New Away Kit Poster 2 July, 2008

trackback

I’ve just come across the new poster for the away kit, and I thought I’d share it with you. Basically, I’m too tired to write a post.

I quite like the kit, I mean, most of you will probably have seen it before but this is the first time I’ve seen the team wearing it. It’s based on the 1988/89 title-winning kit, that’s why there’s Alan Smith, Steve Bould, Micky Thomas and Paul Merson in the poster with the Division One title in the background

The new home kit come out tomorrow morning, mine’s in the post.

Right, I’ll write a proper article tomorrow, until then.

I thought we were sponsored by Nike? Look at the shoes

4. Mitch - 2 July, 2008

We are sponsored by Nike, it’s just adebayor being the traitor in this photo…
Surprise, surprise…

5. justfab - 2 July, 2008

rocky is there too!
rip
great kit

6. justfab - 2 July, 2008

adidas puma and nike boots this is the arsenal not nike….
rocky shirt on the wall number 7 above the trophy — class

7. Mean Lean - 2 July, 2008

That’s Tomas not Rocky mate.

8. Wrighty - 2 July, 2008

The players have their own boot endorsements, hence why they’re wearing the boots that they’re endorsed to wear…

Being paid to wear football boots. It’s a tough life, ain’t it?

9. justfab - 2 July, 2008

rocky shirt on the wall mate look number 7
im sure i remember thomas ;)

12. Snail - 2 July, 2008

Excellent news. I have the toff version of this kit.

*shovels heapfuls of parmasan*

13. VP - 2 July, 2008

Ade is becoming a real spoiler than ever before, just imagine him wearing Adidas shoes here. someone’s got to find a way and teach some lesson he’ll never forget.

14. VP - 2 July, 2008

I don’t care if he “Ade” has his own endorsement deal with Adidas, he’s a spoiler and a spoiler will he ever be. His agent is beginning to change tune now that Milan has backed out. Barca cant pay even 30mil for him. I really wonder how he will cope with all the Boos at the Emirates next season.

15. Greek Gooner - 3 July, 2008

i thought i would hate it but i love it. absolutely love it!

16. RJ - 3 July, 2008

Funny how none of you see kolo toure or that bloke who wirdley looks like aliadier are wearing adidas

17. Canuckgooner - 3 July, 2008

RJ. you mean Robin Van Persie?

18. Jack S. - 3 July, 2008

I can’t tell in the large version, too grainy. Does that shirt say Rocastle or Rosicky? The #15 one appears to say Denilson.

19. Jack S. - 3 July, 2008

I noticed Bill isn’t wearing the armband, either > 8)

20. jat450 - 3 July, 2008

I seriously hope Gilberto gets the armband. I thought once Henry left, he would have done enough to deserve it. This is especially true now, after having a difficult season but having impeccable attitude. He also had a strong finish, which was positive for us.

Love the kit, as well as seeing the ‘ole legends.

21. AusGunner - 3 July, 2008

Looking forward to getting this kit for my indoor team. It looks nice and has a great story behind it, obviously.

And, as has been pointed out, Ade (and RvP and Kolo and Clichy) have Adidas endorsements anda re contractually obliged to wear those boots. Suggesting that any of them is going out of their way to upset the natural order of things in this photo is ridiculous.

22. Ken - 3 July, 2008

Thoe was Cooooooooooooooool, show us that TW14 is better than TH14.

23. arthur - 3 July, 2008

that kit is sick

24. G4ever - 3 July, 2008

i thought i would hate it too. But it turns out it is actually quite good.
Why is everyone excited about rosicky shirt?

is there something i missed?

i wonder if he will recover in time to play a game with this kit.

25. freddie-G4ever(kenya) - 3 July, 2008

its just fantastik i love

26. Blog Head - 3 July, 2008

Merson looks like he’s struggling to open that bottle of Smirnoff.

And what the fucks Cygan doing in there? I though he’d left I didn’t know he was a coach

27. Blog Head - 3 July, 2008

Fabregas has this look on his face whch is saying to michael thomas ‘Who the fuck are you’.

I’m not even going to start on Adebeyor and Smith, I love this picture its one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

Van persie looks like he’s thinking about his next female victim

28. MEGA - 3 July, 2008

guy right in the front of the picture talking to fab has been flipped and no one thought to fix the shoes.

nike ticks are backwards :p

hehe. weak.

