I think Gallas is leaving + Cesc, Sagna, Sol & Rosicky doubts for Hull 11 March, 2010

Happy Thursday to you whatever you’re doing. It’s certainly a happy Thursday for me, had two deadlines yesterday and today so am off to get very drunk tonight. But before I do, time to update the Arsenal news and there’s been a fair bit today with Wenger’s press conference.
The issue of William Gallas was brought up who is consistently injured at the moment with no time frame on him coming back. His contract is up in the summer and despite months of talks we look no nearer a deal. We’ve seen this thing time and time before when a player is destined to leave in the summer Arsene immediately removes him from his plans and he no longer plays. I’m not really sure that’s a good thing that Wenger does but that’s another argument. Basically, I think that’s what’s going on with Gallas at the moment anyway.
He might just genuinely be injured and I might be completely wrong but it looks all too familiar to me. Gallas has been unusually quiet since his captaincy has been taken away and I’ve always had a suspicion that he might move on once his contract is up. Roma have been strongly linked to take him this summer but apparently we want to keep him though, this is what Arsene said today:
“You [the media] can link him with who you want, because he is out of contract and can talk to whom he wants. I do not know if he has spoken to Roma but he is speaking to us and our desire is to keep him here. I think he wants to stay here, all the rest is difficult to know whether it is true or not.
I am not concerned. He is under contract until the 30th June. We have not found an agreement yet. I will meet his agents again next Thursday and we will try to find a solution. I would like to keep all that secret. It is very difficult for me to come out [and discuss the contract talks]. I feel I have to respect both parties and not to come out about the details of negotiations.”
The thing is I swear recently he said talks were happening this week, whether they were delayed, we still couldn’t come to a conclusion or Wenger is plain lying to us I don’t know.
I really hope we keep him though. Vermaelen and Gallas is a great defensive partnership and I’d hate for us to have to find a new centre back this summer. We haven’t really noticed his loss yet because Sol Campbell has been doing so well for us but he is no replacement for Billy. He can’t string two games at the moment, which is no complaint but he’s just not an option for a first choice centre back. Plus I don’t see him still with us next season. Campbell is a perfect back up but if Gallas is leaving he’ll need replacing. Wenger might see Djourou as that man but he hasn’t played all season and will need assessing when he can play again. He could be the answer but we need to see how he returns. I think I read somewhere that he’s back in a month but I’d be surprised to see him this season.
Unless Gallas is off.
I’m just speculating really, I don’t know, but I have a hunch that he’s off. I’ll be a bit gutted because he’s been brilliant since he gave the captaincy to Cesc but if he wants to go then I wont have any problems with him. We’re just going to have to wait and see, hopefully we can come to some sort of agreement before now and June, if not Wenger’s going to be busy with his cheque book this summer.
Cesc Fabregas is out of the Hull game. Well Wenger says, “chances of playing are 0.5 per cent – that means unless a miracle happens, he will not play. At the moment, he is out of Saturday’s game.” It’s a shame because Cesc hates Hull as much as we all do, he’ll be gutted that he will have to sit out but I’m glad we’re not rushing him. All we can hope for is that he comes back strong against West Ham the weekend after.
Song is suspended, Rosicky is a doubt, Sagna has an ankle problem and Campbell is a doubt. They’re all replaceable players but it’s still a shame, decisions will be made on them tomorrow. I expect Nasri to continue in the middle with Cesc out, he did a great job the other night so I don’t think anyone will have any problems with that. If Rosicky, Sagna and Campbell all miss out then we have Walcott, Eboue and Silvestre to come in but hopefully a least a couple of them will be fit. Hull will be tough, a lot of teams have dropped points there this season so we need as fully fit squad as possible.
I’ll preview the game in full tomorrow so I’ll speak to you then. I’m off to get drunk.
See ya.

