Samir Nasri fractures fibula – 09/10 Injury #1 21 July, 2009
Posted by lasagnechef in Arsenal News.trackback

The squad had only been in Austria 24 hours when news broke today of the season’s first injury. I was kind of hoping we might have a bit better luck this year but it’s not a good start. Samir Nasri has fractured his right fibula and will be out of action for two to three months. Even if he does recover in that time scale, he’s going to have to go through a pre-season schedule again to get him up to fitness. I’m not very optimistic about this and I’m not expecting him around until November time.
He’s very lucky though, it could’ve been a lot worse – It’s not a full break which would’ve totally ruined his season. There’s no word on how it happened but would it surprise you if Vermaelen had a ‘hulk-like’ mood swing and went flying in?
Rosicky’s recovery is now more important that ever. If his pre-season goes well then Nasri’s injury wont put us in too much trouble. Another injury in that area then we could start to get worried but with Rosicky, Arshavin, Walcott, Eboue and possibly Diaby or a striker able to play wide I think we’ll be ok for now. It’s still frustrating news though and I hope Samir makes a strong recovery; 09/10 is set to be a good year for him after a strong start in England, lets hope he doesn’t miss too much of the season out.
We’re playing SC Columbia in half an hour and I’ve got Arsenal TV Online ready to go. I still don’t see any team news but as soon as I know I’ll update the article with the side. I’m gonna have twitter open as I watch and I’ll do my best to keep those of you without ATVO updated. If you’re not following me already, do it here. Also I’ll keep an eye out for an internet stream, if I find one I’ll put that up on twitter too.
Update – I’ve got the team:
Almunia
Silvestre – Vermaelen – Djourou – Eboue
Diaby – Denilson – Ramsey – Wilshere
Arshavin
Bendtner
I’ll do a quick round up of everything else going on today before the game starts. Lyon say they are interested in Chamakh and are “ready to welcome him with open arms.” That’s nice. They understand that he wants to go to England but they’re just letting him know that the offer is there. I think Chamakh had the chance to go to Lyon before but now he wants to go to England I don’t see him changing his mind. Arseblogger says that on Irish radio last night journalist, Xavier Rivoire told us Chamakh will be joining us in the very immediate future. It wouldn’t surprise me you know. More on that as I hear it.
And finally last night an Arsenal XI beat Lincoln City 3-2. Sunu and Emmanuel-Thomas put us 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go but two goals in five minutes for the home side brought things level. It took a last minute winner from defender, Luke Ayling to make it 3-2.
Right then I’m off to watch tonight’s game. Keep an eye on the here and my twitter for updates. Thanks for reading.

it wasn’t vermaelen
it was diaby. a clumsy tackle, he got his technique wrong and caught nasri
fuck aw best buy now.we as fans need more than 4th 5th places.come on u old fool dive deep.
why don’t you fuck off
last thing we fans need is fans like you!
IN ARSENE WE TRUST
do u have a season ticket fool?? na doubt it your 2 busy swearing at people.now we pay lots of money to watch this club thats me and 3 others now i love this club and want 2 c us aim high and with a few mil spent we can challange and we do have it. not saying i want aw 2 go but i feel he has to give in on this 1.so jackie why dont u and your little budiespiss off..many thanksxxxx
Readie
Pleasssse, can we pay stupid people yourself to not support Arsenal…
I am tired of all you Armchair manager telling Arsene what he should or shouldnt be doing. We have cover for Samir as mentioned above if Rosicky return is sucessful and we have walcott, Arshavin, and we can play Traore, Vela, and even JW can get a few games the first couple of months.
Like the Boss said we need a CDM, for me that is the most important thing right now not even a striker.
who r u to say that u gimp cunt still shitin yellow.
even somewhere inKampala, Uganda, we are dying to see the team progress from third/fourth to 1st /second. It will take mountains moving to get this thru to Wenger-who I hear Knows it all.
Kampala Uganda
I was shock and almost fainted when I saw the news on goal.com about 1 hour ago, but I honestly think it is a good thing that he is injuried now that we can still buy.
It would have been worst if it had happened after the transfer window. Let’s just hope Wenger will be bold enough to confront the idiotic board members for cash to buy new players or hopefully shallow his pride and get us Hleb on loan or on cut price.
Readie, I hope you are not trying to blame Wenger for not buying…sure Mr Arsene is very stubborn but methink his stubbornness is as a result of our dearest Arsenal being broke.
