the real reason we spurs celebrated so much is because we trounced a very strong (though admittedly not full strength) arsenal side, to progress to a cup final (yes, the first that our current squad has seen). also, we did it with half an hour to spare. our support was immense, reflecting how much it matters to our fans that we win trophies and beat our arch rivals.

noone is suggesting we will finish above you in the league this season, or that we'll win the champions league, because, er, we're not in it, having bottled it and handed the place to you last season. our league campaign is over, and we're under no illusions about that.

the point is, it was a north london derby, in a cup semi final. you cant honestly say it doesn't hurt to see your side (however weakened) lose to us by four goals? and we enjoyed that. we relished it.

as its our squad's first final, the fans and the players were overjoyed, but noone is pretending the result is a cup. to be honest, win or lose in the final, this result, however much you'd like to belittle it, matters more. i was there when we beat leicester to win the carling cup under your old legend mr boring, and i was there when we lost it to blackburn. and neither time was even nearly as emotional as beating you the other week.

here's why - leicester and blackburn are/were shit. you, on the other hand, claim to be a team of world-beaters. your players come with enormous price tags, and you gooners expect to see them play beautiful, attacking football... but they didn't, did they? you lost embarrassingly to a team that was an average 3 years older than yours (25.8 to 22.8) - so much for the "youth team" argument then. your starting eleven cost £12million more (full squad, £9million more) than ours. you had one more international player on the pitch than we did. our players had started, on average, only 6 more matches this season than yours.

so really, while there's no denying that you fielded a weakened team, you can't suggest that our players were simply much more experienced than yours. if you think that your players didn't care about the cup, then why did Adebayor nut Bendtner? tempers don't tend to flare like that in meaningless games.

at tottenham, we don't have "small scale ambition(s?) to win the beer cup" but rather, large scale ambitions to try to win every competition we're in. we've no chance in the league, we ballsed that up in the first six weeks. we're out of the FA cup now too.

but what trophies does YOUR new 'young' side have to show for its £62million cost?

please don't make fools of yourselves by pretending this wasn't a big match. noone's won anything yet, but you have to be in it to win it... you lot seem to think its enough to earn enough money from TV rights to play your 'young superstars', not to win anything.

oh, and about the DVD - come on, if the result had been reversed, wouldn't you want to watch it again and again? that's part of the point of rivalries.

DozyGrunt, you are casting around for chinks of a silver lining to an abject humiliation by your north london rivals in a tie your players boasted was in the bag. If our celebrations eases your pain, I can only wish it worked for your boys who took to fighting amongst themselves and the away fans who were back on the train to Croydon by 90minutes. But they couldn't turn over to Dancing on Ice like you did could they?

Your research at the Spurs website is comprehensive (do you visit often? Bi or just curious?) but I think the DVD is yet to be produced rather than sold out. I agree the club wouldn't miss a chance to extract another tenner although not as effectively as your chairman was boasting recently.

Chin Up! Keegan Soccer Circus next. No fighting at the front!

"our biggest rivals"

rivals for what Rory - the league ? The champions league ?
You stopped being our rivals for trophies a long time ago.
Fair enough you got caught upin the game. But its 3 days later and you are still going on about it. this is after you have bought the t-shirt and the mug. I see the dvd is already sold out. Sad
