Time to go into Title Chase Mode. 11 March, 2008

Yep. Now we have to actually kick our arse in gear. We were five points clear not so long ago and it all seemed lovely and nice but then we’ve drawn three in a row and it’s not quite so pretty. We’re still top, yes, but Man United can go a point clear of us if when they win their game in hand at Bolton.
A lot of these players wont be used to the pressures of a title race. I think they need to realise how well they must perform at this stage. Every single game should be like a cup final, and played with that spirit and determination. I know it’s hard, but you have to take that atmosphere from playing at the San Siro in a knockout game, and apply that to the league games against Wigan, ‘Boro and Bolton etc.
I don’t know how you do that, but you just have to. Maybe if the players look at the table as they walk out onto the pitch, they will realise the importance of every single game from here on.
I’m sure they know all this already, but you have to admit that the performances have been lacking recently. As I said, the team we up for the game against AC Milan, no surprise. So why can’t they play like that every week?
This image from Le Grove (a good blog by the way, check it out if you haven’t already) shows our title run in with Man United. We both have to go to Stamford Bridge, we’ve both got Derby away, we’ll both be entertaining Liverpool and of course we go up to Old Trafford in April.
It’s going to be an exiting run in, that’s for sure. And we’ve seen first hand how quickly a 5 point lead can be lost. It won’t be over, until it’s over.
We’ve got a secret weapon now though…Robin van Persie is back. He might just be that extra element we need to keep 1st place. If Adebayor can carry on scoring and Robin starts finding the net again, we’re in business.
Flamini’s ready for a title fight. You’d imagine he would be. He’s the sort of play that will keep going for the entire 90 minutes doing his part for the team. He’s the one that can inspire our players to pick themselves up if we concede and he’s the won that can win the ball back and start an attack. He’ll never stop, even if we’re 3-0 up. I’m pretty sure that if we subbed him off he’s go straight into the dressing room and carry on playing football.
Wenger admits we’re going through a bad patch too. What’s important though is we’re not losing games, only drawing. 3 points from three games is better than no points from three games.
Let’s hope this title-race-ambition starts on Saturday afternoon against ‘Boro. Thanks for reading.
looking the the fixtures Manure have to go to away to Blackburn and Chelsea right after playin usneither of which will be easy. If we get any kind of result up there and are within one or two points then i think we’ll have a great chance. However, if we’re gonna do it i think we’re gonnna have to win all the other games and get draws at Chelski and Manure.
We’ve drawn two easy games. I think its a combination of injuries and squad strength. Diaby-Denilson-Eboue-Rosicky-Van Persie have all been injury prone this season and the likes of Ade, Hleb & Cesc have been overplayed no wonder they look tired.
Gilberto looks past it fair play to Flamini he has been our most consistant player. I cant remember the last good game we got from Ade and Cesc in the league. They need to realise that the title is more important than the CL
We’ve made things very hard for ourselves now. If Man Utd beat Liverpool & we drop anymore points then Man Utd can afford to draw against us at Old Trafford. We’ve had a flying start to the campaign we now need a stroming finish
I think we’ll have to win against Liverpool Man United and Chelsea to be sure of winning. We can’t count on the opposition dropping points.
We’ve been in a position to be miles ahead of the rest this year but not been consistent enough. We are still not ruthless in our game and just do not score anywhere near enough goals considering the posession % and chances created. RVP has been badly missed of course and the midfielders who scored early season have dropped off. The lack of ruthless streak on-field is reflected off-field in our failure to get a grip on the title before now – we’ve had numerous chances to put clear blue sky between us and the rest yet failed to press home our advantage.
Away at Boro – do me a favour that was an unforgivable performance.
I fear we’ve blown it but obviously we can do it but we need to get results against the big three …. and think about this – we are quite likely going to have to play one of them in the CL [twice]. My heart tells me we’ll draw Barca but it might be ManU/Chavs/Pool …
If you put one of those into the CL quarters against us then things start to look very tricky, and what’s worse is we could face an English side in both the quarters and semis … now that would be very bizarre indeed:

Potentially 13 games left to play, only 3 of which we would describe as expected wins – all the rest are going to be hard fought battles and I can see a big last game away at Sunderland deciding our campaign.
When the final whistle blew on Sunday, it ushered in St Totteringham’s Day 2008.

Fuck yes, ‘chef – you’ve hit the proverbial fucking nail right in the fucking proverbial head. The boys have to get their fucking heads around the fucking fact that every fucking game is against Milan at the San-fucking-Siro. They can’t afford to choose which games they turn up in. They can’t afford to sit back and play like poncy, show-boating ponies against the thick-headed, clod-hoofing pride of England (i.e Boro (H), Chelsea (A), Bolton (A)). We need nine fucking points from these three games, and we need to win them in such dominanting, scarily fucking awesome style that other sides will shake like wimply girly-men at the thought of taking on the fucking fearsome Arsenal.
I also think they should start swearing more. Always helps.
To win the title we are going to have to WIN at either the Bridge or OT. Will Wenger have the balls to go to either ground and ATTACK.At the end of the season the amount of draws this season may come back and haunt us.We have lost 3 games less than Man U.Yet if they win their game in hand they will be top. Its time for Wenger to gamble.Who wants to end up losing less games than Man U and not wiining the title