Getting drunk is stupid, immature, irresponsible behaviour from harebrained people who think they’re big because they consume more alcohol than they can take. What if you fall into the Thames or choke on your vomit or end up hitting women because you’re too parylitic to know what you’re doing? Get a life, loser.
What the hell?? F*** OFF AND CHOKE ON UR OWN WORDS U MUGGY C***
Wow! I don’t think I have seen a comment like the above before. You can’t really say anything about it but just ignore it I guess. For the last 4-5 months I had a feeling Billy was leaving us. I thank him for his great work and his professionalism. Thanks you Willy Gallas
I suppose he’ll have to stay in North London, at a bar full of men, and be sure to sleep on his stomach. Problem solved.
Oh, and I hope Big Willy stays, of course. He’s been brilliant, and a complete professional since the ignominy of losing the captaincy. If he chooses to leave, fair play to him, I wish him well. But he won’t be easy to replace.
Recovering Alcoholic – just because you were sufficiently stupid and weak enough to spend every day of every year buying yourself a miserable addiction don’t, for one moment, assume the rest of us are. Perhaps YOU fight, hit women – wake up in your own shit and drink Listerene to hide your own smell.
Personally, I first got drunk on a February night in 1977. I last got drunk three weeks ago. At no time in the interim have I come remotely close to violence or alcoholism. It’s called moderation and many people master it….. So – if you have to project your own failings onto others – find somewhere other than an Arsenal blog to do so.
P.S. Here’s praying Gallas hangs around but I share the fear
Isn’t this the third match in a row against Hull that Cesc has had to sit out due to injury? I seem to remember him missing the last one, and the one before that was when he strolled onto the pitch in his civvies and told the lot of the Tigers to fuck right off, before horking up a big glob of snot on one their coaches in the tunnel… right? >8)
I take a little syringe with the good stuff and end up nodding off, but at least I am not hitting women and alcohol, of course, makes you do that. Now, I just dream that I hit women….
Gallas is leaving for certain. I don’t think that it will be a massive blow. I mean if Sylvestre can have a decent game alongside Tommy V, I reckon that you could get someone off the Sunday pub team to do it as well…
Would have liked to have seen more of Kyle Bartley. I hope he gets some games next season cos I think he has a very bright future.
Recovering Alcoholic, what the hell? Who are you to come and dictate that to me? Just because you’ve had past problems with alcohol doesn’t mean everyone else is like that. I’ll do what I like thank you and I know what a few beers will do to me and it’s nothing like what you mentioned there. Totally out of order comment.
Thanks, Redjim
Problem with alcohol is that you have hangovers. Drinking hard beverages results in all sorts of behavioral, mental and physical malfunctions, but it’s all easy to reach with a good joint. Now, if you’re smart, you will split a joint in a few, so you can stretch the effect for the time needed. Plus, in the age of crisis, it’s much more economical, which perfectly suits the Great Arse way.
recovering alcoholic
i think you are on the wrong website to discuss alcoholism…
not to discourage you from your recocery, but drinking is a socially and legally acceptable thing….even getting drunk is…but alcoholism and drowning in vomit is another thing…as much as driving is legal but speeding or driving wrecklessly or over the limit is not….now back to the footie, for wenger the money man, is it not cheaper to keep gallas on his wages than to think we’ll BUY another gallas who will likely command gallas wages?
gallas wont leave!!!
Do not underestimate the power of the dark side of the force! I fancy us doing Hull but all games are Cup Final games from here on in aye I hate Fishface but TV5 is on fire and Ï have faith in him to throw his body on the line. J.D is going to be a rock for us next season so I can’t see Gallas staying if we’re only offering him half his wages and he can get maybe a two or three year deal somewhere else… pity… but I think his time has come and hopeful he’ll have some more medals on his flight off to where ever…
What an odd set of comments.
hahah i was just gonna say that
if gallas leaaves,he is a prick
Gallas will leave, he has been professional enough but Wenger’s policy of contract extensions to over-30′s and being stripped ofthe captaincy make me think he wants a new stomping ground outside the EPL.
