Out until March? You obviously write for the Daily Mail in your spare time.

One. Were we going to get through the rest of the season without more major injuries? No.

Two. Who, right now, would you prefer to be sidelined for perhaps 6 weeks - RVP, Cesc, Song, or Vermaelen? With Arshavin, Vela, Edu, TR7, Theo, and Diaby as options we still have a top three to die for.

Three. Look at our fixture list over the next 6 weeks. Chelsea at home and Liverpool away are the only fixtures of any real note (RVP was never going to play in the Man City Carling gig no matter what.)

Four. Sure. Stuff like injuries are random. RVP getting crocked today has no bearing on what might happen tomorrow. But on a scale of we-can-cope to there-goes-our-season this is more easily managed than say Drogba or Rooney keeling over.

Anyone who thinks we have to go out and get someone else to replace RVP hasn't a clue vis-a-vis:

(a) The tried and tested media hype and interpretation over the injury. (3 months? Not a chance.)
(b) How AW solves Arsenal's problems.
(c) How long it would take to acquire/bed-in someone bought in January.
(d) Who we have already ... for God's sake we've barely used Vela or Theo this campaign.

And for those who think that the RVP injury has anything to do with RVP's apparent penchant for getting injured either haven't seen the VT or aren't living in the real world. Perhaps both.

So, give it a rest and let's see what the team is made of this season and let's hope they're a bit more rational and optimistic than some of its fans.

Sorry v. Persie, once again he normally get such needless set back when he is at the top of his form. i have counted he is likely to miss more than 15 games excluding FA encounters. Wenger pliz get us a quick replacement if we are to lift any trophy.

"Last time I ventured to give my opinion of a possible line up I was told I know nothing about the game". This is always the issue in the blogosphere (?). There are always people who think they know it all.

Anyhow, what pisses me off the most is the number of people who continually slate Diaby. What is also just as disturbing is the recent quotes by Wenger implying that Diaby's future is in defensive midfield.

I can't think of a worse position to play the lad. Although he is a surprisingly good tackler, his positional discipline is very poor. As Wenger himself has said, "Diaby is attracted to the goal like a magnet". Diaby is a goal scorer, simple as. Other than Arshavin, no other player possesses as good a shot. His dribbling skills and ball control is also the best in our squad. What other player can shake off 2, maybe 3 defenders with ease? In a forward position this is crucial. The ability to take out a defender let alone 2 or 3 may give you a chance to create a shot on goal.

In my humble opinion Diaby has some serious potential but the best of his abilities would be lost in midfield. His mazy runs amount to very little due to the midfield congestion.

Sorry, missed out the goalkeeper (Mannone) and yes it is a 4-4-2 formation although I prefer three up front but he`s crook (Aussie for sick).

Last time I ventured to give my opinion of a possible line up I was told I know nothing about the game and that`s possibly right but I must have learned something over my sixty two years as an Arsenal supporter so forgive my naivety and I`m sure to have missed someone. Anyway here goes, it`s only a bit of fun and I`m bored.

Almunia, Gibbs, Vermaelen, Gallas, Eboue, ----Nasri, Diaby, Fabregas, Rosicky,----

Eduardo, Arshavin. Bench: Clichy, Sagna, Ramsey, Song, Vela, Walcott(if fit) Denilson (if fit)

I`m quite sure Mr. Wenger takes absolutely no notice of mine or any other comments and probably never sees them, and rightly so.
