Another injury and another Gallas outburst 21 November, 2008

gallas Oh the good news just keeps on coming….I guess the top story has to go to William Gallas again who has been mouthing off. Yet again, some rubbish trying to make himself look all high and mighty, saving his own skin and bringing up other players’ faults.

I read Arseblogger’s piece this afternoon and I completely agree with everything he’s saying. It’s a long one, but definitely worth a read. His closing couple of paragraphs really hit home to me:

The Gallas experiment has failed, Arsene. You thought you could make him a captain the way you made Lauren a full back or Kolo a centre-half but you couldn’t. You humiliated one of our most professional and loyal players [Gilberto] to do it. You stood by him when every bit of you must have known he was the wrong man for the job. Change it now or this team is going to continue to suffer under his rudderless attempts at on-pitch leadership.

He might be suspended for this weekend but give it to Cesc. It’s time to give the young man a chance. Maybe it’ll help lift him out of this funk he’s in. Maybe the team will react well to having a new leader. And when January comes, Arsene, think long and hard about what’s best for Arsenal Football Club, not what’s best for your little experiments and projects.

We’re in a bit of a mess at the moment, but I don’t think we’re in that deep of a hole; this can get sorted. And I do think that Wenger must be blamed. The Gallas captaincy was a bad decision, I can understand him experimenting with it, and for a while it worked but he just has to take the armband away from Gallas now.

He is a failing captain and he’s dragging the whole club down with him. I’m fed up with this now, I’ve tried to get behind William Gallas but I can’t stand this any longer. Get him out.

Personally, I would drop him and get rid of him to whoever will take him in January. We couldn’t keep him if we wasn’t captain, he’s only in this for himself. It’ll never happen though, Arsene sticks to him whatever he does; it’s very frustrating.

I’d be incredibly surprised to see him dropped, especially as we’ve got more selections problems ahead of the weekend’s game as now Kolo Toure is injured. He’s picked up a calf problem away with the Ivory Coast to add to Theo’s injury away with his country.

That leaves the right side of the field looking very bare – no Rosicky, no Sagna, no Eboue, no Walcott and no Toure. No sure how long Kolo’s going to be out for yet but I don’t think it’ll be too bad.

So who are we going to play tomorrow against City? Well, I do know, but it’s not what I want to see. It’ll be Denilson, Song, Diaby and Nasri across the midfield and I doubt it’ll work again. I think we should get Wilshere in there, give Vela a chance, all those kids who have so much energy and desire is exactly what we need right now.

This won’t be the team, but this is what I would do…

Almunia
Hoyte
(?) - Djourou – Silvestre – Clichy (c)
Wilshere – Ramsey – Diaby – Nasri
Adebayor – Vela

I have no idea who we can play at right back? I’m looking at the first team squad and no one can play there. All the defenders we have fit are out-and-out centre backs + Clichy. All the midfielders we have fit are more attack based; the only possibilities there are Ramsey or Denilson…

As for the rest of the team, I’m happy enough with that. I like Ramsey, give him a chance to run the midfield. Vela’s good on his day, you can’t really blame him for not getting in the game late on against Villa.

There’s no point in even discussing that team though. Unless Wenger has a big think about what is right for his team.

It’s a 3 o’clock kick off tomorrow, so not on TV here in the UK. Maybe that’s a blessing in disguise. Not going to lie, I’m a bit scared.

God I’m being so depressing this week! Lets hope we can pick things up after the weekend. Thanks for reading.
