I’ve never wanted to win the league so much 27 February, 2008
Posted by lasagnechef in Arsenal News.trackback

It’s been 4 years since we’ve won the Premiership. 4 years! Can you believe that? To be honest with you though, I haven’t been extremely bothered by it, until now. Back in 2004 it was sort of taken for granted that we were going to win the league, we were in such incredible form it was just a case of seeing if we could do it unbeaten.
Since then I’ve been a little bit obsessed with the Champions League. I’ve always wanted us to win that more than the League. I know that by winning the Premiership it is an accurate way of showing that you are the best team in England. Whereas in the cup, anyone can win it with a bit of luck. But as fans, you don’t care about that!
I suppose it’s partly to do with us never having won the Champions League, partly to do with us getting so close in 2006 but mainly I just want to be able to say that we’re Champions of Europe! However now it’s all starting to change for me.
Early in the season when we beat Tottenham, we went top of the league for something like the first time in 3 years. However at that stage of the season league position didn’t really count for anything because it could change so quickly. However we actually stayed sat at the top for some time and we’re still there now; I think the longest time we were probably off the top was maybe two weeks.
No one expected us to win the league this season, no one. Not even the most optimistic Arsenal fan would’ve truly and honestly believed we would win the Premiership. It took me a long, long time to admit we’re actually in a title race. I think it took me until about December before I finally realise we could actually win the league here. I always thought that next year would be our year but you have to give credit to the boys for doing what they’ve done so far.
They’re inspired to win it now. Even more than the fans because of the way the critics wrote them off. Cesc Fabregas has again this week told us what it’d mean to him be Champions. Also the other day Flamini said ‘we want to win it for Eduardo’.
We all know we can, we just have to somehow hold off United. If we can just concentrate on our game and treat every match as the most important one in the season we can do it. It’s going to be a really interesting and exiting run in and I’m praying we can do it. It’d mean so much to me if we could win the league. I would be so proud. Fuck the Carling Cup, fuck the FA Cup…even fuck the Champions League. If we win the league I won’t give two shits. So you can shove that Carling Cup medal up your arse Robbie Keane, and stop crying, it’s a nothing cup.
We start with Villa this weekend. Win there and the draw at Birmingham is forgotten.
Just a bit of team news finally and Kolo Toure hopes to be fit for Milan. We’ll think about that one next week though, Saturday’s game is much more important. Thanks for reading.

Keano !!!! Theres only one Keano !!!!!!!
It’s 4 years actually.

my man
reunited at last -
how are things? great win sunday eh? fantastic football - how many willies did jj suck on at faces at the celebration party d’ya think?
peace out baby
It’s Feb 2008 and we sealed the title in May 04.
I make that less that 4 years.
i h8 that wanker robbie keane, i used to h8 rooney the most but then it changed to keane after all of his fucking shit celebrations, tosser
nice article though brilliant as usual!
Sir Herdee String,
Hows it going mate? I’m very well thank you.
Yes a great, great day on sunday (relatively speaking of course), The fact it was Chelsea made it twice as good as well. Even John Terry admittted we deserved it, which says alot. As for jj, I think he left the spurs party early to go to one of his ’special’ bars for a private celebration with his ‘other’ freinds.
Terrible shame about Eduardo, Seriously mate, no-one wants to see that.
Time to see what Walcots made of maybe?
Give the man a break on the nerd timeline spotting will ya.
Yes the Prem is the thing this year (apart from the fact I dont think I can stretch to a trip to Moscow for the Chumps League Final. We have only lost when we have put out a weakened team a win on sat against the villains will bring the team back online followed by a strong showing in Milan (win or lose but obviously I hoep we win)
Winning the prem this season would ram it up the meeja idiots that predicted Top 4 Totnum and ram the medals down those illiterate deluded fools at the ar$e end of the Seven Sisters road.
Has that demented leprechaun won anything wince he was 15 the way he behaved you’d have thought the spuds had won something wothwhile
I think we need to start banging in the goals soon as goals difference could soon count.
Adebayor has been missing some simple chances, lets hope he changes that on the weekend, and gets his first CL goal against Milan.
Anyone got any news on Diaby, Song and Rosicky? I think they will be important if we are to win the league .
Sue,
You secretly fancy Keane dont you?
It would be fantastic to win the League this year. Let us just give thanks that we have not been waiting 47 years without any hope of getting any closer.
Any update on RVP? Is he getting match fitness playing with the youth etc. When is he back? We really need him for Milan. At least for setpieces………. Please bring him on, even for the last 20mins
tfg,
Yes you are right, and its a real shame.
5-1, to the Tott-en-ham, 5-1, to the Tott-en-ham,
5-1, to the Tott-en-ham, 5-1, to the Tott-en-ham
If my maths are correct;May 2004 collect Premiership Trophy,we are now in Febuary 2008 so it is less than 4 years since we won The Premiership,it is therefore very hard to take the rest of your blog seriously if you can’t even work out what is 2008 less 2004.You sound as thick as the Tottenham prick who seems to think that we are bothered about them beating us 5-1 in The Carling Cup whilst we are now about 30 points clear of them at the the top of The Premiership.Do any more of them want a quick bet on Spurs above Arsenal?
Eddy,
Its when you started headbutting eachother, that was the best bit
It’s not been 5 years since we won the league. It’s been 3 seasons, and almost 4 years. Too long I’ll say.
I really hope we win the league this year. I’d like to send huge pieces of humble pie to the naysayers who have ridiculed us this whole time just for trying to do the right thing.
Blog Head
Things are good and I have to say you more than deserved it against those West London Kossack fucks. Wonderful display of football.
Twas a shame about Eduardo but he will get back. Indeed - don’t know what Walcott is made of but I’m sure he has some of Pat R’s jiz lurking around his mouth.
If goals difference would count, then the solution is to stop conceding. We score more goals than Man U, or Chelsea. But we concede too many. The solution is in defence.
lol, look at the bitter spud fans excited because they won the carling cup,LOL, LOL, LOL.
Yes you battered us 5-1, after about 900centuries of waiting, and yes you went to wembley before us, and yes you FINALLY and after spending so much money finished in the TOP 4…..oh actually please scrap the last point, woops sorry, was thinking of Everton.
Oh well lads, guess we will have to re-focus on only the champions league and premiership, guess the carling cup will have to qait another year, maybe if we buy Bent for £30million, we could have a chance to win it. Fingers crossed.
Chet,
Its so nice to finally speak to someone who talks sense. You’re so right Chet, thanks for being so complimentry I really appreciate your unbiased view
Just by the way, count me amongst those who thought we could win it this year. I felt we had a great squad. Here’s why:

ATTENTION ALL SPURS FANS: Commemorative Mickey Mouse ears are now available in the Spurs club shop!
Bloghead
When Arsenal become such a big club that we include precious items like The Peace Cup on our official honours list (just to pad it out a bit) I will know that we have arrived.
Since I know that you will be off to check that on Spurs official site, the rest of us will while away the time in your absence recalling the venue of our most recent title celerations.
Run along now…….
Gooner Harry,
Wicked!! I love Mickey mouse !!!
tfg,
Sorry mate I just had to pop to the toilet for a wee wee, what were you saying?, something about head-butting………
Where does this guy get 5 years from? 2004 we won undefeated. 2005 and 2006 were won by Chelski. Last year 2007 was won by Manure which makes it 3 seasons.
But on the main thinking behind his article, I am behind him coz we need some silverware at that magnificent stadium. We also need a bigger squad to stop these chaos we usually get every season because the team is silky thin. 2-3 injuries and we are struggling. Come on?
Bloghead
Read the post again - get somone to help you, if necessary - at no point did I mention head - butting.
I understand that you might be eager to change the subject of conversation - try keeping to the subject matter if you want credibility…
tfg,
‘When Ade Head-butted Bendtner, half of me wanted to kill him, the other half wanted to tickle his balls’
Above is a direct quote from your earlier post. Deny it if you wish but I warn you, you may lose credibility.
Bloghead
That was extremely intelligent, I applaud the complexity of your thought processes and your well - reasoned argument. May I assume tha you are representative of the average Spurs fan?
Good.
Now perhaps you should concentrate on your homework. Clearly the reading and writing is proving difficult for you.
For some reason I thought it was 2009. Fuck.
Where’s Arseblog?
Have you broken it, chef?
“Fuck the Carling Cup, fuck the FA Cup…even fuck the Champions League. If we win the league I won’t give two shits.”
‘Chef, never have I read something so fucking right. Fuck ‘em all, indeed.
You know, we should lay off Bloghead. The Carling Cup is a fucking big deal for those Seven Sisters fuckers. It’s their first title in what, ten years? Fucking hell, it’s a big fucking deal. It’s a fucking confirmation that they can improve and that they can, one day, break the Top-fucking-Four.
I’m genuinely excited by the prospect of a resurgent Tottenham. For too long we’ve beaten those fuckers. For too long has the rivalry been one-sided and lame. For too fucking long has the sneering, bitter invective seemed like petty parochial sniping. For too fucking long, I say.
Under Ramos, Tottenham have a fucking chance to be fucking title contenders. Fucking hell, that’s exciting. Imagine how fucking good it’ll feel to beat those fuckers in a match that fucking matters. Imagine how fucking amazing it would be to beat them as a side of consequence. Fucking amazing, I’d say.
But my longing to win the fucking league is like that pulsating pustle on Bloghead’s anus - irritating, nagging and unavoidable. It’s a burden that, at times, seems to fucking great to bear, and yet, it’s one I gladly bear. Bring on those fucking Aston Villa fuckers.
P.S. Bloghead, how’s that latent homosexuality going, anyway?
awww leave bloghead alone, he’s trying his best..
he needs a break hes prob been paying to see the spuds play for what almost ten years now without gettin anyfin back, at least they have a little silver plated cup to sit in their empty cabinets and a day trip to wembley.. afteral theyr only a big fish in a tiny pond and were goin whale hunting! bring on milan!
This post is very hoting, and this blog is high ranked in

