Where is the news? 29 May, 2008

I predicted a busy week but it’s now Thursday morning and we’ve still heard nothing. The Nasri story hasn’t really made any developments although the Telegraph are saying he has signed. I don’t really listen to anyone else saying he’s signed unless it comes directly from Arsenal.

Although it seems like the deal is very close to being done, I just can’t take this story and believe that he is now our player. Until it comes out on Arsenal.com, he’s still not an Arsenal player. Maybe it’ll all get sorted today, but I have no idea. People I know are saying that he is all but signed but I don’t know anything for sure.

Hleb says he’s never said he wants to leave, which is true, it’s all been his agent. Alex has been very quiet about it all since the story started, but I still believe he’s going. I think it would be very strange to have Hleb still at the club come August, I no longer regard him as an Arsenal player.

I kind of want him to leave, I’m not his biggest fan and it looks like a few clubs are interested so we could get a bit of money for him. Hopefully his departure will finally sort out Nasri’s transfer.

In other transfer news, The Guardian are reporting we’ve had a bid for Cardiff’s Aaron Ramsey turned down. I’ve never really discussed this guy on here because there’s never been any developments on his story. It looks like he’s being hunted down now but with Liverpool and Man Utd reported to be interested too it’s no going to be simple getting this kid.

Robin van Persie has been talking about our wage structure saying that if we paid more we’d keep all our players. He says he can understand why players might want to leave Arsenal when they can get silly money elsewhere.

He’s also said that it’s very important that this team stays together and he will be upset if players decide they want to move on. So, he thinks we should start paying big money and then we wouldn’t have this problem. It is frustrating as a fan, because there’s nothing we can do about it. Football is all about money today, and it’s only getting worse. It’s just something we’re going to have to accept. Our only hope is that the crest on the man’s chest means more to him that the pay slip he gets.

Cesc’s been given the no.10 shirt for Spain, which I understand is quite a big thing as it is given to their best/most important player or something like that. So well done him. He says he’s definitely staying at Arsenal and wants to win the league. I doubt that will stop the rumours this summer though.

Ok I have to go get ready for work now. Speak to you Friday night.

like you, I can’t be bothered with all the rumours until the club come out with it, it’s just pointless getting carried away with the gossip and rumour.

2. blablabla - 29 May, 2008

wtf r u talking abt..hleb shouldnt leave..nasri will need 3 transition year like hleb did when he 1st come here before..so hleb is integral to our team now, until nasri can fully adapt to the style in pl..shut ur stinking mouth u talked like u know everything..fuck off

3. reply to blablabla - 29 May, 2008

blablabla i think ur gettin a bit carried away with nasri needing 3 years like hleb, nasri is alredy at the stage and better that hlebn is now, he plays internaitonal football at a decent level.

however charmlessly blabla puts it, he is right to assert that we are better off with Hleb than without him. OK so there may have been some ill-advised shennanigans on his/agent’s part but this shouldn’t distract from the fact that he has been a key player this season. I’m amazed at the short memories some of us gooners seem to be cursed with. Hleb is a superb player, a match-winner and he is is till getting better. Saying he can’t deliver a good final ball is just pure twaddle - think about his burst of pace in the box at Bolton when he won the ball and the penalty that put us back in the game. That was pure Hleb and no-one else does that. Think about the ball he laid in for Cesc to equalise at Anfield. If Hleb does stay then FFS forgive and forget. Or as my dear old mum used to say, don’t cut off your nose to spite your face! Alex is Great and he should play for The Arsenal,, no question.

zing tao,

The best thing about Hleb is his hair.

Cant say the same about you though, Zing the merciles

Hopefully his departure will finally sort out Nasri’s transfer !!!!!!!!!!!!!

only who understand tactics know how important player is helb.

only who understand how important to hold or to keep the ball until ur team mates move forward knows how important is Helb.

Without Helb there is no natural dribbler in our team who can open any defense.

Also nasri is rosicky type of player who prefer to pass the ball rather than take on the defender.

Our team need to add 2 or 3 players Not to replace them .

ryan,

Good points ryan, you certainly know your shit.

But the real question is this -

Does the Sex and the City movie live up to the huge amount of hype surrounding it?

10. nipala73 - 29 May, 2008

zing tao, alex is the best player but if he want to leave no comment he can leave .

11. michael tekeste - 29 May, 2008

it is better to pay arsenal’s player more, coz football also like any other job,it is just buisness,so out team should pay money more for all.

12. ArseNole - 29 May, 2008

I’m happy Hleb’s leaving honestly, and like Chef said, if he was here at the start of the season it would feel awkward. I’ve already written him off and am now just waiting for the check to come in for him. Hope it’s sooner rather than later.

Also, I’m having a Euro 2008 prediction contest on my blog so if anyone wants to enter feel free to try and win.
