Van Persie out for another few weeks, again 17 January, 2008

RVP

I don’t know about you but Robin van Persie’s injury situation is really, really starting to piss me off. He’s so fragile, picks up a bad injury then all we fucking hear is ‘two more weeks’, then ‘two more weeks’ then again ‘two more weeks’. It’s getting to the point where I can’t even think of him as a member of our squad this season. I remember he had a good few games at the start of this season and scored a few but he’s played like one game since then.

He recovered from his extended break to play the first half against Spurs in the Carling Cup semi and got injured in that. Then he got a bad case of the flu, and now we’re being told he’s out again:

“Compared to last week we have Robin van Persie who is out for a few weeks. I believe Tomas Rosicky will be OK to come back. But Johan Djourou is out as well. He has had an inflammation of his groin and in the next two weeks he will not be capable to play.”

Ridiculous. I’m not calling for him to be rushed back from injury like that, it’s just incredibly, incredibly frustrating as a fan. Without Cesc we have Adebayor, Eduardo and Bendtner who don’t exactly fill me 100% confidence, with van Persie on the pitch I feel like we can win games in any moment. There’s nothing we can do about it, some say we should sell him. Who’d buy him though? I wouldn’t go as far to say he should go but it upsets me that I’ve contemplated it.

In other news Diarra’s move has been officially announced and he says he’ll get games there. Will he now? That’s marvelous. He’s also proved how much of a twat he is again by saying that he wouldn’t be a Portsmouth forever or something; it might be true but that’s not what you say on your first day after signing for a club! Stupid dolphin looking knob.

Wenger also talks about how Fran Merida’s loan move will be great for his development. However the 17-year-old has already seen his manager at Real Sociedad, Chris Coleman leave after only a few months. Oh dear. I hope Fran gets some games out there.

That’s about it for today. We’ve got Fulham on Saturday so I’ll write up a preview tomorrow.

Before I go, I’d just quickly like to ask a cheeky favour. My Dad entered a photo for that O2 Arsenal Opus competition that’s been advertised and he made it down to the final 11 photos. It goes down to the public vote and I’d appreciate it so much if you’d take two seconds to go and vote for his photo. Just click this link and my Dad’s photo is the ‘Flying High’ one:

If you get round to doing that, thanks a lot. I’ll let you know how he gets on.Thanks for reading.

3. London - 17 January, 2008

Van Persie has got one of those long Gallas type injuries, the ones where they come back just in time for the champions league.

4. lasagnechef - 17 January, 2008

Cheers for letting me know viper, changed it now

5. Lad - 17 January, 2008

Rvp you C*nt!

Sort yourself out ffs!

6. Anon - 17 January, 2008

This news just about tops off what has been a thoroughly miserable week so far, I just hope The Arsenal get back to winning ways.

7. fourstar - 17 January, 2008

Voted for that great picture; good luck…

8. gazzap - 17 January, 2008

well the responsibiloty now falls to EDS. he simply has to rise to the occasion. I think he is capable and I do have faith in him. RvP needs a full recovery. every time we rush him back its another 2 weeks. wenger knows that and I am sure he has said 3 weeks as a maximum. whats strange is that they are different injuries. normally when that happens it has something to do with a chronic problem such as a back problem that causes other parts of the body to have recurring but often different problems. I hope he is seeing the right specialists to sort it out.

So now you fuckers realise the fucking futility of relying on a fucking injury-prone fucker. As Gazzap says, the responsibility of goal-scoring is now on a Croatian fucker who’s still too fragile for Premier League and who hasn’t fully adapted yet. This fucking season’s going down the fucking gurgler. Sheer-fucking-frustration-at-the-chance-of-a-title-slipping-through-your-fingers-because-of-lack-of-squad-depth, thy name is RvP.

Bloghead, I’d suck your “tubby balls”, but I don’t know where they’ve been. You’re such a fucking slut that you offer them to anyone.

you said it, chef. has there ever been another player of his quality who the general public have barely seen?

12. Flamini Blamdini - 18 January, 2008

Chef, if your dad wins that competiton please ask him to pass this message onto Arsene,
FFS, PLAY THE FIRST TEAM AGAINST THE SCUM. If we win the Carling cup this season it will be a MAJOR achievement. All Arsenal fans will worship the ground you walk on even more than they do already, believe me.
All this second team shit has to stop now. You rested the first team and they were poor v Brum.
I don’t know if the problem is RVP being a sicknote, Diarra’s coming and going, Lehmann’s ‘I must play because I’m better than Almunia so I’m off then, oh no I’m not cos I can’t get the same money elsewhere’ (what a cunt! I hope he keeps his mouth shut from now on, at least Diarra actually left), Flamini’s contract or what, but the momentum of the first half of the season has gone and it won’t be back unless you do something radical.
The Mersonperson was bang on. If you push your luck and play the kids again at WHL, we’ll lose, it’s as simple as that. We need to get the momentum back and that means picking the strongest possible team against Fulham AND Tottenham. Give some squad members a run out against Newcastle in the cup and then back to the strongest team for the league game.
Go on Arsene, if you stick to your guns too much you’ll end up shooting yourself in the foot.

no way. the CC is for kids. the competition was useless before that. the only reason to watch now is to see what arsene has in the pipeline. I agree that he should play one or 2 first teamers, but to risk any more than that for a useless cup? no way. live and die by your principles.

sanfran

The momentum thing seems to be more imortant to us than other clubs. Manure and the blue nasties started slowly this season and have both built up a head of steam. We flew out of the gates but the level of play of almost all of our players at the moment, except Gallas, Sagna, Clichy, Almunia and Eduardo is below par.
Words like springboard and reignite spring to mind.
Last year we died a death after the CC final whereas the Invincibles with Henry in his prime were able to bounce back after being 2-1 down at half time to Liverpool having gone out of the CL & FA cup.
The 2004 team were proven winners. The 2008 vintage have still got everything to prove. Most of them are kids.
Don’t know about you but my feeling is we need to go for all 4 trophies from now to the end of the season or we’ll end up empty handed again.

15. Flamini Blamdini - 18 January, 2008

And don’t forget who we’re playing.

16. Blog Head - 18 January, 2008

Van Persie is being punished for not having any respect for women.

Its all about the Karma

17. Alex - 18 January, 2008

We have to get someone !
Dimitrov is on his way before the transfer window closes, and if not he will join in the summer.
Mputu has been invited along with his team to play against Arsenal in a closed-doors friendly !

18. Mickey C - 19 January, 2008

Alex - Why the fuck would we buy another striker? Adebayor, Eduardo, Bendtner and Walcott are more than enough to have until Van Persie is fit again. Not forgetting that in the summer we welcome Vela. 6 strikers without buying anyone, now add Simpson who should return from loan ready to fight for a Carling Cup squad place and the young lad from Gillingham who we are meant to be signing next week and we are now actually looking like we are more top heavy than Dolly Parton.

I can see Dimitrov coming in the summer but that is it
