to Gunnerblog we miss you (never thought I would say that)… …oh and you as well Clock Ender like your vids on you tube too

DIABY was awesome and he played in the middle for most of the match anyway
