End of the Week Transfer Update…. 30 May, 2008

Hi there. How are you? Cool. Good week? Ok. Erm. Hi.

God it’s quiet it here.

Well there’s precisely fuck all going on at the moment. God knows what Wenger’s up to, probably hidden away in a dark room hooked on Grand Theft Auto 4 or something. Without the normal Friday press conference, there is really nothing to tell you about. Usually I come home from work on a Friday and Arsene’s given us a load of juicy topics to talk about. But no.

At the beginning of the week I said we could look forward to a busy week of transfer action. Come midnight on Tuesday, there was still nothing, but that’s ok, keep calm, I could at least talk about Danny Fiszman’s latest interview. Yesterday morning I broke the news that there was no news and realised that my prediction of a hectic week was far from true. Now today I’m sat here at the computer with absolutely nothing to talk about. I’m just rambling on here by myself.

There is but one story in this barren land that has any interest. Adebayor says he’s definitely staying and wants to go all the way next year. He’s also said that Flamini’s departure wont affect us and we will just move on:

I came to Arsenal with a mission to succeed. I’ve assured the gaffer Arsene Wenger I’ll stay because I believe in the team and I want to assure the fans my concentration is here. I have no reason to leave so I’ll stay to ensure that together we’ll win silverware.

Mathieu’s a good player but his departure doesn’t mean Arsenal is about to collapse. Our team is a deep well of talent. I am confident we are capable of winning titles and we will return for next season hungrier to be successful.

Ade is one of those players who you feel like he actually plays for the badge on his chest. This season he looked more like an Arsenal fan that our best striker and he celebrated every one of those goals like he meant it. I love Adebayor, and if these rumours of a move to Barcelona were true and he did leave then we would lose a lot of our spirit.

I was never worried that he was going though. Honestly. The stories quite clearly were going nowhere and Adebayor was always staying. My only concern though, is whether he can keep up that form and go on to score another 30 goals next season. If he does, then he really has established himself as a great player.

That’s it. That’s all the news. Well, everything that’s worth talking about anyway. If you click on to NewsNow you’ll see loads of “Arsenal sign £12m star” and “Wonderkid moves to North London”. It’s not true, it’s nothing you haven’t heard and all this is coming with no evidence to back them up.

I’m going to go now. Otherwise there’s just going to be an awkward silence. Tomorrow, hopefully, I will have something decent to talk to you about. Otherwise we’re just going to have to find another subject for this blog…

Don’t worry. Arsene is sticking to his usual MO. He will finalize all his signings for the summer and then there will be a press conference, where he will reveal them all together. If he is as good as his word, it will be next week sometime.

Are we actually going to sign someone Arsene or are you going to ramble on about how much we havn’t spent next year compared to the others, on paper looks good, but we need trophies or Arsenal are on the decline, and your management hierarchy may be in Jeapardy.

3. Farrukh - 30 May, 2008

How about Arsenal Euro 2008 Player watch for a topic until we get some new signings. Otherwise you may as well shut up shop until next week. Its just over a week til the championships start and i expect most if not all signings to be announced before first game.

6. Bertonian - 30 May, 2008

7. nam - 30 May, 2008

Put the keyboard away and go out to a pub and find yourself some cock. Arsenal will still be here tomorrow.

I heard that Spurs are in advanced negotiations with Dunne.

If so Arsene’s really let one slip through the net there.

Proven, established, talented, experienced, not high wages, cheap transfer, good general build and right attributes for the job who would surely have loved to come. Come on Arsene I know most of the players suggested are pretty unlikely and ludicrous for one reason or another but Dunne REALLY was one to be had, and at £3 mil odd looked ideal.

I wish I could stop myself checking Newsnow every hour. But the reality is, it is Close Season, people are on holiday. I don’t need to read ten different times about Arsenal hiring a physio from Norwich. Pull yourself away from the damn news feed and go to the pub and laugh with your mates about what a shambles Chelsea are.

i thought i was the only one who looks out for goonernews, com more regularly than my inbox. Arsenal FC will go great irrespective but whats the harm of having great names in the team.

Same old story with Arsenal- talk and no signings. Why hasn’t Nasri signed? Lets see if me make them before the Euros. Usually we wait until 12 on 31 August.

15. jean lu pooty - 30 May, 2008

if only we could get Miguel Veloso .cmon man this guy is so solid n young and has all the attributes of a flamini (tackling, passing, engine that will not quit) plus the bonus of possessing those sweet portuguese feet which as much as i liked him flams was not the best dribbler or shooter. from what i have seen of MV and if he fits as well as i think, then he n Nasri and all the youthsters well pointed out by theo will then in my opinion be unstoppable not only outplaying opponents but actually reaping the rewards from being the most exciting football team in europe.oh yeah a central defender to replace senderass is should be on the cards.Fax i cannot wait to see what wengy is up to
anticipation fakin killin me
