Especially ones that precede an international break. Some of our players will have joined up with their nations today and yesterday so there isn’t really anything interesting going on.
Wenger’s been talking about Adebayor and the great form he is in. It’s amazing the progress he’s made this season but Arsene doesn’t really know how:
“I don’t know what it is down to, but perhaps we have a little bit of special spirit in the club. Certainly he has found somewhere where he can express his talent and he realises it is a magnificent chance. But it is down to his talent and dedications as well. [Before he signed for us] there was a question mark about Adebayor – his attitude and his spirit. Did we change him or did he realise he had wasted enough time already? I don’t know.”
It could have a lot to do with the spirit in the squad, he always looks really happy on the pitch and just generally seems like he’s enjoying himself. Gunnerblog has a good piece on him today and looks at any comparisons to some of our previous strikers.
Arsene’s also been talking about the title race saying that it might take a record amount of points to win the league this season. It definitely going to be an exiting run in, don’t know about you but I feel so good to be back in a title race again, it’s been too long.
Kolo Toure didn’t play in the Ivory Coast’s African Nations Cup quarter final but I believe he’s set to start the semi. Kolo’s been talking about returning to Arsenal and he’s worried that his trip to Ghana will effect him. He’s worried about all the games he’s played and he also said he thinks he’ll have to fight for his place in the side when he gets back. I don’t think either of those are a problem, Arsenal are playing games too over here and everyone will be more comfortable with Kolo at the back than Senderos so I don’t think Toure has a lot to worry about…
And finally, I’ve heard that AC Milan wonder kid Alexandre Pato and Gattuso are both injured and are likely to miss the Champions League games. Good news for us. Carlo Ancelotti has said Pato’s injury “is pretty serious” and there’s also doubts on Kaka’s fitness…ooh goody.
Right I’m off to carry on with more work, argh…roll on Tuesday.
