About

The Cannon was started on the 18th May 2006 after a disappointing trip to France for the Champions League Final. I was inspired to start an Arsenal website of my own after meeting a group of bloggers in an Irish bar called Kitty O’Shea’s in Paris. Although we lost, I had an incredible time and was well worth it. I decided it would be a good outlet to start a blog of my own, get out my views, vent some frustration and have somewhere write accounts of my trips around the country and Europe. I do try to keep the site up to date every day with the latest news, including match previews and match reports the day preceding and the day after every game.

I’m currently living down south in Bournemouth, moving away from Arsenal and the North London/Hertfordshire area for the first time. It’s been difficult not being able to get to as many games as I was used to but it hasn’t changed anything about how I feel and if anything makes me appreicate the games I do get to go to even more. I still do get in a decent number of games a season so look out for my match reports.

The name lasagnechef came from the final day of the 2006 premiership campaign. It was the last game at Highbury and we needed to better Tottenham’s result at Upton Park to beat them to 4th place and get that last Champions League spot. The morning of the game news broke that the Spurs squad had picked up food poisoning from eating bad lasagne at the Marriot Hotel. Thanks to that they lost to West Ham and we beat Wigan 4-2 in the last game at Highbury. Coming 4th wasn’t amazing for Arsenal, but overtaking the scum on the last day of the season was incredible.

You can follow me over on Twitter at twitter.com/the_cannon. and on Facebook It’s just another way to keep yourself updated – you can expect updates of when I’ve written a new blog, news as I hear it, links, matchday streams and any other random stuff I feel like putting up.