Its funny how you guys are now saying you dont care about the champions league, just because you’re not favourites to go through
I was one of those that thought we will win the league and I still think we are capable of riding these few weeks of stormy times and coming out tops, it what the Arsenal do best our famed mental strength and team spirit and all.
34. since when did we say we cared becuase we were favourites to go through; Since when were we ever favourites to go through in the CL? Against Juve, Real Madrid?
Its more a case of appropriating resources and feeling that the PL better be won - it has always remained top priority for most managers. be sure of that
Make no mistake, we are favourites to go through. All we need is a score draw which i think is not that impossible to archieve.
team spirit,
Aparently Kaka’s out, you can definitely score so I suppose you are the favourites
I would hardly call A C Mlan a one man team…… I would have thought that they have the edge, but an away goal could change all that.
In truth, I do not think that Arsenal will win the Champions League this year. As for the importance of the competition throughout Europe, aside from the domestic leagues, it is definitely the trophy that teams most aspire to.
Arsenal’s failure to win it is the only significant omission from Arsene Wenger’s remarkable achievements.
tfg,
So do you think you’ll go through? How about the league, do you think you’ll win it? How about your bald patch? Is it getting worse?
Oh dear. Bloghead has bunked his classes again. Perhaps that is why Bloghead has no class. Or perhaps it is because Bloghead supports Spurs and that the condition is a pre - requisite. Who knows?
Either way, Bloghead, the Champions League and Premier League should be no concern of yours…
tfg,
Answer the question tubby.
Is your bald patch getting worse?
37. Like Kaka did not lay the frst leg and he score a hat trick? or did i miss something.
The game can go wither way, but I put ua as favourites… there are very few games this season that we did not score and although Milan first leg was one of them, It does not mean we will not score in the second.
When we played Inter, we lost 3 - 0 to them, but went ahead to beat them 5 - 1 at the san siro, so it is by no means a forgone conclusion
and we will win the PL and our bad patch is set to end.
From 4 0 to 0 - 0 to 2 -2, whoch should have been 2 - 1 but for the ref. We can only get better

Truly, I am thinking that you are of primary school age. Your supposed insults, which confirm your inability to present a constructed argument, merely draw attention to your own inadequacies.
I shall not be rising to the bait, you are wasting your time. You really ought to work a little harder at all of this before you come on here to make yourself appear quite so stupid.
team spirit,
Well I suppose it dont matter cos you lot dont care about the champs league anyway, or was it the league?, or the cups?, sorry I get confused
tfg,
Have you ever considered hair implants? Its expensive but gives amazing results. It doesn’t hurt either my mum had it done
I am overwhelmed with indifference to you, Bloghead.
I would struggle to think how your opinion could be any less important to me, were it not for the fact that my time would be very nearly as wasted as yours, in dreaming up these wonderful examples of witty reparte.
Have you ever considered hair implants? Its expensive but gives amazing results. It doesn’t hurt either my mum had it done
Bloghead
I should know because i was fucking her last night
what the fuck are you doing on this blog anyway. feeling lonely as all spuds have to comfort them in about a decade is the fucking carling cup. a cup no one gives a toss about.
now on your trike you fucking dick
tfg,
Thats ok, I forgive you. I’ll get the number of that hair doctor off my mum for you.
I’ve always wanted to say the 49th comment
TOP OF THE LEAGUE AND HAVING A LAUGH,
Thank you, thats probably the nicest thing anyones ever said to me, or my mum.
You do that, Bloghead.
I pity you that you are more concerned for the state of my scalp than the obvious lack of brain which resides beneath yours…
Was the research on hair implants carried out before or after your lobotomy?
tfg,
Lobottomy? I dont see what bum surgery has to do with anything
Typical Spurs fan - no differentiation between the head and the posterior. Can I assume that the former is wedged firmly in the latter in your case, Bloghead?
The surgery would be required to remove your head from your bottom. The only advantage to you of your current malaise may be that the smell would serve as a permanent reminder of the stench of White Hart Lane.
I am sure that you would like to pleasure yourself by nodding in agreement?