What we really need are 3 interchangeable
“first choice” CB’s around 24 – Vermaelen and Djourou are 2 of these, but JD has been out so long it will take ages for fluency to return. This way we’ve also got Silvestre and Campbell for coverage across several competitions as backup CB’s. This would give us depth across the whole back line with room for the youngsters to start playing here and there. What does everyone think?
The first step to happiness will happen when alcohol is no longer tolerated in the world. http://www.patient.co.uk/doctor/Alcohol-Related-Problems.htm
Anyway back to the REAL problem, I hope Gallas and Wenger stay on. However regarding the wages, Arsenal will have to offer Gallas a decent sum.
Can we please just leave this alcoholic stuff out?. Everyone reacts to it differently no one on here is in any position to judge anyone else.
Im guessing the stupid comments on here ( that have ruined the thread ) are probably written by a Chav or a Scummer.
I dont agree, I honestly think Bill will stay, I think he’s just trying to thrash out the best deal he can get for a 34 year old.
Johan will be back nice anad strong but I think AW will still dust of the wallet and bring in a new face. The Serbian lad (forgot his name) seems the best bet.
Cesc going no where
AW going no where, no way he will move to another club where he cant be the man that makes the decisions ie Barca or Real.
We will end up on 84 points. we could win it with that but ofc it depends on Manure and Chavs results. Scousers arent going to nab points off the later 2. Its gonna be really close.
Drg
It is funny when we loose focus on the Subject Matter. Galas has given us his best even when he was stripped off the band . But Arsenal cannot afford to spend such money on wages. We have to let him go and move on.
Any chance we can get Sergio Ramos?
were you watching Espn Press Pass too why do these people always write us off
anyway you focused on this season I focused on what they said about our future and importantly what they said about us being too light upfront
So I started thinking what will our team will be next season considering as things stand now
I took into assumption that gallas and Merida will renew their contracts and we sign Chamak and Stefan Savic and wont sell any of our first team players
So lets start from Attack
these are the players we should have next season Upfront
Bendtner, Van Persie, Chamak, Vela, Eduardo, Arshavin, Nasri, Walcott, Rosicky
Arshavin ———————- Chamak —————— Van Persie
(Nasri, Vela) ——— (Eduardo, Bendtner) —— (Walcott, Rosicky)
that’s plenty of height upfront and a good amount of cover if one gets injured.
These players should be Sold – Simpson (Celtic) and maybe Murphy
Players who will be Loaned – Sunu, Watt and Barazite (high hopes for him)
Now lets go to the Midfield
these are the players we will have in the middle
Denilson, Song, Norvedit (possibly), Cesc, Diaby, WIlshere, Nasri, Merida (I dont want to include Ramsey in their because as we know it take a lot of time to fully recover)
———————————– Song
————————–(Norvedit, Denilson)
———- Fabregas ————————————– Diaby
(Wilshere, Merida, Nasri) ————————– (Wilshere, Denilson)
Players who could be SOLD – Randall, Nortvedit (possibly)
Players who should be send on loan – Lansbury (EPL side), Merida (6 months), Frimpong, JET, Eastmond
Now lets go to the Defense
these are the players we will have in the Defense
Sagna, Eboue, Sol (upto wenger), Vermaelen, Gallas, Djourou, Stefan, Clichy, Gibbs, Traore
Sagna ————————– Gallas ———————- Vermaelen ———————- Clichy
(Eboue, Djourou) ——- ((Djourou, Sol) ————- (Stefan, Djourou) —— (Gibbs, Traore)
Players who should be RELEASED next season —- Silvestre, Sendros, Bothelo, Gilbert, Hoyte
Players who will be Loaned Next Season – Coquelin, Bartley
So this what our team would look like next season
—————————————————– Almunia —————————————————
——————————————- ( Fabianski, Martinez ) —————————————-
