A Beautiful Day to be an Arsenal Fan 13 February, 2008

If like me you’re enjoying the great British weather we’re getting at the moment you’ll have an especially big smile across y our face today. Top of the league and loving it. I don’t know what it is, it’s such a nice feeling when the team you support are top of the league. Such a simple thing like that makes me smile.
However, at the same time, the nerves are going to start to kick in soon and that’s the worst part. The pure desperation and hope of going all the way this year is going to drive me insane. Sleepless nights and all that, just for the simple matter of us being in 1st place.
I’m off to the park to play a game of footy with my mates in a bit so I’m going to keep this post quite brief; there’s not much to cover anyway to be honest.
There are a couple of stories about Emmanuel Adebayor. The first is a rather nice one about how Ade gets texts from Thierry In Barcelona wishing him good luck. He says Henry really believes in him and follows how he’s doing in the league. I don’t know any Gooner that holds anything against Thierry, and if I ever met one I’d ask them why. He was a fantastic servant to the club and it’s nice to hear that he still keeps in touch with the players.
Adebayor’s also been talking about his Golden Boot rival Cristiano Ronaldo. He says he’s got a lot of respect for him and thinks he’s an amazing player, however the Golden Boot means nothing to him in comparison with winning the league. Ade says he’s always dreamed of being the top scorer but it’ll mean nothing if Arsenal don’t come away with the trophies. He’s right, but his goals are helping us on our way, so keep knocking them in mate!
Lastly, a bit of good news on the injury front. Rosicky, Toure and Eboue could all be back for the weekend which is great news. However I don’t think we’ll be fielding a full strength side. I imagine we’ll be seeing Lehmann, Hoyte, Eboue and Bendtner + others but we’ll think about that game later in the week.
Right I’m off now, have a nice Wednesday. Thanks for reading.

is it new blog??
not sure about Hoyte but bendtner and Eboue and Lehmann I am sure will all start at OT. it will be still a strong team capable of winning but you get the feeling its not going to be our absolute strongest team. I reckon Ros will get 60 minutes in prep for Milan.
If we beat united and chelsea in the league or at least draw with them then we should be ok.
Dont care about the fa cup this season i would mutch rarther win the premiership again.
He hasn’t got that many to choose from at OT. The 11 who played Blackburn plus Bendtner, Hoyte, Rosicky, Toure and Eboue. How about
Lehmann
Sagna Gallas Senderos Clichy
Eboue Gilberto Flam Hleb
Bendtner Eduardo
Subs: Fabianski, Hoyte, Toure, Rosicky, Ade
It would be a major test for Bendtner. Holding up the ball with Vidic on his back and Ade looking on. For us to prosper Bendtner would need to have a big game.
He’s got to play the first choice full backs.
Fair play to Big Phil. Glad he didn’t go in January. Gilberto should be match fit now after 2 games in a week. Utd, and Rooney in particular, will presumably come flying out of the blocks. It will also be interesting to see how much Eduardo’s game outside the box has developed if Ade is on the bench.
Give Fab a breather, then v Milan
Almunia
Sagna Gallas Toure Clichy
Hleb Fab Flam Rosicky
Ade Eduardo
Strange, but the REALLY big game will be v Birmingham.
Definitely… I think Toure will get rested and we’ll see him for Milan. It will be interesting to see how Eduardo plays if Ade sits. He seems to come a bit more alive when Ade’s not there. Can’t wait…
I reckon Wenger will play similar team to the blackburn game. Same back 5 but with 5 in midfield.
Mad Jens
Sagna Gallas Senderos Clichy
Hleb Fab Gilberto Flam Rosicky
Ade
oh no not 4-5-1 again!!!!
i think the only change will be Bendtner for Ade although um worried bout pace Rooney will bring behind Senderos wre as Kolo would ahev that to match but my prediction of the line up will be
___________Mad Jenz
Sagna___Gallas__Senderos__Clichy
____________Gilberto
_____Fabregas___Flamini
Hleb__________________Eduardo
__________Bendtner
I see Rosicky coming in for a run in later on and so will Eboue.good thing will be that manUre will be up for this and will want to come all out and that will suit us,but if we are going to get anything from that game we will need Bendtner to be at his best and better.
it will be a nailbting encounter as usual but although we say the FA cup aint much of a priority losing to manUre is jus not waht we need at this moment…is it not like before we met Spurs and had to choose what was priority???
Funny enough, when you mentioned how noone can have a grudge against Henry, I came to think how I really wish he would do well for Barcelona, but I also wish that Barcelona don’t win anything and get humiliated as well!
I guess what Im wishing for is that Henry will realize he made a mistake by jumping ship at the worst time possible and joining a team on its way down.
Its selfish I know, but for the first time in many many years, I am actually cheering for Madrid and hoping they would dominate the league!
Another reason for that is probably that I respect what Madrid has done in getting rid of its galacticos and going for young talent, which is a reflection of the Arsenal way!
Q – Arsenal Way,
How do you feel about Henry going to Barca? Do you hold a grudge?
The injuries etc mean that Arsene has very little choice. Given he played with an injury last time if he rests anyone i think it will be Flam. I would also rest Ade becasue he is so important to us right now. We can’t rest the full backs unless we play serious midfielders in front of whoever takes over (so no Theo).
So… jens, hoyte, gallas, senderos, clichy, hleb, cesc, gilberto, eboue, nik and edu up front. Rests for sagna or clichy with hoyte filling in could work. Fab and Hleb are playing their way back to form, i know they will be tired and it would be a disaster if either one got injured before the Milan game but i would play them as they need these big games to get back to their peak, Its what players like Cesc live for. Ade gets a rest, toure and tom a bit more time to recover, i agree that Tom could start and do 60 mins or come on early in second half. No theo, unless he has sagna behind him or plays up front, but Nik and him as a partnership won’t score at OT.
I don’t care about the FA cup but this is Man U at OT and my heart says play the best team and spank them, but even with a weakened team we could beat them as theres a chance they will rest some players too. A very strange one to call.
Rayman,
What team do you think will start bearing in mind you have a few injury worries?
sanga and clichy out.. so i guess you guys have to redo the team lineup.
