Diarra must be leaving / FA Cup Draw 7 January, 2008
Posted by lasagnechef in Cup Games, Transfers.trackback

Lassana Diarra was pretty much certain to start in yesterday’s FA Cup tie at Burnley. Wenger even said before the game he would be involved. But when the team sheet was announced about an hour before kick off I was searching for Diarra’s name; he wasn’t even on the bench. Immediately I thought he must be leaving then.
Diarra must either, 1. Be sorting out a move as we speak, or 2. He had an argument with Wenger and was dropped because of it; I can imagine him getting cocky about expecting to play and Arsene is not one to tolerate nuisance players. Or of course it could be a mixture of both 1 and 2. If Lassana is sorting out a move then him playing for us yesterday would’ve made him cup tied for his next team.
I’ve said before that I want Lassana to stay, especially with Mathieu Flamini still not signing a new contract. If (God forbid) Matty was to go then Diarra could be first choice along side Cesc, then he’d be happy, right? He’s a good player, Wenger knows it. But I’m sure both me and Arsene would agree that if he’s gonna be an idiot he can fuck off, we’ll cope without him fine. In fact, we’d make a nice tidy profit out of him.
Jens Lehmann is in a similar boat as Diarra…sailing out of Arsenal, into fresh waters…however the German’s his attitude has improved recently hence his start yesterday, unlike Lassie. Wenger says he wants Lehmann to stay (so do I) but Jens will decide his future this week.
Finally the FA Cup draw was earlier today and we got drawn with Stoke (or Newcastle). Their 3rd round tie ended 0-0 and there will be a match at St. James’ Park to decide who gets to play us at the end of this month. You can see the rest of the draw here but Chelsea go to Wigan and Man United host Reading (or Tottenham). Thanks for reading people, Spurs preview tomorrow.

i assumed he wasnt played because of the carling cup semi final, give bert the easier of the 2 games, both needed to get a full game
I agree about Diarra f@#k him if he thinks he has some divine right towalk straight in to the team. The unsurtenty about Flamini is very worrying and I hope he puts pen to paper in the next few days. As for the cc game against spuds 3-1 to the gunners.
Why did wenger say there will be no one leaving apart from lehmann after the game?
He could be ill. There is a lot of flu going abt.
Don’t speculate on the worse just to anger gooners to get more hits.
this is the last time i read your blog.
Yeah he might have novovirus!!!
Walcott was not in the squad too, so it does not mean he is leaving as well !!
If Diarra does leave, so what, I am sure that would allow one of the youngsters to shine.
Also why does Denilson get so much praise. I think he is average and I am sure both Randall and Lainsbury could do a job given the chance.
“Lasagna” Diarra is going nowhere…according to me. I will be very surprised if he doesnt start for the game against the spuds. My view on this story is that Mr Wenger wanted to use young players for the carling cup game than playing Gilberto (although i acknowledge that he has already played in this competition this season). However even if both Lasagna and Flamster were to leave, I believe it is easier to find a defensive midfilder than an attacking one, which is why my only fear is of the inevitable exit of the mighty Cesc Fabregas. I can only hope that he stays for another two season until we mould a replacement.
I dont think wenger has been ruthless enough over this situation. he is trying to keep several defensive midfielders happy, but there are only so many games. I think wenger had to decide which 2 he wants and the others basically dont play/leave/get sold whatever. for me flam and Diarra should have been sharing the spot from the start of the season. Its been clear for a while that Bert is losing his abilities. Whether Bert stays or goes in Jan, he should not play in the middle for us again unless an emergency. Diarra needs games and he is absolute class. I dont like the way he is tried to upset the applecart but he is a very good player. I would not say Diarra is as good as gone but if he does not play against Spuds I might change that opinion.
i don’t believe for a minute that he’s going anywhere. wenger rates him too much to let him. he’s a litle cock-sure of himself and also a little outspoken which i’m sure wenger won’t abide, but therer’s no f*cking way we’re gonna sell him after only 4 and a half months.
personally, i don’t think flamini can maintain this kind of form, and diarra’s passing is much better anyway. wenger will mentor the petulence out of him and turn him into Gilberto’s long term replacement,; mark my words!
Diarra didn’t play because he will be taking part in the Semi against the Spuds.
This article is nothing more than rumour spreading because you have nothing else to say but feel you have to write something….can’t let your readers down now can you.
Simply say nothing. It’s easier and it stops the internet being filled with pointless and mis-informed stories by people who know nothing.
All will become clear on Wednesday, I guess! (Or it may become clear!)
If Diarra turns out to play against the Spuds, then all this is a load of bollox.
If he doesn’t? Well he might be ill or he might be on his bike, heading to a new club. If he is ill, I would expect some mention of it in the build up to the Spuds game, however.
he could just be rested for the scum game
Mark, you wont have any blogs left to read if you boycott anyone specualting on the reason for Diarra’s absence today!
Bert was dismal yesterday and step one should be to make it clear to Flamini, Diarra, Diaby and Denilson that they are ahead of him. Step two get Flamini to sign. Step three try to persuade Diarra and Diaby that there is room for all of them (Denilson seem sto have a better attitude….). Diarra will play on Wednesday anyway, even if he leaves later in the month (and he wont be allowed to until flamini signs)
What are you on about? I’m not making this up to get more hits or what ever you’re saying. I write about what’s on my mind and what’s in the news.
I hope Diarra’s staying but I find it very unlikely that he was simply rested for Spurs when he’s desperate for games. It’s not as if we were going suffer if Diarra got injured yesterday.
And mark, I’ve heard you’ve stopped reading blogs that are giving their opinion on this story. I’m fucking sorry mate but this is the most interesting thing going on right now. If you don’t want to read my site, fair enough, doesn’t bother me if you don’t like what I write, but your reaction is a bit immature. Look at the big picture.
Actually, why should I have to explain myself?
Meh…
Chef, I totally, utterly fucking agree. It’s your fucking blog and you can write what the fuck you want. If you want to write about fucking fairies flying around the back of your garden, it’s your fucking right as the Almighty Fucking Blog Master. Note that last word – Master. You’re not answerable to any old fucker who comes along wanting to chim ein with his/her inconsidered, fuckign pathetic two cents. Fuck’s sake. There’s a little thing that those fuckers need grasp, and that’s editorial privilege. Fuck Mark. Fuck him until he’s red and sore.
Hasn’t Diarra been registered with two clubs (Chelsea and Arsenal) this year? And wouldn’t that mean he’s unable to play for another club until at least the end of the season? Just a thought. Because I’m willing to pursue every avenue to make sure that fucker stays put.
Those of you that believe we should reserve judgement until the cc team news arrives are spot on in my oppinion.
connollys agent – i think im right in saying that diarra only played for Chelsea in the community shield (or whatever its called). according to the fa this match counts as a friendly so unfortunatly he could move.
are you all assuming lasagna has it in his hands? what if the gaffer simply told him NO? could not do anything but sulk. and boy are we afraid of that, not!!!!
Philbut Frog, you are right about Diarra’s availability to go to another Premiership team (playing for Chelsea in the Community Shield does not count), but like everyone else I want him to stay. He is a better all round player than Flamini, though Flamini’s workrate and intensity is second to none.
Hopefully Wenger can do what he did with Flamini in the off-season and reassure him of his potential within the team.