Love the new kit

29. Blog Head - 3 July, 2008

They make Wallcot sit on the floor beacause he’s english and then they kick him the head for a laugh. Check Almunia out, the bullying bastard.

30. Ollie - 3 July, 2008

Heh good points people, I was wondering why I couldn’t make out Rocky or Rosicky on the number 7 shirt.
Now I know: a bit silly of me to expect ‘Rocky’ it definitely reads Rocastle.

31. JollyGoodVela - 3 July, 2008

maybe its not even Adebayor. we cant see his face ;) :)

32. Blog Head - 3 July, 2008

Its definitely Adebeyor, you can tell buy his freakish body.

Smith looks about seventy years old

33. diceman1984 - 3 July, 2008

One thing I noticed, it’s very symbolic having M.Thomas preping Cesc. I wish Cesc will win us trophies this season like we deserve to.

34. Danny Pulleyn - 3 July, 2008

CYGAN!? It’s Steve Bould.. head coach of Arsenal’s U18 Academy side

35. Blog Head - 3 July, 2008

Danny Pulleyn,

No you fool its Pascal Cygan, your defensive coach

36. Gooner67 - 3 July, 2008

Why would the Arsenal team be wearing the away kit in the Emirates dressing room?

37. Blog Head - 3 July, 2008

Gooner67,

Why’s there a cup in there?

Is it the fair play cup?

38. Danny Pulleyn - 3 July, 2008

“Danny Pulleyn,
No you fool its Pascal Cygan, your defensive coach”

That made no sense whatsoever, but i wouldn’t expect something intellectual or interesting to come out of the mouth who thought Cygan was still at the club on the coaching staff…anyway have fun spending the day commenting on the picture, and making “Hillarious” captions for the players…

39. Danny Pulleyn - 3 July, 2008

Anyway back to Arsenal (Which this forum should be out) I agree Gallas wasn’t the perfect captain sometimes, but i think it’s wrong to take the armband off him now that he has been given it.

He should have given it to Gilberto last year, but with Gilberto coming back late from his duties with Brazil, and then the rise of Flamini kept him out of the team.

40. Danny Pulleyn - 3 July, 2008

*(should be about)

41. Blog Head - 3 July, 2008

Danny Pulleyn,

Danny you fool, you obviously know nothing about Ar5ena1 do you.

Gilberto couldn’t be made captain cos he’s wank dude.

How can you say Gallas wasn’t the perfect captain, you silly fool.

Gallas was inspirational, his sit-down protest got the other trying 110 percent. How could you not know that girly boy?

42. Danny Pulleyn - 3 July, 2008

Gilberto is “Wank” ? Right… well i know for a fact we would have been in serious danger the season before last of not making the top 4 if he wasn’t insperational in the centre of the park.. scoring 11 goals, Also captaining Brazil to win the Copa America in 2007.. and even though he didn’t have a lot of time to shine last season, he is only 31 and we need some experience.

Did i even mention the birmingham game? It was more things like the media articles about Theo Walcott calling him predictable, and criticizing him. Fair enough if that is his view but Theo has enough media pressure as it is being dubbed “the next big thing” and Gallas could have spoken to him in private or at training.. not in the paper.

43. Blog Head - 3 July, 2008

Danny Pulleyn,

You’re right Danny. There both shit, not good enough for the Ar5ena1. We should buy Jenas from the nice lads down the road. I reckon we could get him for £15 million no problems

44. sous chef - 3 July, 2008

they must’ve taken this picture before euro 2008 because i think cesc is still in spain/ on holiday/ resting after euro 2008.
Also where the fuck is Clichy & Sagna?

45. jesse - 3 July, 2008

what a great concept! i love it!

im not to keen on the colour of the lettering tho - a bit of an eye sore!

46. DeiseGooner - 3 July, 2008

Jenas, na mate you can keep him at Top4Tottingham. He fits right in with the other dross ye have down at the lane.

49. Tone - 3 July, 2008

It is of course Steve Bould - the theme is today’s heroes with their 88-89 counterparts, hence Ade and Smudger together. Come on - call yourselves Gooners? :P

50. Tone - 3 July, 2008

BTW: This one’s crying out for “Thomas 89″ on the back ;)