The truth is…WE ARE NOT AS FINANCIALLY HEALTHY AS THE IDIOTS CALL BOARD MEMBERS ARE TRYING TO MAKE US BELIEVE.
Sir Alex may not know exactly what is going on with the club but he is not far from the truth..if Wenger says we can not expect to spend money like other clubs, then it means we are broke. Very basic and simple.
I am sure those idiots are already thinking of how to share the money from Adebayor’s sale.
To be honest, I don’t want to see his club taking over by a rich fella but come to think of it, what makes us different from those in the hands of those rich, clueless idiots?
They are soon going to be broke and go under, we will are broke and may go under if someone with brains does not come in. See, I think it is time we stop decieving ourselves, the hand writting is on the wall for us all to see.
I just hope Wenger doesn’t dump us real soon..I hope, I hope, I hope.
Goodness me Abayomi Aje, if you are in posession of documents which paint a different picture that those released publically of our accounts – I suggest you share them with us!
Jesus are you serious ” hopefully shallow his pride and get us Hleb on loan or on cut price.” When he was at Arsenal he was not what we needed why would he be now. for all his artistry, Hble HARDLY EVCER SCORE do any of you remember. The guy would be in front of goal with the goalie and would be looking for someone to pass the ball to.
So please WE DO NOT NEED HLEB… Samir had seven goal last season,
I would bet that’s probably close to half if not more goals than Belarusian had at arsenal during his time there.
I dont think Arsene is always right, but I would put money on him knowing more about this team and Talent than all of us.
We were never in for Melo, dont care where is went…Song if continue to develop will be a solid DM i just hope we would get someone who is in their late 20s to play for a couple season to help this team but not blocking the pregress of the players we have.
Arsenal got too many fans that are unable to think for themselves and talk to much garbage every time they see a headline online.
Isn’t Vela already injured? This is injury no 2 and a very ominous and painful start
Poor Samir. I was very much looking forward to him playing this year. I hope he makes a fast recovery and we do see him before November. I wonder if this changes Arsène’s purchase plans now. Probably not.
Hleb wasn’t seen in Austria when this happened, was he?
Wenger said Nasri will be back in 6 weeks so expect him to play in about 8 weeks, which isn’t too bad… about late September or so.
it does’nt seem to matter how many languages you explain the philosophy , to some gooners, it obviously isnt clear that the project we are undertaking at arsenal fc is about building a great team within the resources available to the club so short term targets like this season, next season are obsolete. what is required of all gooners is to have sufficient vision to project into the future what a fantastic player nasri will be in two years time , can song play CDM better than makelele at his prime in a years time etc etc. all this talk about bring in more players, trophies etc. just proves some of you live in fantasy football land, we are arsenal and in arsene we trust. case in point , senderos jumped ship with the other rats last season, i can imagine that he must look at the improvement in song djourou eboue and wonder what ever possesed him, answer: short termism.
S nasri is part of a collective and wenger’s own interpretation of events is that he was trying to nick a ball someone was shooting at goal when he got kicked, two positives we can take from this, whoever it was was really leathering that ball and at goal too! secondly an arsenal player actually put somebody in hospital so these is the sort of menace our players need to add to their game, how many times have we seen some cunting defender take one for the team and walk off unscathed?,too many. I still feel a warm glow when i remember diaby v john terry, or viera on whoever. so c’mon arses, support our boys with pride because there really is a fantastic footballing / life ideology in arsene’s vision
ugandan u fool, ive only missed 3 games this year and thats cause they were in europe, thats a reall fan, right weve been building a youth team 4 4 years and still no silver, every year its next year, now with all these teams bringing in top players is slowly pushing us down so i think its time 2 buy.maybe some people dont get it maybe your thick i dunno.
Wenger explained after the match that it wasnt a tackle as such. Someone was about to shoot, Nasri nicked the ball away and got kicked. Thats what broke the leg. Its nothing as bad as Eduardos obviously and will take about 6 weeks to heal. At which point he will start getting his fitness and such back. All together it will be about 3 months before he is able to compete for a starting place.
To all those argueing at the start: why dont all of ye just grow up and stop the “i’ve got a season ticket”, “armchair manager” shit and just debate your points in a grown up way like ye should.
Disagree all ye want but dont swear at eachother and questions eachothers legitimacy as an arsenal fan.
Everyone relax, Nasri is shit anyway and has the head of a monkey. Look at him, He’s a monkey headed mother fucker and we dont need dogshite like him, we’ve already got Eboue.
Peace out
