We have to keep on fighting 26 March, 2008

It’s been a pretty shit weekend for Arsenal. Dreams of the title have been shattered and everyone’s a bit down in the dumps. We need to just get on with it though, we can’t give up. We need to keep playing because not only do we want to put the pressure on Man United, there’s still 2nd place to fight for.
We still have a really good chance of winning the title though. I was thinking about it yesterday while I was bored at work. It’s only going to take a couple of slip-ups from United, which is more than likely. I don’t think they are going to win every game until the end of the season, if they do then well they deserve to win the league. Gilberto’s reminded us we’re still in with a chance for both the Premiership and Champions League:
“We have a chance still in both competitions. A few weeks ago we were five points clear and now it is not a comfortable situation as there is only seven games left but we do have a chance. The most important thing is to win our own games. If we win our seven games then we have a chance but we cannot afford to slip up anymore.”
That’s the key thing, we just need to focus on our games, keep winning and then just see where that takes us. The fact that we’ve dropped off the pace a bit means there’s a bit of weight off our shoulders too, hopefully that will help us start winning again.
Gilberto also said he doesn’t know where his future lies at the moment, he says he’s been working hard to try and get in the team but they are playing so well it’s hard. I’d be surprised to see Gilberto still with us next season but you never know.
Gilberto will finally get the chance to play at Ashburton Grove tonight when Brazil play Sweden. Tickets are still on sale so pop down if you’ve got nothing to do tonight. I’m working this evening so I can’t go but it should be an alright game.

England are playing France in Paris where we should see a few of our players and ex-Gunners in action. Hell, we might even see one of them in an England shirt! Theo Walcott is in the squad for the game and it’d be nice to see him get some action. Wenger says it’ll be a competitive game, I’m praying no one gets injured but it wouldn’t be surprising would it?
There’s not much else to talk about, it is International week at the end of the day. Thanks for reading.