Sagna ————————– Gallas ———————- Vermaelen ———————- Clichy
( Eboue, Djourou ) —– ( (Djourou, Sol ) —– ( Stefan, Djourou ) —– ( Gibbs, Traore )
—————————————————— Song ——————————————————-
———————————————( Norvedit, Denilson ) ——————————————
—————— Fabregas ——————————————– Diaby——————————-
——-( Wilshere, Merida, Nasri ) —————— ( Wilshere, Denilson )————————–
—— Van Persie —————————- Chamak ——————————— Arshavin —–
—– ( Walcott, Rosicky ) ————– ( Eduardo, Bendtner ) ————— ( Nasri, Vela )
SO these are all the players who will be Sold – Simpsons (QPR), Murphy, Randall
Players who will be Released – Silvestre, Sendros, Norvedit (possibily), Bothelo, Gibert, Hoyte
Players who will be Loaned – Mannone, Wzscheny, Bartley, Coquelin, Lansbury, Merida, Frimpong, JET, Sunu, Watt, Barazite
PHEW
that took a while WOW I guess Andrew I wasn’t going to do it first but since you did something like this I thought I will chip in as well
One final comment we are going to KiCKA$$ next season I would love to see so called pundits from Soccernet Press Pass try and write this team off.
We are at least 3 man deep in every position and our attack is as lethal as you can be in EUROPE. Next season lets go for FA CUP, Carling CUP, EPL and Champions League.
But the imporatnt thing is to focus on this season lets try and win EPL and CL and we can try and better ourselves by winning 4 trophies next season.
Hull will kick Nasri hard and early at the cost of a booking or three.
Our team will be something like
Almunia
Eboue Silvestre Vermaelen Clichy
Denilson
Nasri Diaby
Walcott Bendtner Arshavin
Subs: Fabianski, Traore, Eduardo, Vela and 3 kids
Alot of responsiblity will be on Denilson’s shouders.
Walcott has got to play well. We never know what we’re gonna get from him.
The Nasri kicking, Denilson as our defensive midfielder and Walcott’s inconsistency are making me extremely nervous leading into this game.
With that kind of line up this game will be a severe test.
Redjim – getting drunk is not moderation.
Lasagnechef – you brought it up first, boasting about getting drunk (applause everyone). Why don’t you just write about Arsenal instead of showing the world what a prat you can be on a Friday night?
Recovering Alcoholic…. Its a figure of speech….get over it…
Lasagna….please delete this alcohol comments crap….
its lasagnesechefs blog so he can write whatever the feck he wants, im sure you not visiting his site ever againt wont affect the website hits so if u wanna critisize him u can piss off
oh yeah and…
CAMAN ARSENAL….
Sam are you in recovery too? No trophies for 5 years and you are prediciting the double this year and quad next. Hmmm keep taking the medication
Chelsea trophie 19
Arsenal trophies 39
20 trophies more
so piss off u inbred
Zap – congratulations. Total trophies wasn’t my point. Only that you seriously expect to go from nothing in 5 years to the unprecedent quadruple next. In your last comment your ignorance speaks for itself.
i wernt the one who said that was i
secondly what are you doing on an arsenal blog, its time you fuck off now
we are arsenal
kamannnnnnn
Arsenal fans (well at least Zap) – classless – if you only want to hear Arsenal opinions make it a members blog otherwise the whole point of blogs is communication. Scared you might hear a different opinion?
Tom, not expecting to win the quadruple at all. But when (and it is a ‘when’) we win that next league title there will be trouble stopping us. When this team finally comes of age we’re going be something special, and that time isn’t far off. Now isn’t that far more much fun, pride and achiement that simply waiting for the next transfer window and flashing the chequebook?
We’re proud of being what we are and luckily we’re a patient lot, the Wenger era is a fairly recent thing, we’re used to waiting a lot longer for silverware. Although not as long as Chelsea used to have to…
No biggie,Gallas is weak and old and injuryprone we need a real beast alongside Verminator.
